Chapter 50: The Miserable Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo

Douluo: Dugu Bo's Life Simulator

After Dugu Bo let go of his hand, Chrysanthemum Douluo's face turned pale with fright. He hurriedly demanded,

"What is this? What did you do to me?!"

Beside him, Ghost Douluo's shadowy face flickered as he said coldly,

"If the two of us die here, I guarantee Her Holiness the Pope will come for you. And when she does—you'll die a miserable death."

Hearing the threat again, Dugu Bo felt a surge of irritation.

For a brief moment, he truly considered killing them both.

But he restrained himself.

They were right—if they died, Spirit Hall would inevitably trace it back to him. And he wasn't arrogant enough to believe he could stand against the entire organization yet.

With a wave of his hand, he released another cloud of poison, engulfing Ghost Douluo.

"You should worry about yourself first."

Shrouded in the poison, Ghost Douluo immediately felt his body weaken. His spirit power became sluggish, almost impossible to mobilize.

A flash of panic crossed his mind—

For a moment, he truly felt like death was near.

If Dugu Bo had delayed by even a few seconds, the paralysis from the lightning would have worn off.

And at that point, the one in trouble would have been Dugu Bo instead.

Though it seemed like a long exchange, in reality, only a very short time had passed.

The poison Dugu Bo used wasn't lethal.

It was merely a neurotoxin designed to suppress movement and control the enemy.

With the physique of Titled Douluo, they would recover soon enough.

If he hadn't done this, once the paralysis faded, he would be the one at a disadvantage.

After finishing, Dugu Bo didn't forget to scare them a bit more.

"Just wait for death. I'm leaving."

With that, he clapped his hands lightly, turned around, and walked away with ease.

Before leaving, he even set up a poison array around the area.

There might be spirit beasts nearby—if one came and devoured the two of them while they were immobilized, Dugu Bo would end up taking the blame.

Watching his departing figure, Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo immediately burst into curses.

"Dugu Bo, you ******!"

"You damned old poison freak, your whole family—*****!"

But just as their insults fell—

Dugu Bo suddenly returned, descending from the sky right in front of them.

His expression was terrifyingly dark.

He hated being threatened the most—

And even more so when it involved his family.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

Step by step, he walked toward them.

"What do you want to do?! Dugu Bo, I advise you to stay rational! We are elders of Spirit Hall!"

"Dugu Bo! Dugu Bo… we are elders… elders of Spirit Hall—AH!!"

No matter how they shouted, Dugu Bo paid no attention.

Boom! Bang! Smack!

A burst of spirit power erupted—

Followed by the sounds of fists colliding with flesh.

Their screams echoed throughout the forest.

"Ah—! Oof—! Aaah—!"

After a while—

Dugu Bo walked out of the poison array with a satisfied expression, rose into the air, and left.

Left behind, the two could only stare at each other, wanting to cry but having no tears.

They had only intended to teach Dugu Bo a lesson—

Who would've thought things would escalate this far?

Chrysanthemum Douluo looked utterly miserable.

His once elegant appearance was gone—his face was dirty, bruised, and swollen.

"Old Ghost… do you think we're going to die?"

Ghost Douluo's shadowy form flickered.

"Don't talk nonsense. Once our spirit power recovers, we'll purge the poison immediately. I refuse to believe mere poison can kill a Titled Douluo."

After about two minutes—

A powerful aura suddenly erupted from both of them.

Their sealed spirit power was released.

The first thing they did after recovering was to check their bodies thoroughly.

After a long moment—

They found nothing wrong.

Chrysanthemum Douluo flew into a rage.

"We're fine?! Damn it! That guy actually tricked us!"

Ghost Douluo, however, was much calmer.

Glancing at the poison array left behind, he said,

"That's enough. We brought this upon ourselves. No one else to blame."

Chrysanthemum Douluo snorted coldly.

"If we hadn't been careless, do you really think he could've taken the two of us?"

Ghost Douluo didn't hold back:

"You alone are definitely not his opponent."

"The 100,000-year spirit ring is simply too powerful. The abilities it grants are far beyond those of ten-thousand-year rings."

Chrysanthemum Douluo was left speechless.

After a while, he muttered unwillingly,

"But his spirit power level is still lower than mine…"

Ghost Douluo's shadow rippled.

"Let's go. We'll return. This matter stays between us."

After tidying up the battlefield, the two quickly disappeared.

Not long after returning to Spirit Hall—

They were summoned by Bibi Dong.

Inside the Pope Hall, Bibi Dong sat on her throne, one hand supporting her chin as she rested with her eyes closed.

Chrysanthemum Douluo had changed into a white-gold ceremonial robe.

Ghost Douluo remained in his ever-present black cloak.

"Greetings, Your Holiness!"

The two stepped forward and bowed.

Bibi Dong slowly opened her eyes.

Her violet gaze was cold and emotionless.

Under her stare, both lowered their heads even further.

Then—

A rare smile appeared on her otherwise icy face.

"Elder Yue… what happened to your face?"

Chrysanthemum Douluo immediately put on a pitiful expression.

"Your Holiness, it was that old ghost! He called me 'Chrysanthemum Guan,' and I couldn't take it, so we fought… who knew I couldn't beat him?"

He pointed at the bruises on his face.

"This was all done by him!"

Ghost Douluo cooperated flawlessly.

"Chrysanthemum Guan, you're even bothering Her Holiness with something like this? Do you have no shame?"

"Enough!"

Bibi Dong raised her hand, stopping them.

She rubbed her forehead, clearly exasperated.

"You two are not young anymore. Can you act a little more mature?"

This wasn't the first time they had fought each other.

Bibi Dong felt a headache coming on.

Among her subordinates, these were the only two Titled Douluo she could reliably use—

Yet they always seemed… somewhat unreliable.

Her expression turned serious again.

"Go back and prepare. In three days, we will head to the Star Dou Forest to hunt a spirit beast."

"This matter must remain secret. Only the three of us will go."

There were too few capable people under her command.

If Dugu Bo had accepted her invitation, this trip would have been far more secure.

But as the Pope—and a future inheritor of a god's position—she had her pride.

After being rejected once, she would never lower herself to invite him again.
