Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The Troubles of the Damselette Ellin

After a period of casual chatting, the relationship between Ellin and Arkz returned to how it was before.

No! If anything, after the misunderstanding just now, their relationship had advanced to a new level.

If before they were merely acquaintances, friends only appearing close due to Ellin's cheerful and outgoing personality, where they would just exchange greetings upon meeting later, now they could truly be called friends.

Arkz also marveled that the first friend he made in Mondstadt turned out to be the famous 'Future Knight,' Ellin.

Ellin: "Didn't you say you accepted a commission from the Adventurer's Guild? Everyone has already left Star-Picking Cliff; what about your mission?"

Arkz took a Ruin Guard Core out of his backpack and waved it in front of Ellin.

"This is my commission."

Ellin exclaimed: "So you took the commission to deal with the Ruin Guard. Fifty thousand Mora, that's so much money; how long will it take me to save up that much?"

Arkz showed his white teeth, showing off: "You also forgot the twenty thousand Mora reward promised by the Knights of Favonius just now. I earned seventy thousand Mora from this mission this time."

Ellin shot Arkz a resentful look: "Darn it, I'm so envious. Are you deliberately showing off your wealth in front of a poor person like me?"

"Since you earned so much Mora from this commission, you have to treat me! You must treat me!"

Arkz: "Sure!"

Ellin: "Hey! I was just saying that casually, don't take it seriously!"

Ellin: "You Adventurers spend money lavishly once you earn it, you don't know how to save at all, just like my dad; every time he earns money, he goes to the tavern and gets completely drunk."

Arkz: "Alright, alright. Since that's the case, then I invite you to have a meal at my place. That should be fine, right? Cooking at home won't cost much Mora."

Arkz: "And if your aunt and uncle are worried, you can bring them along."

Arkz: "I have a farm in the Springvale area; it's very spacious, so don't worry about not having enough room."

Originally, Ellin was struggling with whether or not to accept Arkz's invitation. Although Ellin appeared somewhat tomboyish, she was still a young girl and worried that her parents might not agree.

However, upon hearing that Arkz actually owned a farm in Springvale, her attention was immediately captured.

Ellin exclaimed in shock, "You actually have a farm!? You don't look like it at all."

Arkz looked at the clothes he was wearing and asked, "Why? Do I not look like a farmer?"

Ellin: "I think you look more like a Scholar than a farmer."

"Besides, as a farmer, you have to deal with the land every day. Why isn't there a speck of mud on you?"

Arkz raised the Vision in his hand: "Because I have this. I use summoned creatures powered by the element to do the work for me, it's very convenient."

Ellin: "Darn it, I'm so envious."

On the continent of Teyvat, who didn't dream of obtaining a Vision? However, those who could obtain a Vision were ultimately the minority. Although Ellin envied those who possessed a Vision, she was not inferior.

She believed that her idol, Acting Grand Master Jean, would still be an outstanding person even without a Vision, not inferior in the slightest to how she is now.

Ellin firmly believed that even without a Vision, she could obtain one through her own efforts.

Arkz asked again: "How about it, want to come visit my farm?"

Arkz truly cherished Ellin, this new friend he had made in Mondstadt, even going so far as to personally cook using his culinary skills to capture the hearts of Ellin's parents and gain their approval for Ellin to be friends with him.

This was quite rare for Arkz, a person who usually couldn't even be bothered to cook for himself.

Ellin hesitated for a moment: "I need to go home and ask my parents for their opinion."

Arkz: "Alright."

Suddenly, Arkz seemed to recall something and asked, "When we were chatting earlier, didn't you say you were saving up to buy a new weapon? How much more do you need? Do you want me to lend you some?"

Ellin shook her head: "No need. If I need Mora, I'll ask my parents for it. I want to earn the money to buy this weapon through my own efforts."

Arkz couldn't help but applaud: "Good! You have ambition!"

"By the way, which weapon have you set your sights on? As an experienced Adventurer, I can give you some advice so that the Mora you worked hard to earn won't go to waste."

Ellin felt that what Arkz said made sense. Seeing Arkz's impressive skills, he must be a very experienced Adventurer. Little did she know that Arkz had not been an Adventurer for as long as she had.

In terms of seniority based on joining date, Arkz should actually call Ellin'Senior.'

Ellin: "It's the Schulz Blacksmith Shop in Mondstadt City. The craftsmanship of Wagner, the owner of Schulz Blacksmith Shop, is famous throughout Mondstadt. I have my eye on the 2-star weapon, the Silver Sword, personally forged by Wagner."

"That Silver Sword looks very beautiful, and it's said that Master Wagner used a unique forging technique, making its power far exceed that of ordinary 2-star weapons. It's also rumored that this Silver Sword has the magical effect of slaying demons and banishing evil."

"But the price is also very high, three thousand Mora."

Arkz: "Silver Sword, slaying demons? It should be made from a silver alloy. If it were made of pure silver, you couldn't buy it for three thousand Mora."

"However, I have also heard of Master Wagner's great name. His craftsmanship is indeed excellent, and he probably wouldn't ruin his reputation for the little money you saved up."

"But I remember that new recruits in the Knights of Favonius are issued weapons, aren't they?"

Ellin: "I am still a reserve member of the Knights of Favonius, so naturally, I don't qualify to receive a weapon from the Knights of Favonius."

As she spoke, the smile on Ellin's face faded, replaced by a look of worry.

Ellin: "The assessment for reserve members in the Knights of Favonius is very strict, and the daily training is also very arduous. Often, many partners who train with us choose to quit because they can't persevere."

"There is a senior in the reserve ranks named Noelle. Like you, she possesses a Vision. The difference is that her Vision is Geo element."

"Although I am not very familiar with Senior Noelle, she has such powerful strength yet hasn't passed the Knights of Favonius assessment for several years. I... I truly lack confidence in whether I can pass the assessment."

Ellin gently patted her own face, as if trying to pat away the worried expression.

Ellin: "My father is an Adventurer, and our family is relatively well-off. But because of my training, my family has invested a large amount of Mora, and my father, who had already retired, had to return to his old profession."

Ellin: "I don't want to give up my dream of joining the Knights of Favonius, but I also don't want my dream to become a burden to my family."

Ellin: "I think if I had a slightly better weapon, I would have more confidence in passing the Knights of Favonius assessment."

Seeing this, Arkz sighed and gently patted Ellin's shoulder to offer comfort.
