Chapter 36 - Prestige Power

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter transitioned from the winding, tree-lined coastal road onto the private, limestone-paved drive of the Hidden Cliff Hotel & Nature.

As the sun began to dip toward the horizon, the hotel's architectural silhouette emerged against the darkening Jeju sky a masterpiece of tiered stone and glowing glass that seemed to grow naturally out of the cliffside.

The building was bathed in a warm, amber luminescence, its horizontal lines mirroring the strata of the earth, while the surrounding greenery whispered in the evening breeze.

Jin-woo looked through the tinted window as the van slowed, his eyes widening slightly at the sight awaiting them at the grand entrance.

A long, perfectly straight line of staff members was already formed, standing with military precision under the massive cantilevered roof of the porte-cochère.

At the head of the line stood a group of individuals whose sharp suits and authoritative auras marked them as the elite leadership of the establishment.

Eun-soo felt a familiar knot of anxiety tighten in her chest; she had specifically messaged Oh Seung-joon, the family's private butler, to avoid a public spectacle, but it seemed her request had been overruled by tradition.

She smoothed her peach hoodie one last time, a small, ironic smile touching her lips as she realized how out of place her travel clothes looked against this wall of formal black and charcoal.

The van door slid open with a soft, hydraulic hiss, and the humid air of the cliffside rushed in, carrying the scent of damp earth and expensive jasmine.

Eun-soo stepped out first, followed by Jin-woo, who was still carrying a half-awake Hajun, and his parents, who walked with hesitant, awestruck steps.

Instantly, as if triggered by a single silent command, every head in the line snapped downward in a deep, synchronous bow.

"Welcome back to the island, Miss," a voice projected—clear, steady, and resonant with practiced loyalty.

It was Seo Min-jae, the General Manager, a man whose calm, perfectionist demeanor was legendary in the hospitality world.

Beside him, Park Ji-hoon, the intimidating Director of Operations, maintained a rigid posture, his sharp eyes scanning the group for any sign of incompetence to correct.

Front Office Manager Han Soo-jin offered a more elegant, subtle nod, her emotionally intelligent gaze immediately landing on Eun-soo's peach hoodie with a hint of protective warmth.

Even the Executive Chef, Luca Moretti, had stepped out of his kitchen, his white toque standing tall as he offered a rare gesture of professional respect.

Daniel Kim, the Head Concierge, stood ready with a tablet, his mind already calculating the logistics of the VVIPs standing behind the heiress.

Behind them stood the silent pillars of the hotel: the sharp Choi Eun-kyung, the observant Ryu Tae-hyun, the maternal Kang Mi-sook, and the technical Lee Dong-wook.

Guarding the rear was the stoic Jung Hyun-woo, the Head of Security, whose eyes never left the perimeter, and the bright-eyed intern Yoon Ji-ah, who looked like she was about to burst with curiosity.

Standing slightly apart was Oh Seung-joon, the private butler, whose silver hair and perfectly pressed tuxedo made him look like a ghost of old-world aristocracy.

Eun-soo let out a long, weary sigh that vibrated with a mixture of frustration and resignation.

"Oh Seung-joon... I thought I told you specifically that there was no need for a formal greeting this time," she said, her voice dropping the 'teacher' softness for a tone of quiet command.

The butler bowed again, his expression unreadable. "The Cha family's presence in Jeju must be acknowledged, Miss. It is a matter of standard, not choice."

Eun-soo sighed again, turning her head toward Jin-woo's group, who were standing in a stunned, silent cluster near the van.

"Please, stop the formalities immediately," she commanded the staff. "There are guests here. Please take them to their rooms and ensure they are comfortable."

While the adults were frozen in the social gravity of the moment, Hajun was the only one whose spirit remained light and unburdened.

He broke free from Jin-woo's hold, his feet hitting the pavement as he looked up at the long line of bowing adults with wide, sparkling eyes.

"Wow! Teacher!" he shouted, his voice echoing under the stone canopy. "You have so many people bowing to you! It's like you're a princess! Cool, cool!"

The boy began to clap his small hands enthusiastically, a bright, innocent sound that shattered the stiff tension of the arrival.

Eun-soo looked down at him, and for the first time since she had revealed her family name in the van, a genuine, radiant smile broke across her face.

The ice that had formed between her and the world during the long drive began to melt under the heat of Hajun's pure excitement.

She turned toward the department heads, her gaze lingering specifically on the Front Office Manager and the Head Housekeeper.

"You should take care of him properly," she said, her voice firm but kind. "If he needs anything—anything at all—give it to him. No need to ask for permission or check the bill."

She then looked directly at Jin-woo, who was standing like a statue, his eyes fixed on the "Director" he had just met.

"And take care of Mr. Jin-woo's family as well. They are my personal friends. Treat them as you would treat my own brother."

The staff was visibly taken aback; the Cha family did not use the word 'friend' lightly, and certainly not for guests arriving in a rental van.

Seo Min-jae, the General Manager, stepped forward, his sharp eyes taking a second, much closer look at Jin-woo.

Suddenly, a flicker of professional recognition sparked in his mind as he connected the face to the high-security briefing he had received from the provincial government.

"Ah... forgive me," Min-jae said, stepping toward Jin-woo and offering a respectful bow. "Mr. Jin-woo of Answer AI, I presume?"

"I am Seo Min-jae. Please accept my sincerest apologies for our negligence. We were... momentarily distracted by the Miss's arrival."

Jin-woo, regaining his composure with the practiced ease of a CEO, nodded curtly. "It's fine. I understand the priority."

Min-jae turned to Park Ji-hoon, the Operations Director. "Get their luggage handled immediately. Ensure the delicate equipment cases are moved by the senior porters only."

Jin-woo stepped forward, his hand reaching for his wallet. "Excuse me... I have a VVIP room booked for my work, but I'd like to upgrade my family's rooms to the same wing. I'm prepared to pay the difference."

Seo Min-jae hesitated, his brow furrowing slightly as he checked his mental inventory of the festival bookings.

"Mr. Jin-woo, I apologize, but due to the Fire Festival, every VVIP suite in the North Wing has been booked for months. We are at absolute capacity."

The silence that followed was awkward, a reminder of the limitations of money when compared to the scarcity of prestige.

Eun-soo, who had been watching the exchange, stepped forward, her presence suddenly filling the space between the two men.

"Open the family's private residential wing," she said, her voice leaving no room for argument. "Give them the rooms on the top floor."

Seo Min-jae's eyes widened in genuine shock. "Miss... the private wing? Those rooms are reserved exclusively for the Chairman and your brother. They haven't been used by guests in ten years."

Eun-soo didn't blink. "And today, they will be used by my friends. Is that a problem, Manager Seo?"

The General Manager bowed so low his forehead almost touched his knees. "Not at all, Miss. I will personally oversee the preparation."

Jin-woo looked at Eun-soo, his heart performing a strange, heavy somersault; he was standing in her world now, and the "Teacher" he had protected on the plane felt like a beautiful, fading ghost.

As the staff scurried to fulfill her orders, Eun-soo looked at Jin-woo—not as a teacher, and not as a director, but as the woman who had slept on his shoulder.

"Go and rest," she said softly, her voice just for him. "The view from the top floor is the best on the island. I'll see you at dinner."
