SCENE 1
INT. RANVIR'S ROOM – NIGHT
The air in RANVIR's small room hums with a faint, unseen energy. Moonlight, a silver ribbon, slices through the narrow window, illuminating motes of dust dancing in the stillness. Ranvir sits on the edge of his bed, his back rigid, his eyes fixed on the shimmering, azure interface hovering before him. The blue light casts an ethereal glow on his face, highlighting the tension around his mouth.
The words on the interface shimmer, crisp and clear.
AZURE GAMING SYSTEM
Merging complete. Innate Ability [Divine Realm] successfully integrated.
Welcome, Host.
System Name: [Azure Gaming System]
Host: Ranvir Shaha
Innate Ability: [Divine Realm – Tier 0]
Status: Active
Ranvir stares at the final line, his brow furrowed. The words 'Divine Realm – Tier 0' spin in his mind, a riddle etched in light. A cold knot of apprehension tightens in his stomach. The elders had called it trash. Useless. A black hole.
RANVIR
(A whisper, barely audible)
Divine Realm – Tier 0. What does that even mean?
A voice, sharp as splintered ice, slices through the quiet. It vibrates not in the air, but directly within Ranvir's skull, a sudden, jarring intrusion.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Are you an idiot, Host?
Ranvir jolts, his head snapping up. His eyes dart around the small room, searching. The shadows cling to the corners, unmoving. The only other presence is the glowing interface.
RANVIR
Who's there?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
It's me. System. Idio–
The voice cuts itself off, a faint hum of static following.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
…Idiotic Host.
Ranvir's mouth drops open. He points a trembling finger at the azure screen.
RANVIR
Wait. You can talk?
The System's voice crackles with what sounds like indignation, a faint, almost metallic hiss accompanying its words.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
What now? You have a problem with me communicating? Does my voice offend your delicate sensibilities, Host?
Ranvir shakes his head, a frantic gesture. He pushes the shock down, forcing himself to focus. This… this changes everything.
RANVIR
No! No problem. Just… unexpected. Can you please explain? What is Divine Realm – Tier 0?
The System makes a sound like a soft, exasperated sigh, a mechanical whirring deep within Ranvir's mind.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Fine. Host, understand this: your world operates on three primary cultivation paths. Scholar, Warrior, Cultivator. Each path contains ten distinct realms of power.
Ranvir's brow furrows again. The elder at the alter, the books he'd devoured – they all spoke of something different.
RANVIR
Ten realms? But… I've always heard there are only nine. Everyone says nine.
A wave of irritation, sharp and palpable, emanates from the System. The azure interface flickers, its edges sharpening.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Can you let me finish, Host? People *usually* think there are only nine because reaching the Tenth Realm is like a mortal reaching heaven in a single jump. A feat so rare, so legendary, it borders on myth. Most simply refer to it as 'Ascension.' But that detail means nothing to you.
The System pauses, a beat of silence stretching. Ranvir waits, a prickle of unease crawling up his spine.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Your ability, Divine Realm, does not allow you to follow any of these three paths.
Ranvir's breath catches. The words of the sneering elder, the cruel laughter, flash through his mind. *Trash. Useless. No future.* His face pales.
RANVIR
Does that… does that mean my ability is trash?
The System's voice, for the first time, loses its edge of irritation. It sounds almost… amused.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
That, Host, is where you are profoundly wrong. You cannot follow the existing three paths, true. But you can, instead, forge a path entirely new. A path for yourself.
Ranvir blinks. A new path? The concept is staggering, almost inconceivable. His mind, accustomed to the rigid structure of this world's cultivation, struggles to grasp it.
RANVIR
A new path?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Yes. A new path. Your Divine Realm ability allows you to transform the ambient Chi, the spiritual energy you absorb from heaven and earth, into Divine Energy.
Ranvir stares, a flicker of something new – not hope, not yet, but a desperate curiosity – blooming in his chest.
RANVIR
Divine Energy? What does that do?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Divine Energy. A potent force. You could use it to heal others, control elements, influence minds, even distort reality within certain limits. Its potential is vast. But you must not waste it on such trivialities.
The System's words hold a stern command. Ranvir's excitement deflates slightly.
RANVIR
Not waste it? Then… what should I do with it?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
You must use it to create your Divine Core.
Ranvir frowns. Divine Core. He'd never heard of such a thing.
RANVIR
Divine Core? How do I make it? And… why?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
To forge your Divine Core, you first condense Divine Energy into Divine Essence. The ratio is ten units of Divine Energy for one unit of Divine Essence. Then, you use one hundred units of Divine Essence to condense the Divine Core itself.
The numbers spin in Ranvir's head. Ten to one. A hundred to one. It sounds like an astronomical amount of energy.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Once formed, your Divine Core will allow you to create your own Inner World. A personal domain where you are absolute master. Without it, you will never reach Tier 1.
Ranvir leans forward, his heart pounding. Tier 1. He remembers the system display. Divine Realm – Tier 0.
RANVIR
Tier 1? Is that like… the first realm of cultivation?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Similar. But vastly superior. A Tier 1 Divine Realm grants you the combined strength and abilities of a First Realm Cultivator, a First Realm Warrior, and a First Realm Scholar. All three paths, unified within you.
A gasp escapes Ranvir's lips. The combined strength? That would be… incredible. He could protect his mother. He could honor his father. But a new thought, cold and unsettling, follows.
RANVIR
But… the elders said my ability was a black hole for cultivation. If it's so powerful, why would they say that?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Because your cultivation will be agonizingly slow. Even with immense effort and the resources available in this world, reaching Tier 3 in your entire lifetime would be a miracle. The energy required for your advancement dwarfs that of ordinary cultivators. You absorb vast amounts of Chi, yes, but its transformation into Divine Energy, and then Divine Essence, is a process of immense refinement. Most would simply stagnate. They would indeed become a 'black hole' – absorbing, but never progressing.
Ranvir's shoulders slump. The fleeting hope flickers, threatening to die out. So much power, yet so unattainable.
RANVIR
Is there no way, System? No way to speed this up?
The System hums, a low, resonant thrum that fills Ranvir's skull. A new, almost sly, tone enters its voice.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
There is. Your Divine Realm ability allows you to form contracts with other living beings. To make yourself stronger.
Ranvir's head snaps up. Contracts?
RANVIR
How does that work?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
To form a contract, the individual must be weaker than you, and they must agree willingly. Once contracted, their growth, their strength, their abilities – a portion of it transfers to you. A symbiotic link. However, a crucial caveat: if a contracted individual dies, you lose all the boost gained from that contract. And the emotional backlash… it would be significant.
The System's words paint a picture of immense power, but also immense risk. Ranvir considers it. Weaker than him? Willing?
RANVIR
How can I find people willing to make a contract with me? People who are weaker, but can still grow strong enough to matter?
The System's voice takes on a triumphant, almost conspiratorial note. The azure interface pulses with a brighter, more vibrant light.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Do not worry, Host. I am here. I possess the capability to connect this world with another. A world known as Azure Blue Star. It is renowned for its gaming industry.
Ranvir stares, utterly bewildered. Azure Blue Star? Gaming industry? This sounds like something out of one of his old manhwa.
RANVIR
How is that going to help me?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
Simple. I can bring individuals from Azure Blue Star into your world. They will perceive this as a 100% immersive virtual reality game. Before they enter, we will subtly trick them into signing a contract. A User Agreement, they will call it. This agreement will bind them to you.
Ranvir's eyes widen. He remembers the terms of service he used to click through without reading. A shiver, both of excitement and unease, runs down his spine.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
These 'players' will be immortal. They cannot truly die in your world. Upon defeat, they merely 'respawn.' This means you risk no loss from their demise. And we can make them work for free, in exchange for what they perceive as 'quests' and 'rewards.' They won't need to cultivate in the traditional sense; they will grow stronger simply by killing monsters, completing tasks, and leveling up. The more they level, the more powerful you become. Their strength fuels yours.
Ranvir gapes. Immortal laborers? A legion of loyal, powerful allies who won't truly die? This is… brilliant. And terrifying.
RANVIR
What do I need to do, System?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
You, Host, have two primary objectives. First, you must earn enough money to establish a Sect. A base of operations for these players. A place for them to kill monsters, complete quests, and 'cultivate' – by which I mean, level up. Second, you must accumulate at least 10,000 units of Divine Essence.
Ranvir's mind races. Money. A Sect. Divine Essence. The sheer scale of it is daunting.
RANVIR
10,000 Divine Essence? And the money for a Sect? Before I turn eighteen? That's… a lot. Why do you need so much Divine Essence?
The System's voice softens slightly, a hint of something akin to eagerness in its tone.
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
The Divine Essence is crucial. I require it for two main purposes. Firstly, to create physical bodies for the players from Azure Blue Star. Their souls will occupy these forms, allowing them to truly interact with your world. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, I need it to forge Divine Seeds.
RANVIR
Divine Seeds? What are those?
SYSTEM VOICE (O.S.)
These Divine Seeds will grant the players abilities directly linked to their souls. Not like the innate abilities your world's inhabitants awaken at twelve. These are more profound, more unique. And here is the true benefit, Host: any ability a player awakens through a Divine Seed, you too will gain access to.
Ranvir's jaw drops. His mind reels, trying to process the implications. A legion of immortal players, unknowingly bound to him, working for his benefit, and sharing their awakened powers? His previous life's love for fantasy novels pales in comparison to this reality.
RANVIR
Wow, System. Just… wow.
A sudden, sharp rap on his door makes him jump. The azure interface flickers, shrinking, then vanishing entirely from his sight. He blinks, his room returning to its mundane reality.
MOTHER (O.S.)
Ranvir? Are you in there? Come, my son. Dinner is ready. And I have something to show you.
Ranvir stares at the closed door, then back at the empty space where the System interface had been. A faint, almost imperceptible hum still vibrates in his mind. The future, once a bleak and uncertain path, has just exploded into a kaleidoscope of impossible, exhilarating possibilities. He feels a strange, unsettling blend of fear and a burgeoning, fierce determination.
He pushes himself off the bed, a new resolve stiffening his spine.
FADE TO BLACK.
