Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

  Chapter 44. The Argument

  The Christmas holidays passed quickly.

Hogwarts became lively again. After the light snow of Christmas, the weather grew increasingly cold, and in the last couple of days, it even began to snow heavily.

At lunchtime, in the warm Great Hall, at the Ravenclaw table, Lynn and his two companions were engaged in a heated debate about spells.

"Green Spark and Red Spark belong to the category of spells, and they are inextricably linked to the Wand Illumination Charm. Therefore, these two spells should be considered branches of the Wand Illumination Charm," Cedric confidently stated.

However, Lynn had a different opinion.

"I agree with what you said earlier.

These two sparks, though simple, are indeed spells, and they are related to the Wand Illumination Charm. However, they cannot be called a branch of the Wand Illumination Charm; they should belong to a category of Summoning Charms under the category of spells."

Cedric frowned. "Summoning Charms? What is the first element in distinguishing Summoning Charms? The effect or thing produced by a spell must already exist. Summoning Charms are like a transit point. So where do the green and red sparks originally exist?"

Lynn said seriously, "Nature naturally contains many elements, and countless things can produce sparks. Changing their color is as easy as drinking water for a wizard with magical power. The key is that these two sparks have an upward process after being released, and they are not pure light; they are sparks that can explode.

This is fundamentally different from the Wand Illumination Charm."

Cedric still couldn't accept Lynn's theory. They both turned to look at Ian, who hadn't spoken.

  "What do you think?"

Ian remained concise and to the point.

"I agree more with Lynn's statement,"

  Cedric said, puzzled. "Why?"

"Because I've also studied natural science,"

Lynn countered, though Cedric didn't understand.

"What I did isn't exactly natural science. The core of natural science is to follow dialectics when facing any problem. I only made a conjecture; to verify it, we must conduct experiments."

"There will be opportunities," Ian said slowly, cutting his steak with his knife and fork. Judging from his demeanor, he had received considerable education in this area from a young age.

Just as they were discussing, a quarrel suddenly erupted from the Slytherin long table.

The attention of the other students was drawn to it.

The two arguing parties were the two Slytherin prefects, Betty the girls' prefect and Raphael the boys' prefect.

They seemed genuinely angry, arguing heatedly until they parted on bad terms.

  Cedric asked quietly.

"I remember they were a couple, right?"

Lynn knew this and nodded. "They supposedly started dating in fourth grade, so it's been almost two years now."

Cedric sighed and shook his head. "They seemed really angry, not giving each other any face at all, arguing in front of so many people. It's really...sigh."

  Ian said calmly.

"You want to be a third party?"

Cedric panicked and waved his hands hurriedly.

"Don't talk nonsense! I've never had that thought!"

  "Then why are you meddling?"

Lynn laughed until his stomach hurt. Ian's words were very sharp, and Cedric had suffered quite a bit.

  ...

That night, by the Black Lake, near the Willow Tree, Lynn and his two friends gathered under the cover of darkness.

The Willow Tree, which usually waved its branches with an unapproachable air, was now as quiet as an ordinary Willow tree.

Ian looked at Lynn and Cedric expressionlessly.

"Are you sure you want to come with me?"

Lynn shrugged. "We're already here. Are we going to go back now and wait to be captured by Filch?"

Cedric patted Ian on the shoulder.

  "It's alright, Ian.

Besides, it would be too lonely for you to spend the night alone in that place. Anyway, it's the weekend tomorrow, and we don't have anything to do. "

Seeing their insistence, Ian didn't say anything more and led the way into the secret passage, with Lynn and Cedric following behind him.

"It's really strange, the last time we came here was to avoid Ian, but this time we're following him willingly,"

  Cedric said with some emotion.

"You even had the audacity to volunteer to go and die back then," Lynn said, recalling Cedric's boastful act.

The secret passage was quite long, and they walked for about half an hour before reaching the exit.

It was a dilapidated house. The three of them climbed out from the underground storage room, their feet creaking on the worn wooden planks.

  "Fluorescent light flickers. "

Cedric used a wand illumination charm, lighting up the surrounding area.

They left the storage room, and as they moved, dust swirled around them. Lynn instinctively covered his nose with his sleeve.

"You've been here alone all this time?" "

  What else?"

Ian seemed quite used to this place; he'd clearly been here more than once.

They arrived at the living room of the Screaming Shack. Ian found a clean spot to sit and quietly awaited his transformation.

Lynn and Cedric sat not far from him.

Soon after, Ian suddenly collapsed to the ground, letting out a painful groan.

Werewolves experience immense pain during transformation, even Ian, a special Werewolf who could maintain his sanity after transformation, was no exception.

But the transformation wasn't long. With a chilling howl, Ian completely transformed from human to Werewolf.

This time, Lynn and Cedric didn't run away; instead, they stood up to observe Ian's transformation closely.

"Can you still use magic in this state?" "

  Lynn asked curiously.

Ian, panting heavily, shook his head.

"I tried, but the magic in my body is like it's sealed by an invisible force, it can't come out."

Lynn suddenly had an idea. He found a thick wooden board somewhere and started with Cedric.

"Come on, punch this board with all your might."

Cedric was an honest man, and when Lynn said to go all out, he did so. The board was fine, but he was clutching his fist and gasping for breath in pain.

Then Lynn also punched the board with all his might. The board was still intact, but the sound was obviously many times stronger than Cedric's.

  "Your turn."

Lynn held the board horizontally in front of him and gestured to Ian.

Ian saw his idea and didn't hold back, throwing a straight punch at the board.

  "Crack!"

The board broke in two on the spot, and Lynn was thrown backward by the force, falling to the ground and sliding back several meters.
