Chapter 3 - Feed Me.

[Welcome to the Realm Of Daln]

A pre-recorded voice started. "Hello, new trainee! Congratulations on awakening your HEARTS. Please go towards the white wall."

Killian looked ahead and saw a vast white wall. There was nothing else within the narrow space.

"Don't worry, you'll walk right through the wall. Prepare mentally and bring out your weapons before entry. You might be assaulted by a cute rabbit on entry, but do not be deceived, they are vicious...."

The voice went on but Killian stopped listening. His teachers had already given them a rundown on what should happen.

The training involved controlling an E-tier realms filled with only E-Rank monsters.

As Wardens, keeping foreign realms in check was beneficial for the longevity of humanity.

It was unknown how realms appeared besides their realm half a millennium ago, but it was normal to keep a realm deemed as a threat at less than 70% population to avoid an unprecedented attack.

With the blessings of the Goddess—Elements and the WLog that came when humanity was at the brink of destruction— it had been easier to control the violent realms around theirs.

"So," Killian walked down the narrow room, looking around at the sigil of the elements on the walls. "What's your deal, Void? Do you just consume stuff?"

He consumed a warning from the WLog. He couldn't understand how he could eat a system notification though.

"Not gonna speak to me?"

Silence.

It was fine. Killian had been ignored more times than he could count. As long as the Void remained trapped within him, he'd eventually speak to him.

Okay.

He stretched a hand through the wall and it went through.

That felt weird.

He dropped the bag his sister packed. She would be upset to know that he never planned to take it in. It would slow him down.

But he appreciated the thought so let her do what she wanted. He searched the bag, and pocketed healing strips, injections, and pulled out a bat.

He adjusted his jacket on his body, and breathed in and out.

As for the objective to Survive The Sun, that would be a problem for the future him.

Within another realm, all opening Objectives from the WLog were on hold.

Let's do this.

He pushed his body through the wall.

His vision became pitch black. He was sucked into a dark space, and disassembled to nothing. His consciousness faded in and out, along with the slight pain in his joints.

However, he still felt himself moving ahead. He was spat out in a bright landscape.

He nearly tripped on his foot but slammed the bat on the ground for support. He breathed in and out, then snapped his head to the white wall.

"What the heck was that!"

Had he nearly been eaten by a wall?

He stood in a grass plain, with muddy hills and burrows scattered around the vast plain. There were small lakes converging towards a hill.

The sky was like Earth's during spring. The breeze was cool. The place felt alive, and not where he expected 'monsters' to live in.

"Killian!"

He blinked, narrowing his eyes at the figure in front of him. Her light green hair and peering brown eyes were unmistakable. She still wore the uniform he saw her in today.

"Evelyn Constantine?"

She shrieked, jumping in one spot. "I knew it! I knew you'd awaken something! There was no way you were a Null!"

Killian only stared, confused. Quickly, he understood what could've happened and smiled back at her.

"You awakened something after I left?"

She suddenly raised her skirt.

Killian quickly looked away, then realized what she showed him. The sigil of the element on her lower left thigh. Those sigils appeared in strange places.

"I see. You awakened your family's wind element. I am happy for you, Evelyn. Truly." At least, there was a 'normal' miracle amongst them today.

She huffed proudly, folding her arms. "Of course! And you did too. Let me guess. The fire element?"

"Yeah," he didn't hesitate. "It's weird and black. But it's fire nonetheless."

She clapped once. "I knew it! I knew it!"

Killian just watched her.

Evelyn Constantine, like him, had come from a prestigious family of wind mages yet had a very low affinity to the element so was branded a Null.

However, unlike him, her family never gave up on her.

She received lessons on how to use the element, despite the 1% affinity that couldn't light up her WLog necklace.

Reality dawned on her when she joined the D-Rank class and was ostracized. The cheerful Evelyn became a ghost, moving around the school halls aimlessly.

But, she was back to the Evelyn Constantine he used to know.

"Are any of the others here?" Killian walked down the plain, passing Evelyn and staring at the vast landscape below the cliff he stood at.

He studied the place carefully but still couldn't see what danger this realm could have.

"No, none." She lowered her head.

He nodded. He would do enough for their sake. "We will kill twenty plus each. Stay close. We're a team."

"Sure!" Evelyn jumped off the cliff.

A glow flashed under her skirt and green mana enveloped her legs as she gently descended.

"Pretty cool, right?"

Killian studied how her mana worked with her physical capabilities. Would Void be able to do that with him? He needed to understand it quickly.

"Yeah. Could you shift a bit?"

She stepped back. Killian stood a step forward and fell straight down. He landed easily with a small thud and exhaled.

"Safe."

"Safe!" Evelyn repeated, and they continued down the plain towards the hill.

It must be a meeting point since there was no one in sight. He might see A-C students from his school if they were transported to the same realm as him.

Perhaps even his twin, Keith.

That might not be a good thing though.

"And this thing doesn't say anything," he muttered. "Only saying 'welcome' and 'devour'—"

"Did someone say 'devour'?"

Killian stopped walking. Finally! "You are awake now?"

"Yes, feed me already."

Feed? What does a Void eat? He remembered the black flames that had emanated from his body yet seemed to nourish him.

"Why did you eat the sunlight? You should be averse to it."

"I am. But you had awakened a fire element. I ate it. Now I am better suited it. I will just eat it."

So he had truly awakened the Fire element? And the Void element?

"Killian?" Evelyn called. Her neck was tilted, as she watched him talking to himself. "Are you alright?"

He wasn't. His fingers shook slightly and he hid them behind his back. Excitement.

His lips quivered with excitement.

He awakened two elements. And this Void could eat an element? There were endless possibilities.

Wasn't he immune to every element?

Just eat it.

Evelyn walked towards him. "Why did you stop?"

"Boy. That girl... Feed me."
