Chapter 3 - Tangled in Tragedy [2]

Constellations are groups of literal stars, but as of now, they are groups of widespread tales watching the growth of several stories in this world.

That is why I am honored to receive blessings. Perhaps even I could meet Shen Haoyu!

Now let's see my options here.

[Blessings Of the Stars]

1. Ostensible Plea

>> Spoken words are as they are, but at the price of confidence.

2. Whisk of the War

>> Privileged by passion ultimately strips off pieces of dignity.

3. Raging Breath

>> Driven by madness, inhumanity consumes the last of you.

4. Imitative Mimicry

>> Immerse yourselves in others.

I recognized these attributes. They were written in my drafts long ago. I've spent hours analyzing the best exclusive attributes.

Thankfully, all of my long nights spent on writing those novels were now paying off.

Ostensible Plea is an easier path to deception. Persuading should not be as difficult as it is now; however, it doesn't exactly guarantee trust.

Deception is common in these stories.

But if I were to consider the skills of Haoyu, I would much prefer to avoid this.

Next option, Whisk of the War. It is a buff for all of your skills when you are in a helpless situation, but as it states, it rapidly drains your mana. Basically, a desperate move.

Another one is the 'Raging Breath'. This one used to be my favorite attribute. It accumulates all of your fury to amplify your strength and resilience.

But unfortunately, the stronger your inner turmoil is, the more you are consumed by this rage. So, you turn into a maniac with no self-control.

Funny, right?

The last one is… Imitative Mimicry? Hmm, it sounds familiar, but the contents are vague.

Of course, despite its ambiguity, the name already speaks for itself. So, I assume that I would be able to "mimic" other people.

But I have a ton of questions. Would I be able to mimic their skills? Or just their personality? Do I get to wear their skin? Am I going to be precisely a carbon copy of a person of my choice?

These questions were obviously left unanswered. Nonetheless, it leaves me intrigued.

But… I'm having a hard time deciding.

Speaking of deciding, I have not yet seen my character profile. If 'Du Gaein' is really gone, then who am I?

¿Woo Hyunho?

After cooling down on the ticklish grass, I swiftly sat up as if to check if my eyes had deceived me.

That guy?! The last person I ever wanted to possess was this guy.

Demon of the Cosmos. Shen Haoyu's eternal enemy! If Shen Haoyu had one massive regret, it would be having him as a companion.

Woo Hyunho had the exclusive attribute "ostensible plea" to attain Shen Haoyu as his comrade. They fought together and grew together.

But as Hyunho discovered Haoyu's status as a constellation, he enticed him into the hands of the bureau at the price of being a constellation himself.

Shen Haoyu must have escaped, though. He should have, knowing how persistent that man was.

You know, the best part about writing an unfinished story is that you don't know what will happen next.

That is why I would never want to finish my novels.

Back to where I was. I most certainly should not pick the ostensible plea. We already know the end of that path.

That just leaves me with the Whisk of the War, Raging Breath, and Imitative Mimicry.

I raised my hand towards either of the options, reluctantly hovering over each option until I eventually decided on one.

[Imitative Mimicry acquired!]

[The Constellation 'Personification of a glazed mark' laughs at your carelessness.]

[The Constellation 'Personification of a glazed mark' sponsored 100 coins.]

Rustling came from the bushes nearby, drawing attention to the place I least wanted to expect.

I had no weapons and hardly any useful skills. Dang it... I should've decided on an offensive skill rather than an enigmatic one.

I leapt right back up on my foot, trembling like a shrivelled leaf.

There's got to be at least a weapon nearby.

But as the rustling got even closer, I dashed behind a tree to distance myself from the perpetrator; however, muffled voices could be heard from across from me.

"I could've sworn I heard someone in here."

"Stop wasting your resources on the unfortunate."

"It's not wasting resources, Geonsu. It's either you hunt or be hunted."

As my eyes travelled around the bushes, I spotted an average-sized branch. It should be good enough to defend myself in desperate situations.

I crouched on my heels to moderate the noise my steps made. Eventually, I held the branch tightly as if it were my last hope.

CRACK!

Unfortunately, I appeared to be slower than I expected.

"Who are you?"

A sword that sheathed faster than light pointed threateningly at my iris. My body froze on instinct, too captivated by the face of the owner of the sword.

I recognized him…

"…Goo Seok?"

The glimmer of his eyes flickered at my words. Without any sympathy in his eyes, his sword swung mercilessly at me. My body shifted on instinct, barely dodging the savage beast.

My hand, lifting the not-so-impressive branch, swung below the attacker's feet, knocking the man down to the ground with a grunt, as I found myself back on my feet again.

I should really get out of here.

I'm no match for this maniac, but just as I was nearly about to plot my escape, his other partner grabbed me by the neck.

"What do you think you are doing?"

His grip was insanely strong. I was totally no match for both of them!

Just as the guy had me in a chokehold and was about to kill me on the spot, Goo Seok, the man I may have 'accidentally' knocked down, disrupted the attempted murder.

"Geonsu, release him now."
