"What kind of idiot believes in a duel whose ending has already been decided? What meaning is there in such an absurdly stupid act?"
Kindred's masked face shook faintly, while Wolf beside them let out a burst of strange laughter.
The revelers, of course, did not notice that the true figures worshiped by the festival had already arrived at the scene.
Maybe that did not matter.
People only needed a reason, an excuse for a year of recklessness to come.
The fight had already begun. Amid the crowd's shouting, Wolf kept closing in on the frail Lamb.
"I want them to witness the gentle strength that belongs to Lamb."
A thunderbolt split the sky and blasted Wolf straight into the ground.
The celebrating crowd fell silent for a moment, then immediately erupted into curses.
"Get up already!"
Even the host had never seen something like this before, so all he could do was keep encouraging Wolf, who was still lying on the ground.
The man playing Lamb let out a breath of relief. The moment he opened his eyes, a massive wolf head opened its bloody maw and lunged toward him.
The weak man staggered back in panic, but in the end, his foot landed on empty air. With a shrill scream, he fell off the cliff.
"Although Wolf has fallen, his heart has not stopped beating!"
The host's eyes lit up. He had finally found something to cling to.
"His will pushed Lamb off the cliff. He is telling us that his will has not perished."
Amid the crowd's cheers, the real Lamb gently shook their head and looked at Wolf as he happily ran back.
"I declare Wolf the winner!"
For Bilgewater, it seemed this would be another bountiful year.
What is my hunt, that mortals dare presume?
They treat it as a game, a shame too deep to bear.
The island turns to scorched earth, all living souls shall see.
On Kindred's Revel Night, this night shall be the grandest spectacle.
As the people celebrated, a wave of Black Mist suddenly swallowed Bilgewater.
A figure beneath iron armor appeared. With one swing of his hammer, flesh from the sect that worshiped Nagakabouros could still be seen beneath the blow.
Undead soldiers also appeared around him one after another, holding weapons of the death realm as they launched their attack on the crowd.
Without thinking, Lamb turned and fired an arrow.
"Who are you?"
Kindred used Ochnun. Only the enemy's leader could understand it.
But the other side did not answer. Wolf had already rushed forward, ready to tear into him.
Yet the armored figure did not fight the wolf and the lamb.
Instead, he directly passed through his Realm of Death and returned to the Shadow Isles.
Mordekaiser, however, had not left Kindred any chance to catch up.
Those death-realm warriors were already swinging their blades and beginning their slaughter, and the souls of the people they killed rose from the corpses.
Kindred's hunt began without warning on this night of revelry.
...
"Did everyone remember the plan?"
Caleb looked at the people before him. There was Jayce, pilot of Mecha Malphite, an army of robots armed with petricite weapons, and their leader, Viktor.
Of course, Kai'Sa, Yuumi, and Ryze had also come back to this place.
Even Jinx and Zeri had brought their weapons of light with them.
Although this meant using almost all their top-level combat power, there was no helping it.
The twin cities were still a small place in the end. Once they lost commerce, the resources they could make use of fell off a cliff.
Of course, Demacia and Noxus could not be allowed to benefit from that.
Under everyone's overwhelming assault, it did not take long for the spider god, that broken and vile maw, to die beneath Caleb's blade.
During that time, the others had not been idle either. They quickly opened a road for Caleb straight toward the center.
"You defeated weakling, and you still dare run wild before me!"
The shrill voice rang out once again, but Caleb did not immediately focus fire on him.
Instead, Caleb used his abilities to calmly dodge Veigar's nearly overwhelming barrage of spells.
"You all better hold on!"
That line was not for Kai'Sa. It was for everyone around them who was fighting the lesser enemies.
Mecha Kha'Zix was devouring one warrior after another. Every time he finished enjoying the essence of his prey, his body grew even stronger.
As for Caleb, by using Phase Rush and Predator together with Shadow Step and Arcane Shift, he had managed to stay alive alone in this massive space until now.
"Feel the call of death!"
Green pillars of light appeared over everyone, but Caleb immediately scattered the spellcasting process with a fierce gust of wind.
"Now!"
Caleb could not help shouting.
The blue-skinned bald man, understanding him instantly, slipped out from the crowd and moved beside Karthus, who was still in midair.
A blue glow of spell power lit up, and a blue ribbon of light appeared around Ryze.
Manaflow Band!
A mark appeared under Ryze's feet. Karthus had no idea what the other man was trying to do, but he had to stop him with everything he had.
"It's been this long already... You should finally put in some effort too!"
Caleb secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but when he saw the figure holding the spiked mace, his heart tightened.
The scenery before Karthus suddenly changed, and in an instant, he arrived atop a massive city wall.
What made him feel even stranger was that once he stood on that wall, he could no longer draw out his strength.
"Is this thing absorbing my mana?"
Karthus lowered his head and looked down, but what came next was a stone stag statue ramming into him with its antlers.
Back on the main battlefield of the Shadow Isles, Mordekaiser walked over, only to find that Karthus had disappeared.
"Was he beaten back into a scattered spirit again?"
Mordekaiser did not care much. In the Black Mist, Karthus would eventually revive in the fountain of the Shadow Isles.
Yet when that blue bald man appeared in front of him, he felt a trace of displeasure.
Spells crashed down on his armor like a storm. He had only just walked away from Kindred, and now, he had no intention of avoiding this fight.
The spiked mace Nightfall fell with a shriek, and another arm reached out, yanking Ryze toward him.
Yet with a spell orb blocking it, that Death's Grasp failed to produce the effect it should have.
As he was swallowed by blue light, Mordekaiser thought he might be sent in front of Kindred, or even returned to the death realm with the gate sealed shut.
Or perhaps his iron armor would be moved away?
But the buildings that entered his sight were in chaos, and Mordekaiser could not help laughing aloud.
Black Mist seeped from the gaps in his armor and drowned the Immortal Bastion.
Looking at the man who seemed to be the Grand General, Mordekaiser's eyes were full of mockery.
"Raum, the one I left in the Immortal Bastion. It seems you have been using him well..."
...
A yordle's mana seemed endless, but it still had a limit.
After a Void Seeker struck him, Kai'Sa's high-speed movement was blocked by Event Horizon.
Caleb's Hail of Blades and Electrocute triggered almost at the same time. A small, weeping soul drifted out of Veigar's body and entered Caleb's.
Caleb landed. The wide robe and hat had already vanished, leaving only a staff lying where they had been.
Caleb silently lowered his head. Veigar's true body had already disappeared. He had done it to keep Veigar from ever again using the power that could shatter Arcane Comet.
But before that sadness could settle, a black spell orb locked onto him and came flying at terrifying speed.
