As the future king of the village, Ren has been training hard every passing day, he is doing this because it is the tradition of the village that the future king engage in a fight with the strongest fighter in the village.
In this fight, either the prince or the warrior comes out alive, no two souls must survive the fight.
As the day scheduled for the fight drew near, the prince practised to the point of what he will term as perfection. Until he caught Ryuu training, he realized that if a traveller could show such skills then he knew nothing. He decided to watch him practice everyday until he mastered some skills
One day, he was practicing what he just learnt when the Lord of the warrior clan spotted him.
" Weldone Ren," He salute the prince
" Welcome,great one"
"I can see you are really prepared for the fight contest" The Lord complimented him.
"I don't have a choice,great one. As long as I very much want to attain the throne of my father, I have to win the contest"
"That skill you were practicing, who taught you?" The Lord asked,his face darkening.
"I just happen to stumble on someone practicing it and I thought I should learn it"
"Which warrior practised in the open such that you were able to learn from him" The Lord said, visibly angry.
It is forbidden for any trained warrior to teach the prince or give him a chance to learn from him. Ren was aware of this.
"He is not a warrior, great one"
"Then who is he?, do not lie to me,Prince, only a warrior knows those skills you were practicing, only a trained warrior could practise in a way that you could learn easily, Ren, It is only a skilled warrior that uses the Bloom guide, now tell me who is this warrior that you have been watching?"
Ren was scared, if he confess Ryuu will be detected as a warrior and he might be appointed his fight mate and he is clearly no match for him. Ryuu will also be confined such that he will not be able to watch him practise.
"I already told what I know, don't ask me anymore questions" The prince mustered courage and walked away from the presence of the Warrior Lord.
"Remember it is an abomination for you to be trained by a warrior, Prince" The Lord called after him.
"All the warrior are confined". Ren said and walked away.
With the incident he witnessed earlier and with the words of the Warrior Lord, Ren was beyond convinced that Ryuu is a trained warrior and not just a traveller. So he decided to meet him and ask for his help, he does not care if it is an abomination or not.
