Chapter 207 - Chapter 207: Desperate Straits (EC)

"Draven, your opponent is me!"

A clear woman's voice rang out, but by the time everyone looked over, the one who had arrived was already covered in wounds.

Riven held her broken blade, her will to fight still as firm as ever.

"Wait a second…"

Caleb could not pull back for the moment, so he could only shout at the top of his lungs.

However, Pantheon's shield bash still sent Caleb flying back into the Sentinels of Light.

The other side seemed to look down on him. Caleb's originally overbearing method of attack, when used against the Aspect of War, had instead lost the effectiveness it should have had.

"Here. I picked these up. Make do with them."

From the runes on the broken blade, Caleb had guessed that these were most likely fragments of Riven's broken sword.

Later, when he had nothing better to do, he had treated them like a jigsaw puzzle and pieced them together, which confirmed his guess even more.

"The day the broken blade is reforged…"

Riven gently stroked the fragments, and one piece after another returned to its original position, supported by the wind.

"Enough showing off. Hurry up and go deal with that smug bastard."

Caleb kicked Riven forward and sent her off to fight Draven.

At the Sentinels of Light headquarters, Caleb had tried to bless those fragments with light.

He had no idea whether it would work, but he did not want to care anymore.

The urgent priority was still protecting Gwen on the front line and Senna firing from the rear.

If those two were also captured by the Ruined King, then it would signal Isolde's return.

The pressure on Caleb was immense. If he called Piltover's Steel Shadow and Demacia's Fiora here now, they could put together the Four Sisters of Top Lane.

Counting Gwen as the fifth, they would really have the whole lineup.

However, now that Noxus and the Ruined Legion had clashed into one tangled battlefield, even with the help of the Sentinels of Light, the battle line was still being forced back.

The killing power of the Sentinels of Light was still only a drop in the bucket. After the monsters died and turned back into Black Mist, that mist would still corrode the soldiers' hearts.

As the battle line was pushed closer and closer toward the inside of the fortress, Caleb's pressure grew heavier and heavier.

Swain finally could no longer limit himself to command alone. Huge demonic wings spread from his back, countless clouds of dust swirling around him.

Darius had no time to care about his younger brother who had joined the Ruination. Several of Hecarim's charges had nearly taken his life.

Even while wearing heavy armor and with Samira's help, he still had no room to breathe.

"At this rate, they're going to break into the Immortal Bastion!"

Caleb watched as Vladimir and LeBlanc, those two founding elders of the Black Rose, continued to hold on with great difficulty.

Compared with Thresh, who had collected countless souls on the Shadow Isles, and that yordle from the spirit realm, those two actually looked somewhat lacking.

Yet even after Swain entered the battlefield, the situation still did not improve. This was something Caleb had not expected.

They had gathered the strength of Noxus and the Sentinels of Light, and Caleb had even brought a Darkin with him.

Yet under the thick defenses of Karma and Pantheon, no matter what they did, they could not break through the enemy's defense and wound the Ruined King.

Caleb suspected that even if the Ruined King stood still and let the Sentinels of Light focus fire on him, they still would not be able to hurt him in a short time.

"Then our only choice is to retreat!"

Seeing that the battle had not improved, Caleb turned his head and spoke to everyone.

Senna's expression changed. She also knew what retreat meant.

In a full-scale battle like this, the Sentinels of Light still could not gain the advantage. Even if the Sentinels of Light fought on their home ground instead, would Viego, arriving with his army after hearing the news, really be defeated as they wished?

Caleb did not think too much about it. If they kept dragging this out, there probably would not be a savior.

Better to take a risk and lure Viego over.

If the enemy grew careless and faced a siege on their own ground, they might instead have a chance to seal him away or kill him.

"Move!"

The front line was already close to collapse, and Viego was about to obtain Isolde's keepsake.

If they kept fighting like this, the fall and extinction of Noxus would only be a matter of time.

"Retreat!"

Irelia, who had been using Blade Waltz to deal with Karma, was also dragged back by Caleb, along with Gwen, who was swinging her giant scissors.

Honestly, if Hallowed Mist had not covered the two of them, they probably would have died countless times already under the Enlightened One's spells.

With a flash of light, everyone returned to that grand Demacian Sentinel outpost.

However, the Black Mist quickly locked onto them. A portal opened, and on the other side of the gate was the Ruined King himself.

Viego's eyes were fixed tightly on Senna and Gwen. As long as he extracted the soul fragments from their bodies, he would be able to bring Isolde back into the world.

"Let me pass!"

Within the Black Mist, the entire world was Viego's home ground.

Yet even though the Sentinels had prepared in advance, even Caleb, who had been charging up his attack for a long time, felt a surge of tension at this moment.

"Give me…"

The muscles swelling across his body burst apart at once, those blood-red tissues splitting open.

This time, Caleb was truly launching a life-risking attack.

Together with the other bullets fired at him, Viego, suppressed for a moment, was actually unable to avoid this strike.

"It hit!"

A look of joy could not help but rise onto Caleb's face. This strike was already certain to land.

However, when he saw himself pierce through the other man's chest, only for the other man to give him a mocking smile, Caleb's heart went half-cold.

Right. In his previous life, Viego had died after being stabbed through the chest. Who said that a weapon that was not made of light could inflict effective damage?

A long spear planted itself in front of Caleb, and immediately after, a figure descended from the sky.

Infernal Chains!

Pantheon picked up the spear from the ground and faced everyone with spear and shield.

Countless monsters followed, along with dense Black Mist.

As the Black Mist surged wildly into Viego's body, Shadow also carried Vex onto the battlefield.

Caleb felt his blood run cold. Almost everyone present probably would not be enough to fight these three.

And then the towering figure who came from the other side of the portal made Viego's victory completely certain.

The enemy had brought almost the main force of the Ruined Legion and instantly slaughtered their way here.

In an instant, Gwen's abdomen was pierced through by the Blade of the Ruined King, and Senna's neck was seized in a brutal grip.

Those who wanted to swarm forward were pinned down by a storm of gunfire, unable to raise their heads.

When the bullets struck Caleb, all he could feel was endless resentment, and the sensation of being devoured.

"Guard this place."

The Ruined King held one person in each hand, then prepared to open another portal and resurrect his queen.

However, a hook suddenly whistled through the air at that moment.

The shadow on Vex's body instantly erupted with overwhelming darkness, knocking the hook away.

"Jailer, your betrayal does not surprise me. What surprises me is that you actually thought you could win."

Viego's face still carried that same mocking smile. He did not seem surprised by Thresh turning against him.

"She will return to this world."

After Caleb heard those words, he also lowered the spear in his hand and followed Viego toward the other side of the portal.

"What! You too…"

Disbelief slowly spread across Lucian's face. However, Caleb did not turn back. Instead, he continued walking to the other side.

Now that Pantheon was guarding the gate, even with Thresh's help, the Sentinels of Light would find it difficult to break through the battle line.
