[The Omniverse - The Apex Adventurer's Guild]
The Apex Adventurer's Guild was a massive, roaring meadhall filled with thousands of independent heroes. They were celebrating their latest victory, drinking ale and boasting about the wild dragons they had slain in the unregulated outer forests.
Guildmaster Gideon, a massive, scarred barbarian, stood on a table. "We don't need the Tycoon's pay-to-play dungeons! The wilderness is free! Tomorrow, we ride to the Whispering Woods to exterminate the Goblin Tribes!"
The heavy oak doors of the guildhall were suddenly blown open by a localized gravity field.
Victor Thorne walked into the meadhall. His midnight-blue suit was immaculate, absorbing the flickering light of the hearth. He was flanked by Seraphina and three faceless, golden auditors from the Omniversal Trade Commission (OTC).
"The wilderness is free, Guildmaster Gideon," Victor said smoothly, the ambient noise of the meadhall dying instantly under the weight of his Tycoon's Aura. "But operating a commercial enterprise within it is strictly regulated."
Gideon drew a massive battleaxe. "We are independent heroes, Thorne! We don't use your hardware or your cloud! You have no authority here!"
"I don't," Victor checked his gold pocket watch. "The government does."
Victor nodded to the OTC auditors. They floated forward, projecting a massive, glowing red failing grade onto the wall of the guildhall.
"Guildmaster Gideon," the lead auditor boomed. "The OTC has implemented mandatory Corporate ESG compliance across all dimensions. We are here to audit your Environmental, Social, and Governance score."
Gideon blinked, lowering his axe. "My what?"
"Your ESG score," Seraphina smirked, reading from her silver clipboard. "Environmentally, your guild's continuous extermination of wild dragons has severely disrupted the localized biodiversity, and your use of unregulated fireball magic constitutes a catastrophic carbon footprint."
"Socially," Victor stepped forward, tapping his gold-nibbed pen against his Ledger. "I have reviewed your guild roster. You exclusively hire humans, elves, and dwarves. You have absolutely zero demonic, goblin, or undead representation in your C-Suite. Your hiring practices are discriminatory."
Gideon stared at the human in absolute disbelief. "We are heroes! We kill demons and goblins! We don't hire them!"
"And that lack of inclusivity is why you have failed your Social metrics," Victor adjusted his cuffs.
"The Apex Adventurer's Guild has an ESG score of zero," the OTC auditor slammed a glowing gavel. "Effective immediately, your operating license is suspended. You are legally barred from accepting quests, hunting monsters, or leaving this building until you achieve a net-zero carbon footprint and diversify your board."
The thousands of heroes sat in stunned, horrified silence. They had spent their lives training to fight Dark Lords, only to be legally shut down by environmental regulations and diversity quotas.
"I look forward to reviewing your updated sustainability report, Gideon," Victor smiled a cold, ruthless smile, turning to walk out the door.
