Chapter 309 - Back Home

The attendant led Lukas back through the corridors in silence.

She didn't speak or glance back to check if he was following. Before long, they passed through the entrance hall and out the front doors into the afternoon light.

His dark blue sedan sat at the bottom of the steps, but there was nothing else around.

The convoy was gone. All four cars, and all eight men in their dark suits were nowhere to be found.

He walked down the steps, glancing through the window into his car. The key was in the ignition where he'd left it, and nothing had been taken or changed. 

He glanced back to see the attendant still standing at the top of the steps, hands folded in front of her as she watched him. 

She made no attempt to hide it. Her eyes stayed on him the entire time, as if blinking even once would take him out of her sight. She was there to see him drive out of the property.

Lukas gave her a nod, but she didn't return it.

He got into the car and closed the door.
