Chapter 130 - Chapter 130: Nightmare

"When do you plan to leave?"

When Kai'Sa and Yuumi heard that there was no movement in the room, they poked two heads inside.

"Can you two learn something good for once?"

Caleb was caught between laughter and helplessness. After spending so much time with Yuumi, Kai'Sa no longer felt as heavy as she had when he first met her.

"You're leaving?"

Jinx hung upside down and poked her head out, her long braids almost dragging across the floor.

"I can't stay in one place forever."

Caleb shook his head gently.

"That one is Kai'Sa, and the cat is Yuumi."

Since both sides were here, Caleb took the chance to introduce them.

"This is Jinx, Zaun's little maniac."

"Or do you prefer being called Powder?"

"Jinx is fine!"

Jinx looked very unhappy, but she merely curled her lip.

"Hi…"

Kai'Sa's smile was a little strained, but it counted as a greeting.

Jinx snorted and shrank back into her special seat.

"Want to go out for a walk?"

Caleb smiled faintly.

"It's already very late. You should rest early."

Kai'Sa shook her head slightly. After talking with Swain and Yaanogel one after another, Caleb looked somewhat worn out.

Facing powerful people directly required one to forcefully raise their energy and spirit, maintaining a full and steady presence. Otherwise, the pressure of the strong would make those around them unconsciously lose the ability to control themselves freely.

In truth, Caleb already had the beginnings of a powerful person. But he was neither like Swain, who had crawled out of a mountain of corpses, nor like Yaanogel, who had once been a Darkin and had set wars in motion.

To put it simply, he had not yet developed the habit of pressuring everyone around him.

Once he did, the sword in his hand and the spear at his back would both give people the feeling that he could suddenly lash out and hurt them at any moment.

"Go on, go on. Get out and play."

After shooing Jinx out of the office, Caleb went to the room next door.

The soft bed felt excellent, and the air no longer carried that rotting stench. Compared with when he first entered Stillwater Hold, this was already better by who knew how much.

Caleb closed his eyes in satisfaction.

He had always been dreamless, but this time, he passed the night in a daze, struggling through a dream.

"Ten kings… ten thrones…"

A voice came from a distant boundary, young and childish, as if it were singing some kind of hymn.

"Nine crowns, placed upon their heads."

Caleb realized this was a dream. Strangely enough, however, no matter what he did, he could not wake up.

"One alone remains! Digging earth for a grave!"

The voice suddenly became hoarse and sharp, like a rusty knife scraping across something, producing a series of piercing sounds.

"One raven alone remains! Neither dead nor alive!"

Caleb sat up in bed, drenched in cold sweat. The entire bed had already been reduced to a shredded wreck.

"Damn… what's going on?"

Since Caleb had obtained his power, this was the first time he had felt this panicked.

The night was deep, like ink spreading outward, covering the entire world.

In the past, he had thought that he could rely, more or less, on clinging to powerful allies to avoid sudden unnatural death. Now it seemed he had still been too young.

"I smashed this place up this badly, and I still couldn't wake up?"

Caleb understood chemtech, so naturally he also understood his own body. The body's rampage was naturally caused by mental stimulation, instinctively venting toward everything around him.

And yet this room had nearly been torn down by Caleb, while Yaanogel, placed beside the bed, had not moved in the slightest.

That meant that, at the very least, it was not some external object interfering with Caleb. It was Caleb himself constantly struggling.

"Crap!"

Caleb almost instinctively thought of Kai'Sa and Yuumi.

He had already torn this place apart, and yet Kai'Sa and Yuumi had not been woken up by the disturbance either.

In Caleb's ears, the entire building was now deathly silent.

Without the slightest hesitation, Caleb rushed downstairs.

One had to know that he was not the only person living here. There were also many ordinary people.

How large was the attack range? Who exactly had come?

Questions lingered in Caleb's mind and would not disperse for a long time.

Yet in the instant he felt that confusion, the entire building suddenly returned to normal.

And Caleb himself slammed Kai'Sa's door open with a bang.

"Seriously? She chose this exact moment to leave?"

Caleb frowned tightly, but still turned on the light.

Then he saw Kai'Sa looking at him with a pair of wide, fluttering eyes, her expression full of grievance.

"Uh, well…"

Caleb was at something of a loss.

It felt as if he had done something to her.

"Did you have a nightmare?"

Caleb could only ask tentatively.

"Mm!"

Kai'Sa nodded, then revealed the Void skin across her body.

"Enemy attack?"

The grievance and emotion from that fleeting moment disappeared, and the feeling of surviving in the cold Void surged back once more.

"It looked like one, but they're already gone."

Caleb nodded and spoke slowly.

"You're all right?"

Caleb still felt a little uneasy.

"Mm."

Kai'Sa nodded slightly.

"Keep sleeping."

Caleb did not know what was going on. Maybe he could ask the system tomorrow.

He could also ask the system when it was going to arrive.

He still had to tell the councilors that Shurima would temporarily not focus its development northward.

After all, the north was close to the sea and did not have any particularly towering hills. The wealthy places did not need to be the first to pledge themselves to Shurima. Right now, the people who needed the Sun Disc more were instead those in the central regions who could barely fill their stomachs.

There was no reason to spend every day guarding against thieves forever.

After Caleb left, two trails of clear tears ran down Kai'Sa's beautiful cheeks.

In the instant she had shifted into combat mode, she had calmed herself down and forcefully used reason to suppress the thought of seeking comfort from him.

She had fought alone in the Void for so many years, yet this was the first time she had felt so wronged.

But she was Kai'Sa, not that little girl named Kaisa who had been dragged into the Void.

Her village had already been destroyed, and the prophet was no longer there.

Kai'Sa was supposed to be a warrior who fought against the Void, yet now she had gained a bit of weakness.

"Is it really right to feel this way?"

The Void skin slowly withdrew back beneath her skin, and Kai'Sa covered her entire body with the blanket, just as she had when she was little.

As if doing this would keep the monsters wandering in the darkness outside from coming to attack her again.

In truth, she still wanted to talk to him.

"Didn't come?"

At the break of dawn, Caleb lay on the bed and opened his eyes.

Yaanogel was already on his hand, able to take control of this body at any moment.

His greatly strengthened body could already withstand further abuse from him.

But the other party had not come a second time.

"Was it a random event like the Harrowing?"

Caleb was still somewhat angry, yet the other party had long since vanished.

Maybe it had only been a higher-dimensional being passing by and casually slapping Caleb with a debuff.

"Then I can only make guesses from those strange words."

With no other choice, Caleb walked to the desk with dark circles under his eyes.

"Didn't sleep well? Went exercising last night?"

Jinx was already waiting for him in the office chair.

"Go on, get out of here. What exercise?"

"Why, of course it was…"

Before Jinx could finish, Caleb had already picked up his breakfast and stuffed it firmly into her mouth.

Zaunites were great in every way, except sometimes the shocking things they said were truly hard to handle.

Seeing that Jinx still wanted to say something, Caleb stuffed another portion of breakfast in.

Mm. If she still wanted to talk, Caleb would pour porridge in next.
