"Vi."
That call was both familiar and strange.
The Ruined crown above Vi's head began to shatter, and the memories from just now surged back into her mind.
"What... did I do?"
Vi's question received no answer, and Viego paid no attention to either of them.
He only took one more deep look at Senna, then rushed into the distance through the Black Mist.
"Senna, are you all right?"
Lucian hurriedly helped Senna up, and the pressure from the surrounding Black Mist suddenly lessened.
Only a few thin strands of Black Mist remained, proving the monsters had not gone far.
Viego had originally planned to turn Vi into one of the Ruined and have her command the monsters here.
But since there seemed to have been an accident, it no longer mattered.
"We have to catch up to Viego. No one knows how much destruction he will bring to the world."
"Huh?"
For a moment, Caleb was almost speechless. What kind of logic did this married couple have?
"The Sentinels of Light headquarters has a huge map of the entire world. We can use it to track Viego."
"Putting aside the fact that you can't beat him at all... even if you chase after him and Viego slips away, are you just going to return to headquarters and chase him again?"
"Yes."
Senna looked at Caleb as if she did not think there was anything wrong with that.
"...Then aside from facing the fiercest attacks from the Black Mist, you'll also have to face the Ruined King attacking you directly."
"Aren't you afraid he'll figure things out and kill you outright?"
Caleb understood Viego's thinking well enough. Objects were dead, but people were alive.
Objects could easily be damaged during battle, especially since apart from his capable subordinates, those monsters did not have much intelligence to speak of.
Senna, however, could protect herself properly inside the Black Mist.
So even when she was surrounded by it, the soul fragment inside her body would not suffer any mishap.
That was also why Viego had not continued wasting time on Senna at this stage.
Caleb knew what Viego was thinking. The best plan now was actually to gather strength and wait for the final battle against him.
"How many weapons does your headquarters have?"
Caleb had no intention of being polite with them.
The weapons most commonly used by the Sentinels of Light were firearms.
And in Caleb's team, both Jinx and Zeri were actually excellent gun users.
"There should still be some... quite a lot, I think."
Senna froze for a moment before answering.
During that exchange, she suddenly had a bad feeling. The Sentinels of Light's arsenal was about to suffer.
Some of Jinx's sweeping bursts of fire were purely for the fun of it.
"Hurry up and take him to Singed. Don't just stand there!"
Seeing that Vi was still lost in a daze, Caleb gave the order to Viktor beside him.
Caleb looked at the wound. Apart from the staggering amount of blood loss, Warwick's heart had not been destroyed.
Back then, even when things had gotten that bad, Singed had still managed to save him. This time, there should not be a problem either.
Caleb picked up a piece of cloth that looked fairly clean and pressed it against Warwick's wound, stopping the blood from pouring out so wildly.
Blitzcrank lifted Warwick into his arms. The two of them had once exterminated Chem-Barons together in the Sump, yet now Warwick had ended up like this.
The scene fell into silence. While the monsters had temporarily retreated, the residents hurried out to pack their valuables.
The abandoned goods in the market were immediately looted in a mad scramble.
"Ekko, take the Firelights back and maintain order. The weak get priority."
Caleb looked at the chaos, then turned his head and gave Ekko an order.
"As for you two, Sentinels of Light."
Caleb emphasized the last two words heavily, but the bewildered Lucian and Senna did not hear the mockery in his tone.
"Tell us what to do."
"I have two people here. You can replace their weapons with weapons of light."
"You won't use one?"
Senna looked even more confused.
"If you have a blade like this there, I'll use it."
Caleb lifted Youmuu's Wraithblade in his hand.
This blade was not merely an artifact from Ionia. After Caleb had mastered a variant of Mortal Steel, the blade gained the wind element.
It also had excellent compatibility with the bluebird bracelet on Caleb's wrist.
On top of that, Ornn's reinforcement had given it the trait of extreme heat.
In other words, if Caleb was lucky, he might even be able to slay a demigod with this weapon.
"Then let's go."
Caleb did not plan to continue guarding the Twin Cities.
The Black Mist incident this time involved far too much. Although Caleb looked down on the Sentinels of Light's plan to run around chasing Viego everywhere, he did not have any better option.
The final battle would definitely revolve around Senna and Gwen.
As for those other objects, Caleb honestly felt they might as well let Viego take them.
They were just little trinkets like clothes containing fragments of Isolde's soul. They were not World Runes.
So what if he took them? The world would not be affected in the slightest.
But this obsession with reviving his dead wife truly was terrifying. It had plunged the entire world into this darkness.
This king was honestly ruthless beyond belief.
But Caleb still felt that the plot shown in the cinematic could not be fully trusted.
For example, right now, Jinx's minigun and rocket launcher had both become incredibly "bright."
The same thing also happened to Zeri's pistol.
"Enchantments?"
Caleb searched left and right, and finally found a long blade roughly the same length as Youmuu's Wraithblade.
"I can bring it to Ornn later and see if he can help strengthen it a bit."
While everyone was satisfied with their weapons, Lucian quietly said to Senna, "Are we really going to trust them?"
"Right now, we have to absorb as much strength as possible."
A faint light flickered in Senna's chest. It was that light that had kept her from being swallowed by Thresh's lantern.
It was also that light that made her feel both hatred and awe toward Viego from the bottom of her heart.
His power was far too terrifying. The Ruined Legion he had summoned after death had almost wiped out the entire world.
By then, perhaps the whole world would become like the Shadow Isles, all of it sinking into a half-living, half-dead state of agony.
Caleb could not help thinking of one of the great realms, the realm of death!
Why had Viego only awakened after a thousand years? Had the Shadow Isles been planning this moment for hundreds, even a thousand years?
Or was there some other hidden truth?
Caleb was not someone who liked digging all the way to the root of things. He preferred thoughts like, "It's free anyway, so I might as well believe a little," and "As long as the program runs, there's no problem."
But the world under the Ruination forced Caleb to carefully consider what exactly had gone wrong here.
Everything revealed something abnormal, and behind that abnormality, there was actually logic.
"Where's our next stop?"
"Demacia!"
The voice that answered did not belong to Lucian or Senna. Caleb saw a pretty blue-haired girl with a giant pair of scissors on her back.
There was also a young man dressed in Shuriman style, with a hook in one hand and a weapon in the other, looking extremely dashing.
"Bilgewater has completely fallen."
"Let me introduce them. This is Gwen, and this is Akshan."
Caleb barely hesitated before introducing them to Zeri and Jinx under their shocked gazes.
"As for Demacia after this... who knows whether things will go smoothly..."
Although he said that, Caleb also knew that things would almost certainly not go the way he wanted.
