Chapter 60: Consuming the Ice and Fire Immortal Herbs

The night sky stretched overhead like a vast black curtain.

Stars shimmered faintly, and the moon hung full like a silver plate.

The entire Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well lay in silence.

Only above it—

Steam continued to rise and churn endlessly.

Dugu Bo quietly appeared at the edge of the Yin-Yang Well.

His gaze fell upon the two immortal herbs growing between the icy spring and the fiery spring:

Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass (八角玄冰草)

Fiery Apricot Delicate Inferno (烈火杏娇疏)

A trace of resolve flashed in his eyes.

Originally—

He planned to wait until Meng Shu broke through, help him obtain a spirit ring—

And only then consume these two herbs to cure the poison within his body.

But fate had other plans.

Earlier that day—

In order to obtain the Sea God's Heart—

He had exposed the existence of the immortal herbs.

More importantly—

He had overlooked Xue Qinghe, who was actually Qian Renxue in disguise.

Although the probability was low—

If the Spirit Hall decided to act immediately—

He might lose his chance to detoxify completely.

So—

To be safe—

Dugu Bo decided to consume the two immortal herbs tonight.

As for whether his spirit power would drop—

That remained uncertain.

In his previous simulation—

There was no mention of his spirit power decreasing.

Which meant—

What that boy Tang San said—

That consuming these two herbs would cause him to lose his cultivation—

Was very likely…

A lie.

Thinking of this—

Dugu Bo stopped hesitating.

He took out a dagger from his storage soul tool—

And walked toward the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass growing in the extreme cold spring.

Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass

A flower of extreme cold—

It chills the heart and freezes the nervous system.

Within ten meters, cold air pierces the bones.

Prolonged exposure leads to fatal cold poison.

Let alone consuming it—

Even standing near it could bring disaster.

To harvest it—

One must use metal.

These details flashed through Dugu Bo's mind.

With a flick of his wrist—

The dagger flashed coldly—

And the eight-petaled white flower fell instantly.

The moment it dropped—

A wave of freezing energy spread outward.

A thin layer of frost formed over the surrounding herbs.

Without stopping—

Dugu Bo used his spirit power to lift the herb—

And in a flash—

He appeared beside the Fiery Apricot Delicate Inferno.

This time—

He used a jade dagger to slice through its root.

Unlike the ice grass—

This herb could not be cut with metal.

Only jade could preserve its full potency.

The two herbs—

One of extreme cold, one of extreme heat—

Now hovered before him.

But the moment they came together—

A strange phenomenon occurred.

The freezing aura of the ice grass—

And the scorching aura of the fire herb—

Disappeared simultaneously.

A faint red glow enveloped the ice grass.

A pale white mist wrapped around the fire herb.

Dugu Bo's eyes hardened.

He knew—

He couldn't hesitate now.

Once their opposing energies balanced—

They would neutralize each other.

But after ten breaths—

Their effects would completely dissipate.

Without delay—

He grabbed both herbs—

And stuffed them into his mouth.

Though both were poisonous—

After being counterbalanced—

They lost their former tyranny.

They melted instantly upon entering his mouth—

Turning into sweet liquid that flowed down his throat.

A refreshing fragrance filled his senses.

Not bad… even for poison.

Dugu Bo inwardly praised.

The next moment—

The medicinal effects erupted.

"Mm—!"

A muffled groan escaped him—

As his body trembled violently.

A layer of icy blue rose from his feet—

Instantly turning his entire body blue.

Then—

A surge of red followed—

Making him look like a freshly boiled shrimp.

Blue—

Red—

Alternating rapidly—

A bizarre and terrifying sight.

Enduring the pain—

Dugu Bo staggered toward the edge of the Yin-Yang Well.

He stared at the red and blue springs before him—

Then gritted his teeth—

And jumped directly into the point where they converged.

Splash!

His entire body disappeared beneath the water.

He hadn't jumped in immediately after consuming the herbs—

Because timing was critical.

Even a moment too early—

And he would have been reduced to nothing.

These two herbs were born from the extreme energies of the Yin-Yang Well.

Only they could counteract the terrifying power of the springs.

Now—

With their effects activated—

He no longer felt anything from the outside world.

But—

Inside his body—

The pain multiplied countless times.

The ice and fire energies—

Though partially balanced—

Exploded violently within him.

And worse—

They triggered the poison within him:

The Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor toxin.

Pain surged like tidal waves through every inch of his body.

Damn it! This isn't how it was described!

Dugu Bo roared inwardly—

Clenching his teeth so hard that blood seeped out.

Wasn't that boy supposed to faint immediately after entering the water?!

But this pain—

Was so intense—

He couldn't even lose consciousness.

The cold poison and fire poison from the herbs—

Acted like explosives—

Igniting the toxin he had accumulated for seventy years.

From every pore—

Dark green poison began seeping out of his body.

The refining effect of the herbs—

Was trying to force the toxin out.

But this enraged the Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor poison.

The leaking poison—

Instinctively gathered together—

Resisting the power of the herbs.

Inside his body—

Three forces began to clash:

Ice poison

Fire poison

Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor poison

A three-way battle—

For dominance.

The serpent poison had the advantage in quantity.

The ice and fire herbs—

Held superiority in quality.

For a time—

They were evenly matched.

Red—

Blue—

Green—

Three colors intertwined across Dugu Bo's body.

His body shook violently like a leaf.

His teeth were clenched to the point of bleeding.

His fingernails dug deep into his palms—

Yet he felt none of it.

After all—

The serpent poison had been in his body for seventy years.

And—

It was supported by the poison core within his dantian.

Gradually—

The ice and fire herbs began to be suppressed.

And just at that moment—

The aura of the two immortal herbs within him—

Resonated with the entire Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well.

________________

T/N: if you don't understand how and why he is being tormented here even though it's already explained in this chapter it meant you need to study again

Here's how I understand it:

His poison aka the poison made from his martial soul doesn't want to leave his body, tang San isn't fully lying about his soul power being decreased it's just that he didn't fully explain the reason why

His poison will fight against the coldness of the octagonal and the apricot immortal herbs whereas the poison due to being culminated for 64 years or so had a much more quantity aka the amount of poison inside his body surpass that of both of the immortal herbs

But luckily due to the immortal herbs having the quality advantage the three forces

Ice

Fire

Poison

Collided and had a three way clash with the poison of his body being supported by the poison core he had was eventually winning

But due to the octagonal and apricots home advantage of being inside the ice and fire ying yang well they both can supress or take the home advantage so they can opress the poison

Basically I put this here because I wanted to rant about how I understand it
