Chapter 32- Evolution Master (Part 5)
The spikes flew out of the monster, invading the building as they riddled the walls, covering them completely. Rein only had a split second to react to that before getting poked and turned into swiss cheese.
His body moved instinctively as he dashed forward and slid under the table before he kicked it to create a barrier between him and the monster. The spikes stabbed the table, digging deep into it and barely stopping before hitting him.
'...' His eyes widened seeing one of the spikes stopping merely a millimeter away from his eyes. Blinking twice, he then peeked from the side slightly.
"RAWR!!!" The bear growled loudly as if angered by the fact that it didn't get its target. It started hitting the building with its paw, shaking it with every hit.
"Tough luck, bastard," Rein said with a cold look on his face as he started crawling back toward the door. 'I need to get out of here before it does something even crazier.' He thought to himself as he stood up and ran the last few meters, as he slid out and closed the door behind him.
A second later, even more spikes came, piercing through the door as they flew toward him. Rein had already anticipated that, so he quickly dashed out of the way.
"Fuuuuh…" He exhaled as he looked behind him. "What do I even do about this thing? It won't leave me alone. Which is somewhat good, but I truly don't know how I could kill it. If my sword can't pierce it and I doubt I can trick it into a trap like the eagle… Then, what should I do?
Rein knew that no normal method could truly kill this creature. It was simply so much stronger that Rein was truly powerless before it. However, at the same time, he knew he couldn't escape it.
'Grizzly bears can smell you from miles away… Those are NORMAL grizzly bears. I can imagine this one's senses are heightened 10x. I wouldn't be able to escape for long, and leading it back to the base would be a very bad idea.'
With clenched teeth, Rein rushed up the stairs to the second floor. Reaching a random window, he peeked outside. The monster was naturally still there, roaming the place as it growled loudly.
"..." Rein pursed his lips as he watched its movements quietly, trying to remain out of its vision. 'It can't enter the building, or it's hesitant to do so, thinking I might do something. Smart bastard.'
Exhaling, Rein kept watching the monster for a while. His mind is thinking of a thousand possibilities. That was one of the many things that improved about Rein; his thinking speed and mental strength were levels above what he had been before.
He already had an inhumanely fast thinking speed, and now it was even more ridiculous.
'If I can't kill it with normal ways… I need to somehow weaken it enough so that it can't really resist anymore and then finish it off. To weaken it… Render it completely immobilized or stunned enough to deliver a deadly blow…' He thought to himself. 'Weaken it… Wait…!!!'
Rein's eyes suddenly widened as if he felt like he was just struck by lightning. A devious idea formed in his head, one so insane that he found himself slowly smiling at the mere thought of it.
'I'm either going to die doing this, or I'm the smartest man this world has ever seen. No in between.' He thought to himself as he turned around and walked out of the room. 'Let's get that overgrown furry some taste of its own medicine.'

"Rein is stuck inside that building, and that bear isn't leaving him be…" Violet muttered as she watched the bear from afar, her hand clutching her cycle as if her life depended on it.
"We can't really do anything against that creature, Violet. Have you not seen what it could do? If we even as much as get close to it, we will be brutally killed." Alex replied. "That bastard brought it upon himself to drag it all the way here and get himself stuck in that place. He can act a hero all he wants."
"Alex." Violet stared at him with a cold glare on her face. "Enough."
"..." The man pursed his lips before he looked away. "In any case, there isn't much we can do. He needs to escape that place."
"..." Violet didn't reply as she kept watching the bear silently.
"Don't tell me you're thinking about trying to lure it away."
"... If I can somehow-"
"No, no, no, no. There is no way you will do that. It's a death sentence, you hear me? That thing is way stronger than us. Even that bastard looked like he was getting beaten up trying to fight it. We will very much die in a minute."
"But, Rein… I can't let him die. I would rather put my life at risk than let him die." Violet replied with a serious tone as she stared at Alex.
The man was completely taken aback by how strong and direct her words were. She didn't even seem that hesitant about putting her life at risk for Rein, and that made him completely speechless.
He could see it in her eyes, that complete determination to do everything she could for Rein, and it made his heart squeeze tightly, and a strong, bitter feeling overwhelmed him.
His eyes flashed with a weird glint before he looked down. "Why?"
"Hm?"
"Why… Why are you doing all of this for that man? Why?" He asked.
"..." Violet was surprised by the question before she looked away. She herself asked that question before, why she looked at Rein that way. Why does she always think about him? Why does she always look forward to talking to him or seeing him, even for missions and work and nothing else?
She looked forward to their bickering, for their small talks between each mission. She wanted it all, and she felt like she was herself every time she was with him. No other person in the world made her feel that way, and it naturally made her question what she felt toward Rein.
"It's…" She muttered. "I just want it. I just really want it."
She said.
"You want it?"
"Yes. I really want it, and so I will do it." She replied. "I would rather die than not do what I want, and that is exactly what I want."
'To protect Rein, just like he protects me, and to help him just like he helps me. That's what I want to do for the rest of my life.' She clenched her fists as she stood up, ready to yell and catch the monster's attention.
However, at that moment, she saw something that made her squint. Out of a window on the side of the building, a silhouette emerged.
It was Rein. He snuck around the corner and peeked at the monster. She could see that he was carrying something, but she couldn't tell what it was in the darkness. Then, he stood up and emerged out of his hiding spot.
'Huh? What is he doing?!'
