Isis could not help but sigh inwardly.
A surge of ill-timed excitement rose from deep within him. The activation of Mana Burn made him feel as though his abilities had leapt to an entirely new level.
In the next instant, all three War Shadows moved at once.
They were so fast that the Dungeon's pale blue light could barely leave a clear outline on them. Black blurs flickered forward as the three shadows lunged at him simultaneously.

Eight ice spikes condensed at once on either side of his body, their edges reflecting a cold gleam like eight shattered blades beneath the Dungeon's blue light.
Then he aimed four at the War Shadow on the far right—
and four at the one on the far left.
The moment the spikes shot out, the air split with a shrill whistle.
The War Shadow on the left dodged two of them.
War Shadows were far faster than beginner monsters like kobolds and goblins.
But it could not avoid the third.
The ice spike pierced through its left shoulder and pinned it to the stone wall.
The War Shadow on the right dodged three. The fourth sliced across its right arm, and a splatter of dark liquid, like scattered ink, burst from its black body. Its speed dropped a notch.
But for Isis, that tiny "buffer" of time was already enough.
By then, the one in the center had already dashed right up in front of him.
Its claws tore toward his face. Isis twisted his body and stepped half a pace diagonally forward—not opening the distance, but shortening it.

A burst of freezing air exploded in his palm. The ice crystals formed almost twice as fast as they had the last time.
This was the effect of Mana Burn—Isis's complete focus, with his mental power doubled.
A translucent ice-blue blade took shape between his fingers, its cold gleam reflected on the War Shadow's mirror-like face.
And then it stabbed straight through.
The tip of the Frost Soul Sword entered through the War Shadow's chest. The force drove it half a step backward, throwing off the path of its claws.
What should have struck his face instead scraped across the outer side of his right shoulder. Three black claw marks tore across it, taking away a sliver of warmth from his skin, but failing to cut deep.
A magic stone hit the ground.
The first War Shadow was dead.
Watching this scene, Alicia's fingers twitched slightly.
This child… is this really his first time fighting in the Dungeon?
To make that kind of decision…
The thought murmured through Alicia's mind, her eyes shining with admiration.
Clearly, she had begun to appreciate this new junior of hers.
As a high-level adventurer, she could tell at a glance that Isis's decision just now had not been a mistake.
It had been a calculated price.
In that instant, he had made a choice—trade a light wound for the enemy's death.

Black fluid seeped from the wound as it raised its head, the reflective surface of its face turning toward Isis.
The one on the right had caught up as well. Its right arm was injured, and its speed was slightly slower than before, but its claws were still sharp.
Yet Isis showed no sign of panic.
He spread both hands out before him, light and darkness crossing between them.
Under Mana Burn, he was fully capable of switching between multiple elements—or even using them at the same time.
"Dark Forbidden Domain!"
In that instant, the light around them seemed to be swallowed and erased by darkness itself.
A deep, shadowy magic circle formed, and in the blink of an eye it engulfed the second War Shadow entirely.
It was compressed into a sphere, completely "contained" within it—and then came the endless shattering.
Darkness fractured.
And with it, the War Shadow's body was crushed apart.
At the same moment, lightning burst from his left hand. Light-element power leapt and crackled before erupting.
It did not spread outward.
Instead, it drew upward into a single line, thin as a strand of spider silk.
But that line trembled, dense arcs of electricity crawling along it with a sharp sizzling sound.
Then Isis aimed the Lightning Chain directly at the last War Shadow.
The head of the chain struck the charging monster—and then spread.
Unlike the ice spikes, the lightning did not pierce.
Unlike a fire blast, it did not explode outward immediately.
It crept, spreading across the War Shadow's jet-black body like living current.
And finally, it compressed into a sphere of lightning that exploded with a roar, bringing the battle to its end.
Genius…
That was the only word Alicia could think of at that moment.
Isis's control over magic and his calmness in battle had far exceeded her expectations.
For a moment, it felt as though a storm surge had crashed through Alicia's heart—only to gradually settle once more.
As Lady Riveria's nephew, the talent Isis displayed was entirely worthy of that身份.

"I just didn't want you to disgrace Lady Riveria."
Then she resumed finishing the bandage, her voice calm.
"You're her nephew. Naturally, you should do better than other newcomers."
When she mentioned Riveria, something extra entered her tone—not deliberate, but naturally revealed reverence.
Isis glanced at her, said nothing, and merely smiled to himself.
Tsundere.
That was the judgment he made in his heart.
And, wisely, he did not say it out loud.
But thinking about it again, it was not difficult to understand.
Among the female elf members of the Loki Familia, eight out of ten had something to do with his aunt—either drawn in by her personal charisma, attracted by the name of elven royalty, or both.
The saying "beautiful elf mage corps" probably had not come out of nowhere.
His aunt's name really was absurdly effective as a banner.
