Chapter 11 - Chapter 10 — What Are You?

The room was quiet.

Not the same kind of quiet as before.

This one—

Watched.

Kaizen stepped inside.

The door closed behind him.

Slow.

Final.

The instructor stood near the center.

Waiting.

"…you took your time."

"I came when you called."

A pause.

"…fair."

Silence stretched between them.

But it wasn't empty.

It was—

Measured.

"…show me."

No explanation.

No buildup.

Just—

A command.

Kaizen didn't hesitate.

His hand rose.

Focus settled.

And the line formed.

Instant.

Clean.

Stable.

The air bent around it slightly.

A faint distortion—

Sharp.

Controlled.

The instructor didn't interrupt.

Didn't move.

He watched.

Carefully.

"…again."

Kaizen released it.

Then formed it again.

Faster.

More precise.

The line extended slightly.

Not much.

But enough to notice.

"…stop."

Kaizen lowered his hand.

The energy vanished.

Silence returned.

He could feel it now.

The difference.

Before—

He had been trying.

Now—

He understood.

"…that isn't standard formation."

The instructor's voice was calm.

But there was something beneath it.

Something sharper.

"…what are you doing?"

Kaizen thought about it.

About the feeling.

About the way the energy didn't feel like his.

"…I'm not creating it."

The instructor's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…explain."

"…it's already there."

A pause.

"…I just follow it."

Silence.

He stepped closer.

Slow.

Measured.

"…trace-based control."

The words were quiet.

But heavy.

"…that shouldn't be possible at your level."

Kaizen didn't respond.

Because levels—

Didn't feel relevant anymore.

"…who taught you this?"

"No one."

"…then how?"

Kaizen hesitated.

Just for a moment.

"…I can feel it."

The room seemed to tighten slightly.

"…feel what?"

Kaizen's gaze shifted upward.

Not at the ceiling—

But beyond it.

"…something."

Silence.

Longer this time.

The instructor followed his gaze.

Then—

"…describe it."

Kaizen frowned slightly.

Trying to find words.

"…it's not close."

"…but it's not far either."

"…it watches."

A pause.

"…and it reacts."

The instructor didn't move.

Didn't speak.

But something changed.

Subtle.

Almost invisible.

"…reacts to what?"

"…to me."

That answer stayed.

Hanging in the air.

Heavy.

Uncomfortable.

"…that's impossible."

But the instructor didn't sound convinced.

He sounded—

Concerned.

"…do it again."

Kaizen raised his hand.

Formed the line.

This time—

The instructor stepped closer.

Much closer.

Watching every detail.

"…again."

Kaizen adjusted.

The line shifted slightly.

More precise.

More aligned.

The air distortion deepened.

Just a little.

"…stop."

Silence.

Then—

"…you're not just tracing."

The instructor's voice dropped slightly.

"…you're syncing."

Kaizen didn't understand that word.

"…syncing?"

"…matching something external."

A pause.

"…something bigger."

The room felt heavier again.

"…that shouldn't be happening."

Kaizen lowered his hand.

"…but it is."

Silence.

Then—

The instructor stepped back.

Decision made.

"…this changes things."

No explanation.

No comfort.

Just—

Truth.

"…from now on, your training is restricted."

Kaizen's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…restricted?"

"…you train only with me."

A beat.

"…no public sessions."

"…no demonstrations."

"…no exposure."

That word stayed.

Exposure.

"…why?"

The instructor met his gaze directly.

"…because if others notice what you are—"

A pause.

"…it won't stay contained."

Silence filled the room again.

But this time—

It felt different.

Not controlled.

Not measured.

But—

Unstable.

"…and if that thing you're connected to—"

The instructor's voice lowered slightly.

"…notices you fully—"

Kaizen felt it.

That presence.

Distant.

Watching.

"…we won't be able to stop what comes next."

The words settled.

Heavy.

Final.

But Kaizen didn't look afraid.

Didn't look uncertain.

He looked—

Focused.

Because deep down—

He already knew.

It had noticed him.

Long ago.

And now—

It was getting closer.
