Chapter 16 - Letting Fate Decide

Eun-soo retreated to her bedroom, the soft glow of the city lights reflecting off the glass walls of her penthouse.

She changed into a comfortable patterned nightgown, feeling the cool cotton against her skin after a long day of unexpected events.

Having already had a light dinner with her mother at the spa, she climbed into bed, but her mind refused to rest.

The news of the marriage proposal from Kang Min-ho was surprising, yet she knew this day would eventually come for a girl in her position.

"I suppose it is time to think about the future," she whispered to the empty, elegant room. "I can't stay a 'simple' teacher forever."

But as she closed her eyes, it wasn't the face of the mysterious Kang heir that appeared; it was Jin-woo.

She thought of his calm, slightly cold, yet deeply gentlemanly behavior, and how he looked holding the sleeping Hajun.

"No, Eun-soo," she scolded herself, sitting up and hugging a pillow. "He was a married man, and he has a child. You are the heiress of a mogul."

"Marrying into a complicated situation would affect the company's reputation," she reasoned, trying to let logic override her heart.

She sighed, pulled her eye mask down, and finally forced herself to drift into a restless sleep.

Meanwhile, a few floors below in his own luxury apartment, Jin-woo was still awake in his minimalist study.

He was dressed in black lounge wear, the blue light from his laptop screen illuminating his sharp, focused features.

He had just finished a series of emails for A2, but his thoughts kept drifting away from code and toward the woman from the elevator.

He couldn't deny it anymore—Eun-soo was breathtaking, but it was more than just her physical beauty.

It was the way she carried herself, a natural grace that suggested she belonged to a world far more refined than a simple kindergarten classroom.

"She has this quiet balance," he muttered, leaning back in his leather chair and staring at the sprawling city view. "Like chaos simply doesn't belong near her."

He noticed how she never looked unsure of her place, moving with a quiet confidence that didn't need to prove anything to anyone.

Everything about her, from her soft-colored dresses to the way she spoke, felt intentional and perfectly balanced.

"It's like she's untouchable," he thought, his brow furrowing in confusion. "Like she belongs somewhere higher... a place I can't quite see."

He realized with a jolt that he was beginning to like her, perhaps more than a neighbor or a teacher should.

His deep thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a small tug on his leg.

He looked down to see Hajun standing there, rubbing his sleepy eyes and looking incredibly tiny in the large room.

"Uncle... I can't sleep," the boy whispered, his voice trembling slightly. "Can you help me?"

Jin-woo's expression softened instantly, all his complicated thoughts about Eun-soo vanishing in the face of the boy's need.

"Of course, Hajun," he said softly, scooping the boy up into his strong arms. "Let's get you back to bed."

He carried him into the blue-themed bedroom, which was filled with math puzzles and bookshelves, and tucked him in.

Jin-woo sat on the edge of the bed, gently patting Hajun's chest in a slow, rhythmic motion until the boy's breathing became deep and steady.

Once the child was asleep, Jin-woo walked to the full-length window and looked out at the glowing grid of Seoul.

"Let nature take its course," he told himself, his voice a low rumble in the quiet apartment. "If it's destined to happen, it will."

He felt a sense of peace wash over him as he decided to stop overthinking and let the future unfold on its own.

He returned to his study, finished his last report, and finally prepared for the busy Sunday that lay ahead.
