"Do you think we'll still be able to get back to Piltover this time?"
"Spit that out. Don't talk nonsense. The Black Mist has already scattered. We should be holding on to hope now more than ever."
"Yeah. We're so close to Zaun. Maybe that Governor will even come over himself."
"Did yesterday's wild fruit not fill you up, or was it poisonous enough to make you hallucinate?"
The leader of the mining team let out an annoyed scoff. They did have some stored food, but ever since they had been chased by the Ixtali, their supplies had been consumed at an alarming rate. The wild fruit and some of the protein they could find here would last two more days at most. If they were still trapped here after two days, then whether they endured it by force or fought their way out, it would mean this entire team would fall apart. By then, those who could return to Piltover probably would never be able to peacefully enjoy those quiet days again.
"This is the place."
An Ixtali voice came from ahead, making the miners tighten their grip on the tools in their hands. Had the time come for a final fight to the death? But what entered their sight was not only the queen holding that ring, but also a man with an extremely gentle face.
"Governor?"
Someone in the team recognized Caleb and could not help crying out in surprise.
After several major incidents in the Twin Cities, Caleb could already be called a household name. It could even be said that anywhere Piltover and Zaun could do business, someone would basically know of Caleb. Not to mention this was a team from Zaun and Piltover. Even craftsmen who focused entirely on their own trades would still know Caleb. This man had raised Zaun's combat strength by a huge margin through his own power alone. With him holding the line, Zaun had even been able to rush the entire city to the upper city's aid through the Black Mist's blockade. After that, Caleb's reputation only grew louder and louder.
"Relax. You won't die."
Caleb waved his hand, signaling for everyone to put down their weapons. Calling them weapons was generous. They were actually just mining tools. In front of elemental magic, things like that were truly not enough to look at. But relying on their resolve to drag the enemy down with them, the miners' willingness to trade lives had managed to intimidate the Ixtali.
"Please come this way."
The sedan chair Qiyana rode in was extremely lavish. After all, Ixtal was rich in resources, and under this self-sufficient situation, more than a thousand years had already passed. Caleb, on the other hand, led the group of miners behind the Ixtali, looking dusty and disheveled.
"These Twin Cities you mentioned... are they really that wealthy?"
Listening to the descriptions from the people behind her, Qiyana could not help feeling somewhat tempted. After all, she had been born with everything this land could produce. After more than twenty years, she had long since grown tired of it. So-called delicacies, all kinds of cooking styles, she had been used to eating them since childhood. Leaving this territory meant adventure, and it also meant novelty.
"Can I go there and take a look?"
Seeing Caleb chatting and laughing with the workers, Qiyana turned back from her sedan chair.
"Of course. But I'll say this in advance. Only Piltover is wealthy. Zaun isn't as rich as they are."
Under everyone's gaze, Caleb handled it calmly enough. Still, it truly was worth sighing over. Ixtal was not only vast, but genuinely rich in resources too. If Zaunites came here, they would probably stuff everything they saw into their backpacks.
"Of course. But I'll go with two guards."
"Welcome."
If they could open this trade route with Ixtal, not only would large quantities of high-quality resources be able to pass through the Twin Cities and head to every corner of the world, much of that trade would also pass through Zaun, which bordered Ixtal. And business heading south to Shurima would gain an even better transfer point. Once the roads were built, Shurima would probably be thriving under Azir's leadership by then as well. With Ixtal's help, there would also be enormous potential in resisting Icathia's Void. It could be called a guaranteed profit from a single investment.
After saying goodbye to Qiyana, Caleb led the mining team back to Zaun from the border. The Firelights, who had received the news and come to welcome them, took the still-shaken people away smoothly.
After being strengthened to level forty, Caleb's speed was no slower than Ekko stepping on a hoverboard. His control over his body had also gone a step further. With that improvement, his skill with Fate Sealed and Mortal Steel had become even more practiced. Perhaps even without dual blades, he could use these two sword techniques now.
Caleb placed Youmuu's Wraithblade in his hand. Sure enough, without taking out both swords, Caleb could still use this move. However, what excited him most were these new skills.
Hijack could copy other people's skills.
Nether Grasp could be called Malzahar's core skill and had an extremely long control duration.
Going Rogue, Akshan's skill, could bring people back. It could truly be called a divine skill.
And the last one was Falling Star / The Skies Descend. This was the only skill Caleb did not dare test at all. Because this came from a T0-level champion in the entire League of Legends universe, Aurelion Sol! And it was even his ultimate!
If he dropped that once, Caleb feared he would flatten all of Piltover himself. When he went to the celestial realm, maybe he could try it. But that was a matter for later.
Caleb no longer needed to handle the rest personally. The Firelights would naturally guide them to where they needed to go. Since they did not need to research computer manufacturing from scratch anymore, Caleb believed that with Singed joining the team, research on the Mecha Kha'Zix would not be too slow.
Supposedly, there were many dragons within Ixtal's territory. He wondered whether he would have a chance to meet one. It would be even better if he could raise one.
Caleb returned to his office. By the time this matter was finished, it was already late at night. Caleb entered the bedroom, looked at Kai'Sa, whose only difference from when he had gone out was the position she was lying in, and silently backed out of the bedroom.
On second thought, he and Kai'Sa were already that familiar with each other. Maybe if he lay down, she would not mind either. Caleb took the chance and lay down in one motion, then sank into deep sleep. Even if his physical constitution could endure it, that sense of exhaustion still needed sleep to resolve.
It was another good rest.
When Caleb woke up, what came straight toward his face was a paw pad.
"What's going on?"
Almost by instinct, Caleb dodged the cat claw's attack.
"Someone from up above came to call you. Seems like they're from a neighboring country."
After heartlessly slapping Caleb awake, Yuumi bounced off to the side. Ever since passing through the Black Mist, this little thing had stopped going anywhere novel. To Yuumi, while the Twin Cities were interesting, she had already seen enough of them. She clearly wanted to go wander somewhere else. For example, that mountain peak that could be called unreachable.
"Once I'm done with the things here, there are other places I'll need to bring you along to."
One sentence from Caleb instantly lifted Yuumi's spirits, and she hurriedly followed Caleb ahead.
"The person we're meeting this time seems very interesting too."
Yuumi glanced over from a distance. That person did not seem to come from most of the places she had visited either.
