She led us up the grand staircase to a quiet hallway lined with polished cedar. "Room 302," she said, explaining that my guild card or communicator could be used as a key. "This is a special request from the Guild Master. Normally, you'd pay for Guild accommodations, but because you're a provisional Silver and Adda sees something in you, she set this up. It isn't all free, though—complete your training, and soon you'll be paying your own way."
I unlocked the door with a swipe of my d3 on a glowing symbol Elara pointed out to find a clean, two-room suite. Snow immediately darted in to go exploring, meowing at me to open the doors because she couldn't reach the handles. I turned around and said goodbye to Elara, thanking her for the help. She reminded me that we had training soon and not to be late. She excused herself.
I stepped in to further explore my new suite. It was a modest place, reminiscent of a college dorm with a kitchenette, a bathroom, and two rooms. I followed in Snow's footsteps as she explored. I opened the two doors—one being a small bedroom, the other being what I assumed was a pet training room with the proper facilities. Snow immediately claimed it as her "New Kingdom" and told me I was no longer allowed inside. I just smiled, laughed, and left her to her foolishness.
I went toward my own room and collapsed on the bed to relax, but my hand never left the silver D-3. I stayed perched on the edge of the mattress, my fingers curled tightly around the device. It felt warm, almost pulsing, as if it had developed a heartbeat of its own. This silver shell was now the only physical tether for the strange, otherworldly power humming in my blood.
I opened the system to claim the reward for [THE FIRST BREATH]. I focused the buzzing, sapphire electric energy in my chest and pushed it into the D-3's link-port.

> A shimmering 10-slot grid appeared in my vision. Before I could investigate further, a notification was already blinking in my vision from the system
: [ITEM: WORLD WALKER'S JOURNAL THE CHRONICLE HAS BEEN BOUND].
I summoned it, but it didn't appear as a physical object. Floating in the air before me was the Chronicle.
It was a masterpiece of contained energy—an immaterial volume formed entirely from my own Sapphire Voltaic Dissonance. The "pages" were thin, translucent sheets of deep blue light, and the "cover" was a dense, rectangular block of liquid-like electricity. It was tame and calm, glowing with a soft sapphire radiance that cast long, flickering shadows against the walls.
I reached out, but my fingers passed straight through the light. As I made contact, a soft, melodic chime resonated in my mind. It was a voice—the same calm, enigmatic voice that had greeted me in the smoking crater.
The energy construct turned into streams of light and started to stream into the D3 And as this happened, I heard the voice whisper to me
["Welcome once more, Chosen. The story you have lived is now held within the Silver Shell. Your past is safe, and your future is waiting. I know you seek understanding; it will all make sense in time."]
I watched as the final threads of sapphire light were drawn into the D-3's sensors. The air in the room settled into a peaceful, heavy quiet.
Suddenly, the device glitched. The hologram flickered violently, breaking into jagged streaks of blue static. A high-frequency hum echoed through the room, and for a second, the D-3 seemed to reset entirely. Then, a single, blinding point of sapphire light ignited in the center of the glass, expanding into a rotating circle. Floating within that ring was my lightning bolt symbol.
The symbol in the circle shattered into a waterfall of data that flooded into the air around me, charging the whole room with static electricity. The D-3's menu had changed. Everything had been completely overwritten, merging my World Walker system and the Guild communicator into one. In the air, everything changed, and then my status screen appeared.
The specialized readouts I had once needed the Resonance Reader to see—the deep stats, the hidden potentials, the anomalous numbers—were now floating right at my fingertips. I could comprehend my character profile now.

[HP: 1,000 / 1,000] [EP: 1,750 / 1,750]
[COMBAT SKILL ANALYSIS: VOLTAIC STEP]
Classification: Synaptic Overclock / Tactical Repositioning
Energy Cost: 100 EP per use
Cooldown: 10 Seconds
* Core Mechanic: Neural Acceleration. The user floods their central nervous system with Sapphire Dissonance. The electrical current drastically accelerates neural transmission speeds, pushing cognitive processing to anomalous levels.
* Effect: Temporal Perception (Bullet Time). Because the brain is processing information at hyper-speed, external reality is perceived to slow down to approximately 10% of standard time.
* Physical Output: Allows for instantaneous, hyper-accelerated physical movement. The body moves fast enough to leave behind residual sapphire afterimages.
[COMBAT SKILL ANALYSIS: JOLT BURST]
Classification: High-Velocity Assassination / Piercing Strike
Energy Cost: 250 EP per use
Audio Signature: High-frequency digital screech (comparable to a thousand shattering crystals or a flock of birds).
* Core Mechanic: Focused Condensation. The user channels a lethal density of Sapphire Dissonance into a single focal point (bare hand or Phase 1 wire daggers). The energy becomes visible as a volatile, screeching aura of dense blue lightning.
* Kinetic Thrust: This skill possesses no inherent area-of-effect or ranged projection. It requires the user to physically charge the target at maximum velocity to generate the necessary piercing force.
* Absolute Penetration: The density of the electrical charge, combined with extreme physical momentum, grants 100% physical and magical armor penetration. Designed to pierce the outer chassis/flesh to directly detonate the internal mana-core.
I switched over from my status sheet to see Snow's abilities and a breakdown of her powers. I had never really taken a detailed look.
[ENTITY STATUS: SNOW]
Species: Lunar Cat (Awakened)
Stage: I (Clear Quartz)
Level: 5
Energy Signature: Prismatic Silver / Deep Blue
[CORE SKILLS]
* Ethereal Frost-Weave: Weaves ambient atmospheric Qi into absolute-zero threads. Capable of physical entanglement, flash-freezing, and structural shattering.
* Sovereign's Telepathy (Passive): High-bandwidth neural link forged via the Aetheric Bridge. Unaffected by standard magical interference or physical distance.
[EVOLUTION PATH: LOCKED]
* Requirement 1: [UNKNOWN]
* Requirement 2: [UNKNOWN]
I frowned at the blocked data. If I was going to help her reach that next stage, I was definitely going to have to make time to visit the Guild's Archive area and research exactly how these evolution paths and locked requirements worked.
"Noah!" a sharp, highly irritated telepathic voice snapped from the doorway.
I looked up from the glowing text. Snow was standing at the threshold of her 'New Kingdom,' but she didn't look like a majestic Lunar Cat Queen. Thanks to the massive wave of static electricity I'd just pumped into the air, her pristine, thick white fur was standing straight up on end. Every inch of her usually sleek coat was puffed out, making her look like a highly judgmental, silver-tipped dandelion.
"My fur," she projected, her ice-blue eyes narrowing into dangerous slits. "It is defying gravity. What exactly did you do in here to turn the atmosphere into a giant lightning rod?"
I couldn't help it; I let out a loud laugh. "I'm sorry, Snow. I was messing around with the system and getting to know our setup a little bit better. I see the energy affected you a bit."
"A bit?" She marched over, her paws making tiny zap sounds on the floor as she approached. "Fix this immediately. I refuse to meet my new subjects—or instructors—looking like I was dragged backward through a thunderstorm."
Still chuckling, I knelt down in front of her, reaching out and petting her, helping her settle her fur. I ran my hand over her head, her back, and her tails, smoothing out her thick, white and silver fur. "You know, Snow, you are a very pretty cat."
She purred at my compliment.
"Better?" I asked, giving her a quick scratch behind the ears.
She gave herself a dignified shake, making sure every hair was in place. "Acceptable," she said. "Now, let us go. We have an instructor to evaluate, and I will not tolerate being tardy."
The floating interface was still hovering above the D-3. I grabbed it, shut it off, and attached it to my belt, the static slowly fading from the room.
"Let's go," I said, as we stepped out of Room 302 together to make our way down the hall. It was time to see what kind of class the Guild had in store
