Chapter 141: Yami's Fury
Rumble!
Far out on a suburban highway beyond Tokyo, a blinding streak of lightning tore across the road at terrifying speed.
The asphalt shattered beneath it.
Every step carried enough force to crack the ground like brittle glass. Violent air currents twisted behind Yami, forming a white trail of compressed wind that ripped up road signs, snapped branches, and sent loose debris flying in every direction.
Faster.
Faster.
Yami roared the word inside his mind until it became the only thing left.
His eyes were bloodshot, the crimson in them so dense they looked like flames burning inside his skull. On his forehead, the Demon Slayer Mark gave off a frightening heat, warping the air around him.
Total Concentration.
Thunder Breathing, First Form: Thunderclap and Flash, Godspeed.
It was the fastest and most explosive technique in Thunder Breathing.
Under normal circumstances, the burden it placed on the leg muscles was so severe that it could only be used a few times before the body began breaking down.
Yami no longer cared.
Life, death, pain, consequences, none of it mattered now.
He squeezed every last bit of potential from his body, forcing himself to maintain Godspeed at its absolute limit.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
His heart hammered violently in his chest.
His pulse had already broken past two hundred beats per minute. Boiling blood surged through him like a flood, carrying oxygen and strength to every muscle, every nerve, every inch of his body.
And yet, at that impossible speed, his mind was clear.
Too clear.
It was the kind of cold clarity born from rage pushed beyond its limit.
As he ran, Yami replayed everything that had happened.
The attack at the Okinawa aquarium.
The negotiation at the underground horse racing track.
The trap inside that rotten apartment.
Every scene.
Every word.
Every expression Toji Fushiguro had shown him.
All of it was torn apart and examined in his mind.
Then one memory surfaced.
A few days ago, when he had noticed someone watching Tokyo Jujutsu High from afar and activated Transparent World, his gaze had locked with the hidden observer through the distance.
At the time, Yami had believed his own perception had pierced through Toji's concealment.
He thought he had intimidated the assassin.
He thought he had forced Toji to hesitate.
But looking back now, a chill crawled up his spine.
"No."
His teeth clenched hard enough for blood to seep from his gums.
"I didn't see through him."
His eyes sharpened with fury.
"He let me see him."
Yami finally understood just how terrifying Toji Fushiguro's tactics were.
That man's Heavenly Restriction body had no Cursed Energy. His concealment had been refined through years of killing sorcerers until it reached a level most people could not even imagine.
If Toji truly wanted to hide, even Transparent World would not have caught him so easily from that distance.
He had shown himself on purpose.
He had intentionally revealed a flaw.
The goal was to plant a false confidence in Yami's mind.
The illusion that everything was still under control.
He had used Transparent World against him.
He had used Yami's knowledge of the future, his desire to grasp the whole situation, his desperate need to prevent every tragedy before it happened.
As long as I can keep my eyes on him, he can't do anything.
That belief had been built on false information from the very beginning.
And because of that belief, when the negotiation at the horse racing track failed and Toji threw out the bait called Megumi Fushiguro, Yami had taken it.
Without hesitation.
Toji had seen through him.
He knew Yami was strong.
He also knew Yami carried a near-paranoid desire to save everyone.
Someone like that would never ignore a possible bargaining chip that could restrain the enemy.
Even if that bargaining chip was a helpless five-year-old child.
So Toji placed his own son on the board like a discarded piece.
And with that, he successfully completed the perfect diversion.
"Bastard!"
Yami's roar ripped through the night.
The killing intent surging from him seemed to tear straight through the clouds above.
He had been calculated from beginning to end by that man with no Cursed Energy.
Not overpowered.
Not outpaced.
Outplayed.
That humiliation, the realization that Toji had led him by the nose while he believed he was the one controlling the board, pushed Yami's anger to its peak.
But beneath the rage, something colder and far more terrifying remained.
Fear.
Because he knew exactly what was happening at Tokyo Jujutsu High.
Satoru Gojo had kept Limitless active for three days straight. His body and mind had been pushed to the edge. The moment he stepped inside the barrier, the moment he believed the mission had reached safety, would be when his vigilance dropped to its lowest point.
And Toji Fushiguro would never miss an opening like that.
"Hold on, Satoru Gojo."
Yami forced his legs harder.
"Suguru. Riko."
The red warnings on his retina were still flashing.
[Warning! Vital signs of key plot characters are dropping rapidly!]
The gears of fate had begun turning toward the deepest abyss.
"You absolutely cannot die here!"
Yami pushed his Breathing Technique even further.
His leg muscles began to tear under the pressure. Fine beads of blood seeped through his skin, only to be scattered behind him by the wind.
He became red lightning cutting through the darkness, racing toward Tokyo Jujutsu High with a speed that bordered on self-destruction.
Faster.
Faster.
He had to make it.
Meanwhile, inside Tokyo Jujutsu High's barrier, the smell of blood had already begun to spread.
Satoru Gojo knelt on one knee, blood pouring from the wound that pierced through his chest.
Pain came in waves, crashing through his body and battering his already exhausted brain.
Even so, his Six Eyes stayed locked on Toji Fushiguro.
Not a trace of retreat appeared in them.
"Suguru."
Gojo forced down the taste of blood rising in his throat.
His voice was low and hoarse.
"Take Riko and go. Head to the Tomb of the Star Corridor."
His breathing was uneven.
"Leave this guy to me."
Suguru Geto stood in front of Riko, his brows drawn tight.
"Satoru, in your current state…"
"I said leave it to me!"
Gojo raised his head.
His face was pale as paper, but the corner of his mouth lifted into an arrogant smile that was almost mad.
"It's just a bite from a fly with no Cursed Energy."
Blood slid down his chin.
"I am the strongest."
No one had ever injured Satoru Gojo this badly and walked away unharmed.
Geto stared at him.
As his best friend, he understood Gojo's pride better than anyone.
And right now, protecting the Star Plasma Vessel took priority.
Geto's hands tightened.
"Don't die, Satoru."
He left those words behind, then summoned a flying Cursed Spirit. Grabbing the terrified Riko, he turned and rushed toward the underground passage leading to the Tomb of the Star Corridor.
Riko kept looking back.
Tears blurred her vision.
The white-haired boy who always declared himself the strongest now looked frighteningly unstable from behind.
But even then, he stood between her and death.
When Yami finally returned to Tokyo Jujutsu High in that near self-destructive state, what kind of hell would be waiting for him?
Would he reach first for the lives of his companions, trying to drag them back from the edge of death?
Or would he draw Shiranui and strike at the Sorcerer Killer with everything he had?
At the center of the storm, the curtain had already risen.
The slaughter had begun.
