Chapter 216 - Chapter 216: Celestial

After the blinding glare faded, Caleb narrowed his eyes hard, trying to find Kai'Sa's figure through his tears.

"What are you looking at?"

It was as if an angel had descended from holy light, asking Caleb softly.

"Am I blind?"

Only then did Caleb remember that mortals like Yuumi and Qiyana had probably stopped looking after a few seconds. Those Ascended had long since transcended mortal limits.

Put that way, he was probably the only idiot who had kept staring at that light the whole time.

"Man, I really am dumb. How did I just keep staring at that?"

Caleb sighed slowly. Yet the organic tissues on Kai'Sa's body had already turned gold.

Veiled by the yellow sands, Kai'Sa's once-terrifying Void skin now looked sacred.

"Why don't I see any physical enhancement?"

Caleb looked at Kai'Sa, who had gone up and returned, his eyes brimming with tears.

There was no other reason. His eyes were simply about to go blind.

Even in Caleb's current state, staring at sunlight for that long was more than his eyes could take.

"Isn't this quite a lot of enhancement?"

The two organic structures on Kai'Sa's back had now turned into wings.

However, they were different from bird wings. Those two wings were much smaller.

They were not like Aatrox's membrane-like wings either. Kai'Sa's wings were far more compact.

They were a little like Kai'Sa's wings from the K/DA skin in the game from his previous life.

Without that discordant Void skin, Kai'Sa's complexion looked even more captivating.

"That's good. Now you can climb with us too."

The thing Caleb had been most unable to let go of when climbing Mount Targon was Kai'Sa, whether she would stay at the foot of the mountain or follow him up.

But since she had become Ascended, Kai'Sa's strength had made a qualitative leap.

As Icathia's only Ascended after such a long time, Icathia, which now had only a few small villages left, should be able to take pride in her.

There were simply too many regrets. Even now, with Kai'Sa's protection, the Void in Icathia was still constantly surging up from underground.

Not to mention the place in the Freljord where the Balestrider was.

What was sealed there was not something as simple as Void creatures or Rek'Sai. The Void Watchers were there.

And now, the True Ice would only melt faster and faster.

Even Lissandra had to be exhausted after soothing the Watchers again and again.

So even without the system's help, Caleb still had to keep living in this world.

Of course Caleb wanted more skills too. With more things at his side, he would be able to feel more at ease.

But the system had gone completely silent. All that remained were the items in his inventory.

Aside from that, there was no response whatsoever.

It was completely different from the system that had stretched itself out to play Naruto for him when he first arrived.

But since it had happened, Caleb did not have that much time to sit around brooding over it. There were still a whole pile of things waiting for him to deal with.

Of course, the system going offline was also an important matter, because this basically meant one thing, the final dungeon was about to begin.

Caleb was panicking inside, but this was also something he could not avoid.

The final disaster could basically be called world-ending. Even Mount Targon and Shurima would be easily destroyed in the face of the Void invasion if they did not unite as one.

"What animal does she correspond to?"

Basically every Ascended had an animal symbol that corresponded to them.

For example, Yaanogel was a hidden tiger, while Aatrox was a kind of weasel.

"A jeweled hummingbird. A very small desert bird."

Azir really answered everything he knew. It seemed that compared with a pigeon, Azir did indeed resemble an eagle more.

"Atreus, Aphelios, get ready to move out."

Caleb saw that the atmosphere between Aatrox and Atreus looked like they were about to start fighting, so he quickly stopped them.

After all, Shurima's Sun Disc was only a transit point, not the true destination.

The mountain occupied by the Aspects, Mount Targon, was the important place Caleb planned to visit this time.

Actually, maybe going to Ionia first to see if he could call over Rhaast and Varus would have been the better plan.

But Atreus and Aphelios were not easy to meet. If he had to search for the two of them again later, it would waste a great deal of time.

So Caleb simply seized this chance and brought them both along to the "gate" at the highest point of Mount Targon, the one leading to the celestial realm.

"Brother Trox, you can fly back by yourself."

Seeing Aatrox spread his demon-like wings again, Caleb could not help but interact with him in a friendly manner.

Aatrox, carrying his greatsword, simply spread his huge wings in silence, stomped hard on the ground, and glided off toward Mount Targon.

"He's basically turned over a new leaf now."

Caleb roughly explained Aatrox's deeds to Atreus, which also made the man who possessed the Aspect of War feel a trace of fear.

The situation of conflict on Mount Targon was already extremely chaotic.

The Ascended, who had stood apart from the Aspects for so many years and existed independently from Mount Targon, had actually suffered devastating losses in that war against the Void?

Then why had Mount Targon made no statement and left no record of it?

In other words, throughout that long, drawn-out war, Mount Targon had not even had a single Aspect descend to understand the matter?

This would be a blow to the people who had believed in the Aspects for so long, but why were the people still so devout now?

Something was wrong. Very wrong.

Atreus's expression had changed considerably. The helmet that had been tucked under his arm was now placed on his head.

That meant he had entered combat mode.

He had originally planned to face Mount Targon as a mortal, only to receive a brutal truth in return.

Fine, no more pretending. I am the Aspect of War. Cards on the table.

"Yuumi."

Caleb beckoned, and Yuumi immediately understood. She opened the Book of Thresholds at once.

He had to admit, bringing Yuumi out of Bandle City had been an extremely correct move. At the very least, it was like having a portable Hexgate.

He did not even need to specifically learn teleportation magic.

After a burst of light, Caleb raised his head and looked at the sky full of stars, feeling a little emotional.

The mountain's towering shape made no sense whatsoever. If Newton were here, never mind being so angry he came back to life, he would probably grab an apple and try throwing it into the sky.

"Are we here?"

Caleb narrowed his eyes and looked toward the highest peak.

It was the steepest cliffside, and the foot of the mountain was filled with the weapons of climbers and those who had failed the challenge.

"Aphelios wants to look for his people and confirm whether they're safe."

Atreus understood Aphelios's sign language and explained on his behalf.

After all, it had already been several days since the Black Mist ended. Although the Lunari often hid halfway up the mountain, the Solari were still so overbearing and tyrannical now, so caution was best.

"No rush. We'll go with you."

Caleb looked at Kai'Sa, and she nodded as well. Since they had already reached the foot of the mountain, there was no need to hurry to the summit.

"They're not far above."

Aphelios looked at the cave, which was somewhat more damaged than when he had left, and worry appeared between his brows.
