Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Rival Gods

Chapter 13: The Rival Gods

Deep within the industrial labyrinth of the Kamino Ward, hooked up to a symphony of life-support monitors and oxygen tubes, the Emperor of the Underworld was listening.

All For One sat in the darkness of his medical vault, the audio feed from Kurogiri's warp gate playing softly through the speakers in the walls. He was blind, his face a scarred ruin from his last battle with All Might, but his mind was a vast, immaculate library. He had spent over a century collecting, categorizing, and bestowing Quirks. He knew the biological symphony of superhuman genetics better than any scientist on earth.

Through the speakers, he heard the chaotic battle at the Unforeseen Simulation Joint. He heard Tomura's furious screaming. He heard the deafening, concrete-shattering impacts of a newcomer trading blows with his bio-engineered masterpiece, the Nomu.

"Who the hell are you?!" Tomura's voice shrieked through the feed.

"The Sovereign said you needed a shield," an unknown boy's voice echoed back, ringing with the metallic resonance of a high-density Quirk.

All For One leaned forward in his medical chair, the tubes hissing as they adjusted to his movement. His lack of eyes did not stop him from "seeing" the data Kurogiri's subtle telemetry was sending back.

He analyzed the kinetic output of the boy fighting the Nomu. It was staggering. But it wasn't a standard strength enhancement. The shockwaves lacked the explosive, outward burst of All Might's One For All. Instead, the power was intensely localized—a hyper-dense, immovable physical manifestation of willpower. Kinetic Nullification and Density Shift, All For One cataloged in his mind.

Then, he heard the sound of another Quirk activating—a deep, resonant hum of golden-violet energy shielding Eraserhead. All For One's mind raced through his mental archives of the Musutafu Quirk Registry. He recognized the base frequency. Eternal Vitality. A passive cellular regeneration Quirk belonging to a boy named Akio. But this was projecting outward as a kinetic dome. A synthetic mutation, All For One deduced.

Finally, the telemetry picked up the tear in space high above the plaza. An iridescent, silver-blue portal. Gatekeeper, All For One noted, belonging to a shut-in named Rin. But expanded, altered, completely stabilized into a pocket dimension.

Three children. Three impossibly evolved Quirks. Three flawless genetic syntheses displaying absolutely no signs of cellular rejection, brain damage, or the catastrophic side-effects that plagued his own Nomu experiments.

All For One's breath hitched, the respirator wheezing loudly in the quiet vault.

A chilling, terrifying, and completely exhilarating realization washed over the ancient villain. The Hero Commission hadn't orchestrated this. Pro Heroes hadn't done this.

Someone else is handing out Quirks.

"Fascinating," All For One whispered into the dark, a cold, jagged smile stretching across his scarred face. "I thought I was the only gardener in this world. But it seems another god is planting seeds in my soil. A 'Sovereign' who can synthesize power flawlessly... without the messy burden of surgery."

His blind face turned toward the monitors. The endgame had just shifted. All Might was a dying flame, a symbol waiting to be extinguished. But this Winged Sovereign? This was a true rival. This was someone who could conquer the board.

"Play your opening move, Sovereign," All For One murmured, steepling his fingers. "I will be watching."

Back at the USJ, the central plaza was tearing itself apart.

Kenji's feet were planted deep in the cracked concrete. The Nomu shrieked, unleashing a flurry of devastating punches that moved faster than the human eye could track. But Kenji didn't blink. The silver, ethereal armor of his Knight's Vow flared with blinding intensity. Every time the Nomu struck him, the kinetic energy simply died against Kenji's chest, shattering into harmless silver sparks.

Because the Nomu had no soul, no desires, and no protective instincts, it could not comprehend the nature of Kenji's Quirk. Kenji wasn't just hitting hard; he was the physical embodiment of an immovable object.

With a roar, Kenji caught the Nomu's massive, purple fist in his hand. The ground beneath them cratered. Kenji twisted his hips, dragging the monster forward, and drove his silver-coated knee directly into the creature's exposed brain.

The Nomu screeched, stumbling backward and thrashing wildly.

"Get him, Nomu!" Shigaraki screamed, scratching his neck so hard blood began to well under his fingernails. "He's just a kid! Tear him apart!"

A few yards away, inside the golden-violet dome of the Aegis Pulse, Izuku Midoriya was pressing his hands against the glowing energy, watching the fight in absolute awe.

"His shock absorption..." Midoriya muttered frantically, his analytical mind racing. "The Nomu is built to absorb impact, but that silver armor doesn't use impact! It uses sheer, uncompromising density! It's perfectly countering the villain!"

Akio, kneeling beside the bleeding Eraserhead, gritted his teeth, keeping his hands pressed to the ground to maintain the dome. "Don't get comfortable, kid. We aren't the cavalry."

High above the chaos, hovering perfectly at the edge of Rin's massive, silver portal, Nocturne watched his pieces dominate the board. His Emotion Sight painted the USJ in vivid strokes. He could see Shigaraki's furious, crimson rage. He could see Aizawa's dull yellow confusion.

And then, he felt something else.

A blinding, overwhelming wave of pure, incandescent golden light erupted from the entrance of the facility. It was an aura so massive, so suffocatingly heroic, that Nocturne actually had to squint behind his moth-mask.

BOOM!

The heavy steel blast doors at the top of the entrance stairs were blown entirely off their hinges, twisting like foil as they crashed into the facility walls.

The dust settled. Standing in the doorway, his massive silhouette casting a long, terrifying shadow down the steps, was the Symbol of Peace.

"I had a bad feeling," All Might's voice boomed. It lacked its usual cheerful cadence. There was no trademark smile. There was only absolute, unadulterated fury. He ripped his suit tie away. "So I hurried here. And it seems I was right."

"Ah," Shigaraki hissed, a manic grin returning to his face. "The final boss is here."

"Fear not, students!" All Might roared, stepping forward. "Because I am here!"

In the blink of an eye, All Might vanished from the top of the stairs. The sheer air pressure of his movement blew the shallow water of the shipwreck zone into the air. He appeared instantly in the central plaza, effortlessly dispatching a half-dozen low-level thugs on his way.

He moved to grab Eraserhead and the students, but slammed face-first into the glowing, golden wall of the Aegis Pulse.

All Might blinked, looking down at the young vigilante maintaining the shield. Akio looked up at the towering, furious Pro Hero, sweating nervously.

"Release the barrier, young man," All Might commanded, his blue eyes flashing dangerously. "I will take it from here."

Up at the portal, Nocturne raised his hand and snapped his fingers. The sharp sound echoed perfectly through the cavernous USJ.

Akio immediately dropped his hands. The golden dome shattered into fading violet light. All Might moved with blinding speed, scooping up Aizawa, Midoriya, Tsuyu, and Mineta, and depositing them safely at the edge of the plaza in less than a second.

All Might turned back, his massive fists clenched. He looked at Shigaraki, then at the screeching Nomu, and finally up at the towering, dark-cloaked figure hovering in the portal above.

"Villains!" All Might boomed. "You have made a grave mistake attacking this school! And you, in the mask! Are you with these cowards?"

Nocturne glided slowly downward, the violet butterfly wings on his cloak pulsing. He stopped hovering ten feet above the plaza floor, looking dead into the eyes of the greatest hero in the world.

"We are not with the League, Toshinori Yagi," Nocturne's distorted voice whispered, carrying clearly across the silent plaza.

All Might flinched visibly. He knows my real name?

"Then who are you?" All Might demanded, his muscles tensing. "A vigilante? A mercenary?"

"We are the shadow cast by your blinding light," Nocturne replied calmly. "You have built a peaceful world, Symbol. But you are fading. And the cracks in your society are beginning to show. We are the immune system of a dying body. We protect the ones your Hero Commission prefers to forget."

The Nomu, recovering from Kenji's blow, suddenly let out a deafening roar and charged blindly at All Might.

"Kenji! Fall back!" Nocturne ordered, his voice cracking like a whip.

Kenji, covered in sweat but glowing fiercely, immediately disengaged. He leaped backward, soaring through the air toward the silver portal. Akio was right behind him, using a blast of kinetic force from his fists to launch himself up to the gateway.

All Might turned to intercept the charging Nomu, crossing his arms to block a massive, earth-shattering blow that sent shockwaves ripping through the USJ.

As the two titans clashed, Shigaraki looked up at the portal, his eyes burning with hatred. "You think you can just leave?! Kurogiri! Warp them!"

The mist villain tried to open a portal near Nocturne, but Rin—standing safely inside her pocket dimension—simply waved her hand. The spatial interference from her Sanctuary Phasing completely scrambled Kurogiri's coordinates, causing his purple mist to sputter and fail.

"Watch the god fall, Tomura," Nocturne said, his cloak swirling into the darkness of the silver portal. "And know that the Swarm is watching you."

With a sharp crack, the silver gateway snapped shut, leaving no trace of the Winged Sovereign or his avatars.

Hidden among the terrified students near the entrance, Yuga Aoyama watched the empty air where the Sovereign had been. His hands were shaking, not from fear, but from the sheer, overwhelming thrill of the game. The false god All For One thought he was pulling the strings. But Aoyama knew the truth.

The Sovereign had just rewritten the entire board.
