Inside the Manderly Family's cabin, it was dark and foul-smelling, filled with various goods from all over and uncleaned refuse.
And this was where Baelish was held.
Since being knocked unconscious by Roman, Littlefinger had been confined in such a place, experiencing firsthand what Eddard had gone through.
During this time, except for the faint light that entered when meals were delivered, he could only grope around in the darkness.
Baelish had tried to bribe the guards at one point, but it only earned him a severe beating, and he was subsequently bound in iron chains.
After an unknown amount of time in this state of unease and anxiety, Baelish was finally taken out of his cell.
Once Baelish finally adjusted to the outside light, he opened his eyes to see a very fat man.
The man was pot-bellied, his limbs appearing incredibly short in comparison. The fat on his face stretched his beard, and he wore a costly teal fur coat emblazoned with a trident.
Baelish was shocked at the sight; it was Wyman Manderly. He had already arrived in the North!
When Lord Eel saw Baelish, a cloud of gloom instantly covered his fat face.
"Watch him closely. He must be delivered to Winterfell in one piece. Do not let him escape!"
Upon hearing this, the Northern soldiers roughly grabbed Littlefinger's clothes and shoved him into a cage.
"Wait! Lord Manderly, we need to talk. There must be some mistake!"
But then, a Northern soldier punched Baelish in the face, forcing him to shut up.
Watching Littlefinger being taken away, Lord Eel immediately changed his expression, greeting the Harrenhal soldiers with a smile:
"Oh, thanks to the new and old gods, and thanks to Lord Roman. My thanks to all of you for traveling so far to bring this scum. Here are some gifts; please take them to Lord Roman. The North thanks him for his help."
The Harrenhal soldiers accepted the gifts Wyman sent for Roman but politely declined Lord Eel's warm invitation, as they needed to return to Harrenhal for the coming battle.
Things weren't so easy for Littlefinger. Now everyone in the North knew that Baelish had betrayed Eddard Stark. Furthermore, Roman had gathered various pieces of evidence, including Littlefinger's falsified accounts, reckless borrowing, embezzlement of iron throne funds, and involvement in illegal trade in the Eastern Continent.
For the Northern soldiers escorting Baelish, the most important task now wasn't preventing his escape, but watching out for anyone sneaking in at night to slaughter Littlefinger.
Following the White Knife and the Kings Road, the White Harbor soldiers quickly escorted Baelish to Winterfell, where he saw the Stark family.
At this time, Winterfell was crowded with various nobles due to Robb's summons, preparing to march south to attack Joffrey and rescue Eddard.
As it turned out, before the supplies were even ready, Eddard had been rescued by Roman, leaving everyone staring at each other in surprise.
However, since the Riverlands had been invaded by the Lannisters, the war preparations were not in vain. At this time, there were plenty of opportunities for those who wanted to fight.
When Baelish arrived at Winterfell, he saw a thin and weak Eddard sitting in the high seat, surrounded by the Stark family and a dwarf.
Everyone present looked at Baelish with murderous eyes, while Catelyn's anger was mixed with pain and confusion.
Tyrion had been kept in Winterfell due to the previous investigation, but he still spent his days eating, drinking, and visiting brothels, not acting like a prisoner at all.
"Baelish? Oh, this insidious fellow has finally been caught. Lord Eddard, how do you plan to deal with him?"
After Tyrion spoke, Eddard took out a piece of paper and said:
"This records the various crimes committed by Baelish. Each one is backed by solid evidence, leaving no room for maneuver. I shall pass judgment fairly according to the laws of Westeros!"
Tyrion thought to himself, "As expected. The Warden of the North is just like that. Otherwise, as Hand of the King in King's Landing, he could have easily seized power from Robert, and wouldn't have ended up in a dungeon."
Tyrion thought of Roman again. It was likely because of Eddard's character that someone like Roman was willing to help him—helping a man who follows the rules and values honor.
"Sigh! When will I ever meet someone like that?"
Tyrion took a swig of wine. News was spreading like wildfire throughout the North that Roman was leading an army to attack The Crownlands. As a member of House Lannister, even if he had a good personal relationship with Roman before, he was destined not to be a friend now that the interests of their families were at stake.
"Damn it! Why did that fool Cersei charge Roman with treason? Does she have no idea of Harrenhal's current strength?"
"That fool always says she's Tywin with breasts. Gods! Even the prostitutes in King's Landing know better than she does when to do what!"
Tyrion looked down; the sentencing of Baelish had already begun.
Against Littlefinger, the evidence was irrefutable. With multiple crimes combined, it was a direct death sentence.
Baelish had no chance to request a trial by combat. Even if he did, no one would accept.
This was Winterfell, the heart of the North. If anyone dared to speak up for such scum in front of the Stark family, forget about surviving in Westeros; they probably wouldn't even make it out of Winterfell before being hacked to death by angry Northerners.
Seeing the united Northerners, Littlefinger could only turn his gaze to Catelyn.
"Cat, please, I didn't mean to do it. The Lannisters forced me! Cersei threatened to kill me if I didn't comply. For the sake of our past friendship, spare me this once!"
"I have a lot of intelligence and many trade routes. These can practically improve the strength of the North!"
But Catelyn didn't want to listen to Baelish at all. Her face was filled with disgust.
"Baelish, I always looked upon you as my own brother. I never imagined you would do such things to my family!"
"Gods, before your duel with Brandon, I begged him not to take your life. If I had known this day would come, I should have said nothing and let Brynden cut you down in the river!"
The words Baelish least wanted to hear were spoken by Catelyn. Littlefinger was left utterly devastated by his beloved.
Finally, Catelyn added: "Baelish, you disgust me now!"
After Catelyn finished, Baelish seemed to have all life drained out of him, slumping onto the floor of the hall.
The death sentence had been pronounced, to be carried out immediately. Because Eddard was weak, Robb would act in his stead, which served as a good way to test his courage.
Outside, a deathly pale Baelish was placed on the execution block. Catelyn did not want to see the man again and didn't even leave the castle.
Robb picked up the valyrian steel sword, Ice. After a brief eulogy, he took off Baelish's head with a single stroke.
This conspirator, who had traversed Westeros relying on his wits, was exposed to the air and eliminated by pure force.
