Sophie's POV
That bitch Bianca.
"you look stunning, we could be besties." Stupid brat.
I turned round looking at her as she walked off. This girl was trouble, the air around her screamed danger. I would make her pay.
Ava Romano's voice brought my mind back before I spiralled.
"Well, well, well. We meet again Santiago." Ava said walking towards us, each step she took closer, I took one backwards until Damien grabbed my hand, holding it firmly.
Damien and Adriano maintained eye contact, looking at each other like they could tear off each other's skin.
This was the only time since I met Damien I regretted not listening to him, he tried to warn me. Bianca was working with the Romano's. But how? We never even met.
The music playing in the background stopped, people were already looking but now it felt like the ground should open up for me.
"I see you have no shame, working with a killer." Adriano scoffed.
"Bianca is the only one with dignity in the Santiago household, holding the name with high regard. Your grandfather would be ashamed of you." Ava spat.
"Let me go Damien, I caused this." I whispered.
His grip only tightened.
"You're hurting my wrist." I said, trying to pull away.
"You always have to make this hard." He said with his teeth closed and pulled me in for a kiss.
Confusion, pleasure, and emotions I could not explain plagued me. My oestrogens were an all time high. Damn this man was a good kisser, he held my thighs and used his index to lift my chin up and pulled away.
"I want y'all to welcome the new Mrs Santiago." Damien said.
The gasps I heard during the kiss turned to claps.
I turned around using my eyes to search for Bianca then my eyes fell on her, her eyes looked like they saw my soul, like she could kill me right now if she had the chance.
"Congrats love, or should I say my sister in-law." Luca said from behind before giving me a peck.
We left the place and went outside for air.
"What was that?" I asked him.
"A kiss for my wife?" He said smiling mischievously.
"Don't play with me now." I said faking seriousness but his smile dropped and his look became stern.
"These Romano's would not give up." He started.
"They believe in revenge, they would not stop until they get you."
"And that's why I have you right." I said hitting him playfully and he laughed.
That was the first time I saw him laugh genuinely, he was either faking it for cameras and dry jokes, he never laughed genuinely and I was proud.
I was on my fourth glass and I had become a little intoxicated, then it came to me.
"This is just the beginning Sophie Santiago."
Bianca had said that before Damien said we were a couple. Yes I know he posted that dumb picture, but she was structured, she came from a bloodline of power she knew more than to be naive.
"Who told Bianca?" I asked Damien.
"She finds her way." He said looking into the sky.
"No." I answered him.
"She's a non issue, she'll get over it." He said.
No, this was more than just a "way" someone was definitely giving her intel, someone from the inside. Could it be Marco? No he was too loyal.
List of people crossed my mind but I had a reason to cancel them.
The people here were so lively. Authentic but lively.Aaron would never be at events like this, he hated the crowd, he liked his private life, always searching for leads. Classic FBI.
I shook my head to get him out of my mind.
I walked back inside while Damien hung back with Marco outside and then I saw her, that snubby bitch Elena, she was with Bianca. Of course they would be friends, birds of the same feather.
They walked up to me.
"Oh goodness gracious what now." I whispered under my breath.
"Hi Sophie." Bianca said.
Was this babe bipolar? Less than two hours ago, she stood here scorning and looking at me with so much hate and now she was here.
"You'll never be like her." Elena said with her high pitched voice.
Sometimes I wish humans were computers, I would've hacked their systems and dismantled it.
"Oh please." I said under my breath and rolled my eyes.
"Was that something you said dear?" Bianca said with her accent.
"No." I said, faking a smile.
"Better, bye loser." They both said in a singsong voice.
"Whew!" I sighed, I was looking for water so I could be settled before the last auction started.
As I tried to move my gown stuck to a chair and I looked up and Bianca and Elena were snickering and laughing.
I struggled for a while before it finally removed, I hurried to get the water. As I gulped down the auction had begun.
I hurried to sit but the aunctioneers had already started talking. I saw down to steady my breath because the wine had a stronger effect than the water.
The gold was there in the glass. It was so beautiful, even as it was raw.
"$2000" someone said.
"$3000" another person said.
Hold on, I know gold was something of much value, but this thing here wasn't even up to my fist.
I sat there looking at it, and then I started imagining breaking into their system and unlocking and taking the gold for myself.
"Auction closed." I said under my breath as I finished my imagination.
"Now where was Damien?" I asked rhetorically as I looked round, searching for him.
"$20000" someone said.
I had been lost in my imagination, I didn't even realize they were still auctioning.
I plugged my earpiece back to talk to Damien.
"Damien." I whispered.
No response.
"Damien?" I whispered again, the woman near me looked at me suspiciously and I faked a smile.
"$40000" I heard a voice I knew by heart, a voice I heard when I woke up and when I went to bed.
It was Aaron.
