Fujino felt a calling; this calling came from a distant place, from beyond the world.
A flash of light passed through Fujino's eyes. Her gaze pierced through the world, and her consciousness looked out into the boundless space beyond.
"Found you!"
Fujino's gaze fixed on a small sphere. It was a world, and in that world, Fujino felt a faint calling—a calling originating from the same source as her own.
The root of this calling stemmed from Fujino's Migeiko eyes.
"This is the Katanagatari world?!"
Information about this world flashed quickly through her mind, and Fujino understood what was going on.
"Is it because we both possess Migeiko?" Fujino thought to herself.
The Migeiko eyes originated from the Katanagatari world, and the possessor of these bug-like eyes was Nanami.
However, the Migeiko that Nanami possessed was different from the one Fujino possessed. The most obvious difference between the two was their status; the Migeiko Fujino possessed was an existence that had broken through all limitations, while Nanami's was not, though it could be said to be the strongest Migeiko aside from the one Fujino possessed.
Setting aside their status, the function of the Migeiko possessed by the two was also different. For Fujino, Migeiko was eyes for becoming stronger, while for Nanami, it was for self-preservation.
Nanami was born with a talent that was enough to make the world fearful, but her body could not carry such a powerful talent. Therefore, Nanami had to use Migeiko to learn the martial arts of others rather than using her own talent. It was like a cup of hot water; to cool the hot water, one needed to add cold water to lower the temperature. This was Nanami's situation: learning the martial arts of others to extend her own life.
Even so, the world, out of fear of Nanami's talent, had inflicted a terrifying virus called "One Hundred Million Diseases" to cut short her life. However, it was suppressed by Migeiko; otherwise, Nanami would have long since been taken by the terrifying "One Hundred Million Diseases." Yet, even with Migeiko suppressing the power of the "One Hundred Million Diseases," Nanami's body was still growing weaker day by day.
"Is she nearing the time of her death? I remember that in the end, Nanami died at the hands of her younger brother, Shichika." Fujino murmured to herself.
In the original work, Nanami died at the hands of her younger brother. To be precise, however, Nanami had grown tired of her current life and had lost hope for the future due to her body constantly becoming more fragile, so she let herself die at the hands of her younger brother, Shichika. Otherwise, given Shichika's strength, he wouldn't have been able to harm Nanami in the slightest, even if there were ten of him.
"It seems I must take a trip to the Katanagatari world." Fujino smiled. Nanami possessed the Migeiko eyes, and although the status difference between hers and Fujino's was like heaven and earth, there was still a certain connection in their essence. After Fujino merged with Migeiko and condensed her core, she was judged as being of the Migeiko race.
The core was Fujino's center, the concentration of everything, so it was not wrong to say her race was Migeiko; one could say she was a one-person race. But now it was a bit different. Nanami possessed Migeiko, so in a sense, Nanami could be considered one of Fujino's kin—her younger sister. And of course, Fujino would save her own sister.
"It seems I need to finish the Re:Zero World sooner." Fujino murmured. Previously, Fujino hadn't been in a rush to finish, but now, because of her sister's situation, she needed to speed things up.
As her consciousness returned to her body, Fujino discovered that all the Royal Selection candidates had arrived, but their gazes were all fixed on Emilia, and everyone's eyes were filled with astonishment.
"Lia did well." Fujino looked around and immediately understood what had happened in the few short minutes her consciousness had been away.
The corners of her mouth curled up, revealing a smile breathtaking enough to stir the soul.
"It's time to end this."
