Chapter 34 - The Nameless God

Neo opened his eyes.

The cold, damp stone of the bunker floor pressed against his cheek. His vision was blurry for a fraction of a second before snapping into hyper-focus. He took a breath, expecting the agonizing, sharp pain of shattered ribs and crushed organs.

There was no pain.

He sat up quickly, looking down at his hands. His skin was perfectly intact. The heavy, suffocating damage he had taken from the Expert-rank shadow spell was completely gone, healed without a single scar.

He looked toward the corner of the room. Caelum and Lyra were still huddled on the burlap sacks. They were breathing evenly, having passed out from a mixture of sheer exhaustion and the residual effects of the sleeping powder. They were safe.

Around him, the bunker was a graveyard of red ash and scorched stone. The elite shadow assassins were gone, reduced to dust by the terrifying red miasma he had unleashed.

Before Neo could fully process how he had survived, a deafening cascade of crisp chimes rang out directly inside his skull.

DING! DING! DING!

The translucent blue Status Window materialized in front of him. It didn't just pop up; it practically exploded with rapid-fire notifications, the text scrolling so fast the blue light illuminated the entire dark room.

[ Ding! You have absorbed massive amounts of Vitality and Mana! ]

[ Ding! Congratulations! You have broken through the peak of the Apprentice Rank! ]

[ Ding! You have officially entered the Adept Rank (Early Stage)! ]

[ Ding! Warning. A fragment of an Unknown Entity has merged with your core. ]

[ Ding! The fragment has been identified as: 'The Nameless God'. ]

[ Ding! Due to Soul merge with a Primordial Entity... Host has gained tremendous Affinity with the Soul! ]

[ Ding! Host Soul has Ascended to the Next level. ]

"What the..." Neo muttered, his voice echoing in the quiet bunker.

He stared at the glowing blue text, completely dumbfounded. The Nameless God? Neo knew the lore of Shattered Crown inside and out. He had spent his previous life obsessing over the anime's wiki pages. There was the God of Judgment, who blessed Nora. There was the God of Lightning, who blessed Kael. There were deities of life, war, and the elements.

But there was absolutely no mention of a 'Nameless God' anywhere in the entire series. It was a hidden variable. An anomaly that simply did not exist in the original script.

The notifications didn't stop. The system chimed again, louder this time.

[ Ding! You have received a new Title: The Nameless God. ]

[ Ding! New Ability Acquired: Absolute Soul Manipulation! ]

[ Description: Host can manipulate, crush, or extract the soul of any opponent who is lower in rank than the Host. Instant death or subjugation can be applied to weaker entities with a mere thought. ]

Neo's jaw actually dropped. Absolute Soul Manipulation. It wasn't just a spell; it was a fundamental control over the life force of living beings. If someone was weaker than him, their magic defenses and physical armor meant absolutely nothing. He could just crush their soul directly.

But the World's Will wasn't finished rewarding him. The blue screen flashed a brilliant, blinding crimson for a split second before the next text appeared.

[ Ding! Due to the primordial blessing and the merging of the soul fragment, Host has awakened a Supernatural Power! ]

Neo stopped breathing. A Supernatural Power. The absolute pinnacle of magic in this world, something usually reserved strictly for the main protagonist and the Final Boss.

[ Supernatural Power: Ruinvore Ascension ]

[ Description: ]

[ 1. Host can suck the mana and life force of opponents, absorbing their power to ascend your own rank to the next level. ]

[ 2. Host can copy the attacks of any opponent with a power level more than 1 major tier above the Host. The attack can be permanently absorbed and replicated after the Host faces at least one direct blow of that attack. ]

[ 3. Every powerful Aura, Curse, or Unknown Power will not harm the Host. Total immunity to spiritual and conceptual pressure. ]

[ 4. Host can convert absorbed life force into raw physical healing, instantly repairing fatal damage to oneself. ]

[ 5. Locked (Due to low rank) ]

[ 6. Locked (Due to low rank) ]

[ 7. Locked ]

[ 8. Locked ]

...

...

Neo read the description three times to make sure his eyes weren't playing tricks on him.

He was completely speechless.

This wasn't just a strong power. This was a completely broken, reality-bending cheat code. The first ability explained how he had jumped an entire major rank in a matter of minutes by absorbing the assassins. He could literally eat his enemies to level up.

But the second ability was even more insane. He could copy the attacks of people vastly stronger than him, as long as he survived taking the hit first. It turned every near-death experience into a permanent power-up. And the third ability meant Nora's crushing gravity, or the Emperor's terrifying aura, would never work on him again. He was immune to pressure.

He swiped his hand, bringing up his main status page.

[ STATUS WINDOW ]

Name: Neo Draven

Age: 13

Title: Heir of the Demon, The Nameless God

Rank: Adept (Early Stage)

Mana Core Grade: Sapphire (Perfect / Corrupted)

[ ATTRIBUTES ]

Strength: 85

Agility: 90

Vitality: 110

Intelligence: 150

Mana Capacity: 5,500 / 5,500

Neo let out a breathless, slightly hysterical laugh.

Before the ambush, his physical stats were barely hovering in the single digits and low tens. He had been a squishy mage who couldn't lift a heavy sword. Now, his Strength and Agility had skyrocketed into the high eighties. His Vitality was over a hundred. He had absorbed the sheer physical conditioning of the elite shadow-mages directly into his own muscles.

And his mana capacity... 5,500. It was a monstrous reservoir. He had bypassed the density wall entirely by feeding his core the raw life force of his enemies.

In that moment, Neo officially stopped being a background character. He had stepped entirely off the predetermined path of the story.

He looked down at his hands. He could still feel the faint, lingering warmth of the dark red miasma buzzing just beneath his skin. It was violent, hungry, and waiting for his command.

He clenched his fists, feeling the immense, newly acquired physical strength coursing through his veins.

Kael had his divine lightning and his system quests. Nora had her crimson petals and her Primordial talent.

But Neo had the power of a forgotten god.

"If the Emperor wants to send assassins after my family," Neo whispered to the empty stone room, his deep blue eyes flashing with a brief, terrifying crimson light, "I won't just kill them."

He looked at his sleeping brother and sister, a fierce, protective grin spreading across his face.

"I'll just eat them to level up."
