Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 : The Message That Chose Him

The palace no longer felt like a place of power.

It felt like a place being watched.

Aditya Varma stood before the sealed chamber.

The guards posted outside avoided looking at him.

Not out of disrespect—

But fear.

Because since the artifact arrived…

Things had changed.

Not loudly.

Not violently.

But undeniably.

The air felt heavier.

The shadows lingered longer than they should.

And sometimes—

When no one was speaking—

There were still voices.

"…you hear them too."

Aditya didn't turn.

"I always did."

The Witness leaned against the far wall.

Casual.

Unbothered.

As if none of this concerned him.

"…but now they're clearer," Aditya continued.

"Yes."

Silence.

"…why?"

The Witness didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he asked:

"Why do you think?"

Aditya's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…because I'm getting closer."

A faint smile.

"Good."

Aditya stepped toward the chamber door.

The moment he did—

The air shifted.

Not violently.

Not visibly.

But something changed.

The guards stiffened.

One of them swallowed hard.

"…Your Highness… are you certain—"

"Open it."

No hesitation.

No doubt.

The doors were unsealed.

They opened slowly.

And the moment the chamber was revealed—

The world fell silent.

The artifact pulsed.

Stronger than before.

Not like a heartbeat anymore.

Like recognition.

Aditya stepped inside.

Alone.

The doors closed behind him.

And instantly—

The distortions began.

The walls stretched.

The chamber widened.

The floor beneath him felt distant.

And yet—

He remained still.

Because this time—

He wasn't resisting.

He was listening.

"…you called me."

The words left his mouth before thought.

The artifact responded.

Its surface began to glow.

Not with light.

But with symbols.

Not ancient.

Not futuristic.

Something beyond both.

And then—

They moved.

The symbols rearranged themselves.

Shifting.

Reforming.

Until they became something he could understand.

Not through language—

But through knowing.

A message.

Not spoken.

Not written.

Given.

Directly.

Into him.

The Words

And the message said—

"You were not meant to remember this soon."

Aditya's breath stopped.

The chamber trembled.

The symbols changed again.

"Deviation detected."

The air grew heavier.

"Correction accelerating."

Aditya's eyes widened slightly.

"…you're aware."

The artifact pulsed violently.

And then—

One final message.

The one that mattered most.

"FIND THE BOW."

The world shattered.

Aditya was thrown backward.

The chamber returned.

The walls stabilized.

The glow faded.

Silence.

The doors burst open.

Guards rushed in.

"Your Highness!"

But he didn't hear them.

Because his mind was still echoing with it.

That message.

That command.

That certainty.

"…the bow…"

"You saw it."

Aditya turned.

The Witness stood there.

Watching.

"…you knew this would happen."

A pause.

"Yes."

Aditya's gaze hardened.

"…and you didn't tell me."

"No."

"…why?"

The Witness's expression didn't change.

"Because it needed to choose you."

Aditya stepped closer.

"That thing… it's not just reacting to me."

"No."

"It's guiding me."

The Witness nodded slightly.

"Yes."

Silence.

"…toward what?"

The answer came slowly.

"Toward the point where everything begins to break."

Aditya looked back at the artifact.

Now he understood.

This was never random.

This was never accidental.

The cycle was not just repeating him.

It was leading him somewhere.

And that path—

Began with a single command.

Find the bow.
