Chapter 102 - The Flash Crash

[The Omniverse - Abyssal Data Headquarters]

The High-Frequency Trading algorithm had been running for seventy-two hours. Abyssal Data, commanded by CEO Elara, had siphoned an unfathomable amount of capital from the Omniversal banking sector.

Elara burst into Victor's executive office, her Growth Partner blazer wrinkled with panic.

"Victor! The Central Omniversal Bank caught on!" Elara projected a massive, glaring red holographic chart. "They realized we are front-running their trades. To counter us, they have deployed 'Predator Algorithms'—massive AI scripts designed to flood the network with fake buy orders to confuse our system and bleed our capital!"

Victor Thorne sat behind his mahogany desk, taking a slow sip of his black coffee. "They are attempting to spoof the market."

"It's working!" Elara yelled. "Their algorithms are overwhelming our node! If we don't shut the HFT system down, we will lose everything we just skimmed!"

Princess Ignis gripped her broadsword. "Let me go to the Central Bank and smash their servers!"

"No, Ignis. We do not destroy liquidity; we absorb it," Victor pulled his gold pocket watch from his vest. "If the Central Bank wants to rely entirely on automated algorithmic trading, then we will show them the inherent flaw of emotionless machines."

Victor tapped his gold-nibbed pen against the Tycoon's Ledger.

"Algorithms are programmed with strict risk-management parameters," Victor explained smoothly, his Tycoon's Aura suffocating the panic in the room. "If the market drops too fast, the algorithms are hard-coded to panic-sell everything to prevent total bankruptcy. It is an automated failsafe."

Victor slashed his pen across the Ledger.

"Seraphina," Victor called out to his Cloud CEO. "Execute a massive, localized dump of Pantheon Tokens. I want you to artificially crash the price of the entire market by ninety percent in exactly one millisecond."

Elara gasped. "You're crashing the entire Omniversal economy?!"

"I am triggering a Flash Crash," Victor smiled a ruthless, calculating smile.

The moment Seraphina executed the dump, the Apex Exchange registered a catastrophic anomaly. Seeing the instantaneous 90% plunge, the Central Bank's "Predator Algorithms" panicked. Their hard-coded risk-management protocols overrode human input. In an attempt to save themselves, the Bank's computers automatically market-sold every single asset they owned at rock-bottom prices.

For exactly three seconds, the Omniversal economy was worth pennies.

"The Bank's algorithms have liquidated their entire portfolio," Victor noted coldly, watching the charts bleed red. "Buy it."

The Tycoon's Ledger flared with golden light. In the fourth second, Victor's HFT algorithm bought the entirety of the Central Bank's dumped assets for a fraction of a fraction of their actual value.

In the fifth second, the market stabilized and the prices instantly rebounded to their normal levels.

"The Flash Crash is over," Victor checked his Rolex, snapping it shut. "And we just legally acquired the Central Bank's entire portfolio for pocket change. Send them a 'Thank You' card."
