Chapter 35 - Unexpected obsession

I, Chen Yuxi, wasn't usually one for clubs. But tonight, my friend Jia Jia dragged me out, insisting we needed to unwind, let loose, and maybe meet someone interesting—ideally a male model type to distract me from everything at work.

The music was deafening, the lights flashing in vibrant colors, and the air thick with energy. Jia Jia pulled me onto the dance floor, laughing, while I clutched my cocktail, feeling the warmth of alcohol seep through me.

"This is exactly what you needed," Jia Jia shouted over the music. "Look at you—glowing!"

I laughed, letting the buzz take over, forgetting the office, the scheming fiancée Yue Xinyan, and—most of all—the obsessive presence of Lin Guo, CEO of Guotech.

And then… I felt it. That impossible presence. The air seemed to shift. A hand brushed against my waist—familiar, precise, claiming.

I spun, expecting a stranger or Jia Jia, and froze.

Lin Guo.

His dark eyes scanned the club like he owned it, like he owned me. The chaos, the flashing lights, the crowd—it all seemed to shrink around him.

"You," he said, voice low but cutting through the noise. "At a place like this?"

I stumbled slightly, the alcohol making my words slur more than I intended. "I… I'm just—"

"Having fun?" he interrupted, stepping closer, hand brushing mine, possessive. "Or looking for someone else?"

Heat surged to my cheeks. "I… I was just—"

"Chen Yuxi," he said, tone sharp, almost warning, almost teasing. "I don't like sharing."

My chest tightened, but there was an undeniable thrill running through me.

Jia Jia tugged at my arm, wide-eyed. "Wow… he's intense," she whispered.

Lin Guo ignored her. He leaned closer, hand lingering possessively on my lower back, eyes dark and unreadable. "You look… reckless tonight."

I tried to step back, but his presence pinned me effortlessly. "I'm fine," I muttered, voice shaky, heart racing.

He smirked, brushing a strand of hair from my face. "Not when I can see every thought racing through your mind," he murmured.

My breath caught. That tone—possessive, obsessive, intimate—sent a shiver down my spine.

"You're mine, Chen Yuxi. Don't forget it," he whispered, just close enough that my chest tightened and my mind spun.

And just like that, the music, the lights, the crowd—it all became a backdrop to his obsession, his control, and the pull I couldn't resist.
