“Why don’t you believe in god, Your Grace?”
When I asked, Hades’ gaze moved on to me from being lost in thought with both hands on his forehead.
He stared at me without a word for a while before he spoke, “I don’t know. I’m curious myself.”
“Huh?”
That was an odd answer.
“It’s almost an instinct for the people of the Empire to believe in god. Like how one regards one’s parent as a parent.”
“That’s true.”
“But I.... Well, I don’t really know that myself.”
He looked troubled with his head slightly tilted.
I couldn’t tell what Hades was thinking, but I merely gave a nod.
Maybe if I was a person of the Empire down to my instincts and bones, I would not have understood him at all, but because I had leftover memories of my previous life, I thought I have a rough idea of what Hades was feeling.
‘Believing in god and believing in god’s existence is different.’
