Chapter 2 - THE TRAGIC DEATH

The sun shone brightly the next day, lightening every city in the globe, blooming every flower, and sadly, highlighting the red blood streaming from Magdalene's bed…she was dead.

One of the hotel residents, Vivian, entered her room to check up on her as she always does. When she saw the red pool, she knew exactly what she was supposed to do in the exact moment, but she couldn't help but cry and scream as she was looking at the knife lodged inside Magdalene's neck, through and out of her throat. She mistakenly touched her on her chest, which was also covered with blood, to see if she was still breathing.

Neighboring room members swindled their way to view what had happened. When they saw it, they immediately called the police. They were perplexed by the skin's paleness. Although it was false implications, a lot of the residents accused Vivian of brutally murdering Magdalene. She was fuming with anger that the residents had accused her.

As she was boiling hot, a male officer from the local police station agreed with the implications as it was clearly visible that Vivian had blood on her hands…Magdalene's blood coming from her neck.

She tried arguing that she only had Magdalene's blood on her hands because she was still shocked by the benevolence of the murderer who lodged the knife in her neck. She was then, requested to come down the street to the detective's office for 'some' questioning, as said by the officer.

She lost her temper and cried out, "Excuse me, officer, do you really think that I would kill my only friend in this hotel?" While the officer was still disgusted by Vivian's disobeying of his command, an old resident from the hotel confronted Vivian about the fact that no one knew they were close and that this was an act. She also said that she was crying crocodile tears.

The officer was forced to interrogate all residents, staff or non-staff, and even the supervisor, dear Ms. Red about the death of Magdalene. Vivian and other residents were surprised by the strictness of this officer.

A few hours after, the supervisor, Ms. Red announced a residents meeting at the hall. 30 minutes later, all residents were seated on the chairs of the hall, including Vivian….

The meeting was held as an interrogation session between the officer and the residents, starting with Ms. Red, as she was the supervisor of the hotel and was supposed to know everything that happened in her hotel.

The officer, Bishops Jr., requested Ms. Red to exit the hall, and go inside her office on the third floor so that every resident would be interrogated inside the office.

They arrived at the proposed destination and sat down on the seats that faced each other inside Red's office table.

"Wonderful selection of paintings, Ms. Red.", said Bishops.

"Oh thank you, but they were actually painted by Mr. Simpsons, one of our hotel staff members, as birthday gifts every year from about 9 years ago.", replied Ms. Red.

"You are one lucky woman, ma'am!", Bishops said back to Red.

Red nodded gladly. Bishops then said, "Please, ma'am…fill me in. From since she ever came to the hotel, what has been happening?"

"Ok then, I'll tell you all that's taken place,", she said

She added, "Magdalene has…had been feeling vulnerable ever since she came to the Palms. On her first week here, she looked distorted. It had felt like she felt lethargic and drained by something. I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed, but it seemed as if she was on… drugs. Believe me, Mr. Bishops, that person was not well in state."

"On her second week?", Bishops asked.

"Absolutely Terrible! The drugs were getting on her. She started to hear sounds playing in her head…", said Red.

"Oh my… continue, please ma'am.", said the young man, Bishops.

"And then, on her fourth week, she'd gone completely insane…Even the residents at the hotel said so, they complained.", Ms. Red finally said.

The young officer had something in mind, what was it? He thought he had come to a solution, little did he know, a lot was about to be at play.
