Chapter 176 - From Iron to Steel

The floor preserved the history of the project in three distinct sections.

Most of the warehouse still rested on the original stone, grey and even. Near the center, two discolored patches interrupted that surface. Beorn knew what they meant the moment he saw them. 

Heat had escaped there at extreme temperature, leaving behind the unmistakable evidence of a failure before a run could properly begin.

Between those marks lay a section of repaired flooring, the newer cement slightly paler than the surrounding stone. The repairs had not been small.

Looking across the room, he could reconstruct what happened easily enough. 

The Bessemer converter stood where all three sections met, mounted on its pivot frame.
