Chapter 273 - Chapter 273: Umbrella

On the empty, desolate land, Nyarko sat on a massive rock, gently swinging her legs wrapped in white silk stockings, humming a tune that was meaningless yet chilling.

"Haven't they arrived yet?"

Looking at her bare wrist, Nyarko remembered that she wasn't wearing a watch, nor had she agreed upon an exact time with Fujino.

Boom!

Suddenly, with a huge sound, the space before Nyarko rapidly twisted.

A high-tech gate materialized out of thin air. The free-floating energy in the atmosphere instantly became volatile, and even the sky was affected, emitting a

crimson alert. People in various major organizations watched the red-glowing screens before them with nervous expressions.

A Catastrophe is coming!

"Honestly, Fujino. Now those people are probably going to show up. I can't let you disturb them." Nyarko waved her hand, and the agitated energy in the air immediately returned to calm. The ominous dark clouds in the sky also vanished completely at that moment.

Although her actions made those people uneasy, she didn't care about them.

Nyarko smiled immediately as she watched Fujino and her group walk out of the gate.

"Welcome to this world."

Three years later, in front of the Umbrella Corporation headquarters.

A speeding car, accompanied by the sound of tires screeching against the pavement, stopped precisely in the Umbrella Corporation parking lot.

"Texas, can't you drive slower? It's a good thing we didn't hit anything this time! Otherwise, we wouldn't have money to compensate Umbrella!"

A girl whose head was topped with something resembling a Croissant loudly addressed the Lupo girl named Texas in the driver's seat.

Texas did not reply. She simply bit off the chocolate bar in her mouth and said coldly, "Get out."

"Alright, Croissant, let's hurry and get out. Once the mission is complete, we can have a good meal in Umbrella's cafeteria." The other girl in the car, a short red-haired girl with an Angel halo above her head, patted the girl named Croissant, who had horns: "I really miss the apple pie at Umbrella."

"Exusiai, is there nothing left in your life but apple pie?" Croissant complained. She hadn't forgotten how Exusiai had been obsessed with the apple pie made by the chef in Umbrella's cafeteria ever since she tasted it last time.

"Alright, let's go." Texas opened the car door and stepped out.

Exusiai and Croissant followed closely behind.

"It's as magnificent as ever." After getting out, Croissant's eyes shone as she looked at the building that seemed to pierce the clouds: "How much must this cost?"

"I heard it could buy the entirety of Lungmen." Exusiai nearby was also marveling at the enormous building. Although it was their second time seeing it, she was still stunned.

"Stop talking nonsense and come unload the cargo," Texas told the two slackers. "This is a big job. If we delay, we'll have trouble explaining ourselves."

"Relax, we're already here, and we haven't exceeded the time limit. Don't worry, Texas." Exusiai said, waving her hand, but her body honestly walked over to Texas to help unload the goods.

This was a huge business deal—a full thirty pieces of originium!

Looking across the entire Terra Continent, only Umbrella was wealthy enough to use originium for payment. Furthermore, these were the highest purity originium, with a value equivalent to nearly three pieces of commonly circulated originium on the market. This was one of Umbrella's specialties.

Only Umbrella could refine originium with a purity of up to one hundred percent. Umbrella was a company that disdained the use of inferior products; any originium below one hundred percent purity was considered scrap in their eyes and never utilized.

Not a single piece of originium that flowed out from Umbrella was less than one hundred percent pure.

After unloading the cargo from the back of the car, Texas began contacting the people at Umbrella.

Umbrella possessed the most terrifying security system in the world of Terra. If anyone trespassed without a pass, they would instantly be blasted to dust by Umbrella's security weapons.

Texas and the others had witnessed this firsthand the first time they delivered goods to Umbrella two years ago. At that time, Umbrella's name had only just appeared on the Terra Continent. A small group of Infected, who were either crazy or brainless, attempted to extort Umbrella. Before they even reached the entrance, a red light beam fired by the security system instantly took their lives. Under that red light, not a trace of the dozens of Infected remained, as if they had never existed.

The call connected quickly. After Texas spoke a few words, she showed a surprised look, nodded, and hung up the phone.

"What's wrong?" Croissant asked from the side.

"Umbrella's people aren't coming," Texas said flatly, placing a chocolate bar in her mouth.

"Huh? Why? Did they give up on the commission? I still wanted to taste the apple pie!" Exusiai looked disappointed, though it was unclear if it was because she couldn't eat the apple pie or because Umbrella had abandoned the commission.

However, Texas knew very well that this fellow was definitely upset because she couldn't get the apple pie.

She sighed and said, "They didn't abandon the commission. Umbrella's people just told us to go in ourselves."

"Go in ourselves? Do they want us to be blasted to dust by the security system?" Croissant's face turned pale. She had also witnessed Umbrella's security system, and she felt that her shield couldn't last even a second against that eerie red light.

"They've already granted us permission. We just need to go in," Texas said. "Alright, Croissant, come help. Exusiai, go to Sector D13 and bring the cart over."

"Got it!"

At the top of Umbrella's building, 2B put away the phone in her hand and said to Fujino, who was wrapped up in a quilt before her: "Fujino, the Penguin Logistics people are downstairs. I have already granted them access."

"That's fine," Fujino, wrapped in the quilt, said with her eyes closed, making it hard to tell if she was asleep or awake.

"Fujino, you should get up now," 2B said. "In the afternoon, you have a meeting scheduled with Dr. Silence from Rhine Lab and Miss Saria."

"I know," Fujino replied, opening her eyes this time. She yawned, pulled the quilt off her body, and revealed her naked form.

"It's more comfortable this way."
