🌹 THE ROSEGLID INTERNATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Episode 16 — "The Edge"
At
Roseglid International High School
some mornings didn't feel like a new start.
They felt like consequences.
Sunlight slipped through the large windows of Damien's room.
Soft.
Quiet.
Too peaceful.
On the bed—
Ashylene Rae Valyne
stirred slightly.
For a second—
she didn't remember where she was.
Then—
last night hit.
The house.
The tension.
The way he stood so close.
The way she didn't leave.
Her eyes opened fully.
"…great," she muttered softly.
She sat up quickly.
Looking around.
Minimal room.
Dark tones.
Clean.
And then—
him.
Damien Alexander Sinclair
stood near the window.
Already awake.
Already watching.
"You're staring again," she said, avoiding his eyes.
"You stayed," he replied.
"…don't make it a big deal."
"It is."
She stood up.
Fast.
"It's not," she said. "I just didn't want to go home late."
"Keep telling yourself that."
She grabbed her bag.
"…you're annoying in the morning."
"And you're avoiding me again."
Silence.
She didn't deny it.
Because she was.
And they both knew why.
The drive to school was quiet.
Too quiet.
Ash looked out the window.
Avoiding him.
Damien glanced at her occasionally.
Not speaking.
Not pushing.
Because something had shifted again.
And this time—
it wasn't just tension.
It was something deeper.
Something dangerous.
Section F noticed immediately.
Blake leaned forward.
"…she stayed over, didn't she?"
"SHUT UP," Ash snapped instantly.
Kai grinned.
"Oh that confirms it."
Jett clutched his heart.
"Our girl is growing up."
Ash threw a pen at him.
"Say that again and you're done."
Noah watched quietly.
His gaze shifted to Damien.
Then back to Ash.
Patterns were breaking.
And he didn't like it.
Classes passed.
But nothing felt normal.
Ash was quieter.
Still sharp.
Still sarcastic.
But—
softer.
In moments she didn't notice.
Damien?
More focused.
More controlled.
Because now—
he had to be.
Because the line—
had already been crossed.
Lunch.
The table was loud again.
Trying to bring back normal.
Blake started a story.
Kai laughed too hard.
Jett exaggerated everything.
Ash joined in.
But not fully.
Because every time she looked up—
her eyes found him.
And every time—
she looked away first.
"…this is getting boring," she muttered.
"Then fix it," Damien replied.
She looked at him.
"…you always say that like it's easy."
"It is."
"Then you do it."
Silence.
Challenge.
He leaned forward slightly.
"After school," he said.
"What about it?"
"Come to the bridge."
Her heartbeat picked up.
"…again?"
"Yes."
She hesitated.
Then—
"…fine."
Evening came.
The Rose Bridge stood quiet again.
Like it always did.
Ash arrived first.
Leaning on the railing.
Waiting.
She didn't like that.
Waiting meant caring.
And she didn't do that.
"…this is stupid," she muttered.
Footsteps.
She didn't turn.
"You're late."
"I'm right on time," Damien replied.
He stepped beside her.
Close.
Familiar.
Dangerous.
Silence settled.
Then—
he spoke.
"What are we doing?"
She frowned.
"…standing?"
"Don't joke."
She sighed.
"…I don't know."
Honest.
For once.
He looked at her.
Really looked.
And for a second—
everything else faded.
The plan.
The file.
The truth.
Just her.
Standing there.
Confused.
Guarded.
Real.
"You stayed," he said again.
She looked away.
"…stop bringing that up."
"Why?"
"Because it changes things."
"It already did."
Silence.
She turned to face him.
Eyes steady.
"…I don't do complicated."
"Neither do I."
"That's a lie."
He didn't deny it.
Because it was.
His phone buzzed.
He ignored it.
But it buzzed again.
And again.
Ash noticed.
"…someone's desperate."
He exhaled sharply.
Then—
checked it.
Unknown number.
"Now."
Another message.
"Do it."
His grip tightened.
Another.
"Or we will."
That changed everything.
His expression shifted.
Sharp.
Dark.
Ash noticed immediately.
"…what happened?"
"Nothing."
"Don't lie."
Silence.
He looked at her.
And for the first time—
he felt it clearly.
Fear.
Not for himself.
For her.
Footsteps.
Behind them.
Not one.
Multiple.
Ash turned.
Three guys.
Not from Section F.
Not friendly.
"…seriously?" she muttered.
One stepped forward.
"Phone," he said.
Ash laughed.
"You came all this way for that?"
Another moved closer.
"Don't make it hard."
Damien stepped in front of her.
"Walk away," he said coldly.
They didn't.
Big mistake.
The first guy swung.
Damien blocked it instantly.
Sharp.
Precise.
Ash stepped in too.
"Finally, some action," she said.
She moved fast.
Punch.
Kick.
Clean.
Controlled.
But there were three.
And they were coordinated.
This wasn't random.
Damien noticed.
And that made it worse.
Because this?
Was planned.
One grabbed Ash's wrist.
Hard.
She struggled.
"Let go—"
Damien moved instantly.
Pulled him off.
Hit harder this time.
No hesitation.
No control.
The third guy pulled something—
A sharp object.
Not big.
But enough.
Time slowed.
Ash's eyes widened.
Damien saw it.
And moved.
Fast.
Too fast.
He pushed her aside—
The blade grazing his arm instead.
Silence.
For a second—
everything stopped.
Ash froze.
"…Damien?"
The guy stepped back.
All three ran.
Gone.
Just like that.
Ash grabbed his arm.
"…you're bleeding."
"It's nothing."
"It's not nothing."
Her voice—
shaken.
Real.
He looked at her.
And for the first time—
she looked scared.
Not for herself.
For him.
His phone buzzed again.
He didn't check it.
Didn't need to.
Because now—
he knew.
This wasn't just a game anymore.
Ash tightened her grip slightly.
"…what is going on?" she asked.
And this time—
he didn't have an answer.
Far away—
in the shadows—
the hooded figure watched.
Calm.
Controlled.
A message sent.
"Phase complete."
Another.
"She's emotionally attached."
A final one.
"Now we break her."
