"You sure this is going to work today?" Vi raised a brow and adjusted the gauntlets on her hands.
"Trust me, I borrowed a divine weapon!"
The teeth on the Chainsword in Caleb's hand spun at high speed, and his face was full of smug satisfaction.
"The solution I picked up yesterday, no, borrowed, can suppress his growth."
Caleb showed everyone around him the full bucket of glowing liquid he had brought.
"Let's hope it actually works."
Ekko's body could still take it, but mentally, he was exhausted.
Anyone would be, with their nerves stretched tight the whole time, always ready to turn back time and save teammates who were about to die.
And he had been doing it for hours at a time, splitting his focus over and over. Ekko felt like he had already burned through most of his brain cells.
"This battle plan is very simple."
Caleb spoke with complete confidence.
"The three of you pin down his hands and feet, and I'll do the cutting!"
"Anything I cut off won't regenerate again, and even if it does, spray this solution on the wound."
Caleb poured out some of the solution for each of the three of them so they could use it immediately.
"Time's short, so let's get moving."
With one hand, Caleb grabbed the Chempunk Chainsword and strode out with murderous momentum.
"Morning."
He even cheerfully greeted the hanging Saito Takeda.
Then he slapped him across the face to wake him up.
At night, it was better not to disturb the people of Zaun while they were sleeping. During the day, though, Saito ought to do a little screaming.
Vi hefted her heavy gauntlets, and Ekko swung his metal sword loosely in his hand.
Zac simply stepped forward, and when he passed Saito Takeda, he did not forget to spit on him.
The four of them walked down the middle of the street, and there was no question their heads would turn every eye around.
When they reached the area near the asylum, one of the Firelights scouts nodded to Ekko in greeting.
"He's still inside?"
"Boss, what even is that thing...?"
The scout looked sick to his stomach.
Anyone who had seen that thing eat would probably start questioning reality.
He had a human face, but nobody wanted to connect him with the word human anymore.
"It's fine. We're here to deal with him today." Ekko patted him on the shoulder to reassure him.
"Nobody got hurt, right?"
"No. Good thing everyone had a shield."
The scout shook his head, still looking shaken.
That monster kept yelling at people to take their medicine, but what he threw at them were knives.
If the ones stationed here had not been Firelights, and on high alert, ordinary civilians would never have survived Dr. Mundo's treatment.
Ekko looked over at Caleb, and Caleb nodded.
With a sigh, Ekko stepped onto his hoverboard and shot forward first.
Ekko, with his ability to rewind time, was naturally the best choice for this.
Next after him was Zac, who did not care much about damage from cold steel in the first place.
This time, Caleb had swapped a new gemstone into the Hex Claw and increased its output power.
The previous fight had not been a total waste. At the very least, it had taught Caleb a few things.
For example, when Mundo regenerated, he actually became motionless for a brief period.
But knowing that had not really helped, because Caleb's laser still could not cut through Mundo's neck.
The closer the wound was to his torso, the faster he regenerated, and on top of that, Mundo instinctively protected those areas.
Thankfully, Caleb now had this thing in his hands.
His delight was impossible to hide.
The others beside him did not know how strong the Chempunk Chainsword was, but Caleb definitely did.
Back in the game in his previous life, enemy top laners like Vayne, Jayce, Lucian, Quinn, and plenty of other ranged picks had built this thing to teach him a lesson more times than he could count.
Now it was finally his turn to teach somebody else.
He topped off the Chainsword with the solution from the container on his back, then gave the starter cord a brutal yank.
Not far away, Ekko raised a middle finger, and behind him came the ever-persistent, overly helpful Dr. Mundo in hot pursuit.
"Today Mundo definitely cure you, little man!"
Mundo's mouth was smeared with blood, and who knew what he had eaten this morning.
"Come catch me, you oversized idiot!"
Ekko was incredibly fast. Caleb had only just started the Chainsword, and Mundo was already in sight.
Not a second wasted.
"Skin disease! Need immediate treatment!"
Mundo was still shouting nonsense when Zac charged in first and started wrestling with him.
Anyone would be at a disadvantage wrestling something like Zac.
He could turn himself into a gelatinous sludge pit and drag you straight into a full-on pro wrestling match.
Still, against a powerhouse like Mundo, Zac did not have much room to split off any extra mass.
"All right! Let's go!" Vi shouted too, rushing in at full speed.
The Atlas Gauntlets vented gas and locked down both of Mundo's legs.
"Now!" Ekko drove his metal sword into Mundo's throat, but his face immediately tightened with strain.
The tissue around the wound was growing wildly, trying to force the sword back out.
Caleb sprinted forward and brought the Chainsword down hard on Mundo's arm.
Mundo, who needed to fight back, was pinned in place by the others. After Ekko got thrown away, the Hex Claw pressed right against Mundo's huge mouth and fired a laser.
The ground shook, sparks flew everywhere, and those horrible cries went on without end.
Anyone who knew what was happening would say they were subduing a monster. Anyone who did not would probably think Zaun was about to blow up the canal again.
With a mix of sawing and burning, Caleb finally cut off the right arm.
Then came the second piece, then the third.
The whole process was full of danger, because Mundo kept landing hits on all four of them whenever he got the chance.
Good thing Ekko could rewind time, and his newly built time field could freeze Mundo for a moment now and then.
"Hah... finally..."
After a grueling two hours, Caleb wiped the sweat from his forehead.
Hands, forearms, upper arms, feet, calves, thighs.
The hardest part had been the mouth. Mundo had nearly bitten the Chainsword in Caleb's hands to pieces.
But Caleb still managed to split Mundo's head in half through the mouth.
With help from the Hex Claw's laser.
"All right, bag it up and take it away." Caleb shook the bucket on his back. The once-full container was almost empty now.
They still needed to smear some of it over the wounds.
Even though Mundo had stopped moving for the moment, and had gone from one body to a pile of pieces, it was not like he was truly dead.
Every part of him was still pulsing with life, and the torso had even started growing new strands of flesh.
"This really was miserable work."
Ekko finally let out a long breath, took out a signal flare, lit it, and raised it high.
Purple smoke curled up into the air. It was the all-clear signal.
The Firelights would spread the word that Mundo had been taken down.
Looking at it that way, there was Finn, who had been killed before Caleb ever became Governor, then Renni, who had lost her mind trying to avenge her son.
Yazde, who had been "cured" by Mundo, and Saito Takeda, who was hanging up there now.
Of the five Chem-Barons under Silco, other than Alina, the rest were now either dead or injured. Most of them had already been dealt with.
Caleb pressed down on his blown-out hair and let out a sigh.
Before cutting the wires off Mundo's body, he had gotten hit hard by the pacemaker's shock.
The voltage was not exactly low, but it was not that high either. Since Ekko saw that Caleb could still endure it, he had not rewound time.
Caleb had coughed out a puff of black smoke and rested for ten seconds before going back to slicing off another chunk of flesh.
So how exactly was he supposed to dispose of this stuff?
Caleb was definitely not going to just dump the whole mess on Singed.
In other words, even if Singed wanted to handle it, he was going to do it right in front of Caleb's eyes.
