Chapter 100 - The Warmth of Sunlight

After excluding the three "traitors," there weren't many captains left to notify.

Soi Fon wasn't injured, leaving only Zaraki Kenpachi, Kuchiki Byakuya, and Kurotsuchi Mayuri outside Squad 4.

Mayuri refused Kyōraku's invitation outright. As long as his basic bodily functions were restored through Kaidō, he could simply modify his own body. Instead of going through the trouble of healing, he preferred to replace any malfunctioning parts altogether.

Byakuya had no intention of coming at first either. As a noble, he had access to private medical facilities and had no need for Squad 4. But upon hearing that Squad 4 could accelerate recovery, he changed his mind.

As Rukia's brother, there was no way he would truly abandon her. He needed to recover quickly—to secure even the slightest chance of saving her.

As for Kenpachi—

The moment he heard Tsuna was in charge of treatment, he rushed out immediately.

Fortunately, Kyōraku knew him well and contacted Madarame Ikkaku in advance—otherwise, Kenpachi would've gotten lost in the Seireitei again.

"Oi! Sawada Tsunayoshi, right? When are we fighting again?!"

The moment Kenpachi entered, he challenged Tsuna.

Tsuna ignored him and casually greeted Yachiru perched on his shoulder. Ikkaku found a corner seat, clearly planning to take advantage of the healing as well.

Byakuya arrived last.

The atmosphere noticeably cooled when he stepped in. His gaze lingered briefly on Tsuna before he silently moved to a corner.

"Alright, everyone's here," Kyōraku said as he shut the door. "Tsunayoshi-kun, the stage is yours."

"Wait—Captain Kyōraku, you didn't notify Captain Tōsen?" Komamura suddenly asked. "He's injured too."

Kyōraku froze.

He had forgotten—Komamura and Tōsen were close friends.

Explaining this would be… troublesome.

Tsuna sighed.

Looking at Komamura's tense posture, it was obvious—this wouldn't end without an answer.

"I'll be the bad guy," Tsuna said. "Komamura… your friend Tōsen Kaname has betrayed Soul Society."

Boom!

Komamura exploded with rage, cracking the tatami beneath his feet as he grabbed Tsuna by the collar.

"What did you say?! Tōsen would never betray us!"

"He has the noblest ideals! He's always fought to make Soul Society better! Someone like him could never betray it!"

His voice grew strained—even as he tried to convince himself.

Tsuna gently removed his hand.

"Komamura… just like the helmet you wear—have you ever truly understood who Tōsen is?"

"You're just a Ryoka! What right do you have to say that?!"

"At the very least… I understand what he wants better than you do."

A Mist trident appeared in Tsuna's hand.

With a light tap on the ground, mist spread—

Forming an illusion.

A younger Tōsen… and a kimono-clad woman appeared.

"Before he met you, Tōsen had a close friend—Kakyo."

"Because of his blindness, he was always discriminated against. But Kakyo never looked down on him. She treated him with kindness he had never known."

"To him, she became the most important person in his world."

"Later, Kakyo was forced to abandon her dreams and marry Tsunayashiro Tokinada."

"And not long after… she died."

"When Tōsen naively believed the Tsunayashiro Family would bring justice… Tokinada personally told him the truth—"

"That he himself had killed Kakyo."

Tsuna looked at Komamura.

"At that moment… what do you think Tōsen felt?"

Komamura collapsed to his knees.

"…I didn't know… he had such a past…"

"In the end, Tōsen took up Kakyo's Zanpakutō and began wandering. From that moment on—he was never destined to fight for the nobles of Soul Society."

The illusion dissipated.

"He only told me… it was a gift from a friend…" Komamura muttered.

After a long silence, he slowly removed his helmet—revealing his wolf-like face—and bowed.

"Lord Sawada… thank you for telling me this. But I still wish to speak with Tōsen myself. I believe… he is not a bad man."

"He just chose the wrong path," Tsuna said. "He only wants revenge against Tokinada."

"Also… you don't need to wear that helmet. No one here will judge you."

Komamura looked around.

There was curiosity—but no discrimination.

Yachiru had already run up beside him, calling him "doggy" and mimicking Tsuna.

After a moment, Komamura made his decision.

"My name is Sajin Komamura, of the his clan."

Seeing the smiles around him, the tension in his heart finally eased.

"The Tsunayashiro Family again…" Kyōraku sighed. "Ukitake, you've got your work cut out for you."

"Shunsui… this might not be the best time to bring that up," Ukitake said, glancing at Byakuya.

Among the Four Great Noble Houses, the Tsunayashiro Family was the most notorious—even among nobles.

Byakuya ignored them entirely.

"Since everything's settled, let's finish this quickly," Tsuna said.

He switched to his Sun Flame Gauntlets.

Brilliant, warm light filled the room.

Under that sunlight-like glow, everyone unconsciously closed their eyes.

Fatigue faded.

Wounds—already treated—began rapidly healing.

Not everyone stayed still.

A pink-haired figure climbed onto Tsuna's shoulder.

"So bright, Tsuna!" Yachiru giggled, reaching out.

Tsuna tapped her hand playfully.

She had no injuries—so she simply enjoyed the light.

They passed the time playing a simple hand game.

After a while, the light faded.

The treatment was complete.

Everyone had fully recovered.

"What a fascinating ability, Tsunayoshi-kun," Kyōraku said.

He reached for his chin—then froze.

His beard had grown wildly.

"Big fluffy dog!"

Yachiru leapt onto Komamura, burying her face in his now long, soft fur.

The side effect of Sun Flames—

Accelerated cell activity meant accelerated hair growth.

Short hair became long.

As for Komamura—

He had effectively turned into a giant fluffy dog.

"Ahem… I have urgent matters to attend to," Komamura said, lifting Yachiru and placing her onto Kenpachi. "Lord Sawada, thank you. I will personally confirm the truth with Tōsen!"

He vanished immediately.

"Well… this beard needs fixing," Kyōraku sighed. "We'll be heading back. Until next time."

Ukitake nodded and followed.

They needed to share Tsuna's intelligence with the others.

"Sawada Tsunayoshi—next time, we fight," Kenpachi said awkwardly.

His newly grown facial hair clearly bothered him.

Ikkaku followed—

Now sporting grass-like hair on his previously bald head.

Tsuna blinked.

So… Ikkaku shaved his head on purpose?

The red eye markings made a lot more sense now.

Byakuya left near the end.

Unohana had already left—likely unwilling to be seen looking less than composed.

"Thank you," Byakuya said as he passed Tsuna.

Even with slight facial hair, he still looked composed—like a refined nobleman.

"Byakuya—Rukia will be fine at the Sōkyoku," Tsuna said quietly.

The unexpected nickname made Byakuya pause.

He gave a slight nod before leaving.

"You really like giving people nicknames, don't you?"

Tsuna turned.

Hitsugaya stared at him with deadpan eyes.

"From now on—address me as Captain Hitsugaya."

"Got it, Shiro-chan," Tsuna replied instantly.

Hitsugaya froze.

He wanted to punch him.

But… he couldn't win.

Maybe that was exactly why Tsuna acted so freely.
