Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Blade, a Weapon

Chapter 31: The Blade, a Weapon

The middle-aged man, addressed as Chairman by the Man in glasses, looked at what was placed before him.

Inside the wooden box made of high-quality mahogany was the treasure he had longed for and dreamed of for a long time.

The Chairman gave a long laugh and placed his thick palm on the long box, carefully stroking its smooth surface.

A look of greedy desire to possess it for himself flickered in his eyes.

"Certainly, certainly."

"As for the deaths at your hotel, remember to pay out the compensation in full. Don't let anyone catch wind of it and use it as an excuse to cause trouble."

"When that time comes, even I won't be able to protect you."

"After all, deaths are a serious matter; it's impossible for there to be no impact."

"I'll do my best to cover up the truth for you. The fire department will be visiting your hotel frequently from now on."

Upon hearing this, the Man in glasses' eyes instantly brightened.

A few days ago, all the male customers at his hotel had suddenly died overnight, and even the staff on duty hadn't been spared.

No one knew why, but it was so eerie and sudden that it made one's blood run cold.

If word got out, his hotel would likely be ordered shut by the government.

"Thank you, Chairman. Please accept this."

The Man in glasses respectfully pushed his family heirloom toward the Chairman.

Although his grandfather had once warned him never to open the seal.

But now that the family's pillar industry had taken such a heavy hit, it would be difficult to resolve the situation without presenting this treasure.

The Chairman looked at the mahogany box before him, feeling emotional.

Although he held great power in Shibuya and had connections in the government.

A matter of that magnitude was not something he could influence.

Unless the government covered it up, no one could possibly pass off that hotel incident as a gas leak.

It was pure fantasy; what kind of gas leak only kills men?

But none of that mattered. What mattered was that the object before him finally belonged to him.

The Chairman's gaze was urgent as he stared unblinkingly at the wooden box.

He opened the wooden box, and inside lay a precious blade.

The entire sword was wrapped in yellowed cloth strips covered in strange writing.

It looked very aged, carrying the weight of time.

It seemed like an artifact from a thousand years ago, ancient and steeped in history.

The Chairman picked it up carefully and slowly cut open the seal.

Layer after layer of yellowed cloth strips were removed.

Before long, a Tang sword with a red scabbard, hilt, and blade—engraved with golden dragon patterns on the scabbard—appeared before their eyes.

"A fine blade! A fine blade! Truly a peerless blade!"

The Chairman stroked the scabbard, savoring the feel.

It was delicate, like precious jade.

And like a young girl's skin, seemingly so fragile it could break at a touch.

One couldn't help but want to draw it.

With a shring, the blade was unsheathed.

The blade's aura was bone-chillingly cold, and its glint flashed brilliantly!

Like a silver dragon, it soared forth!

"Chairman!" The Man in glasses was about to stop the Chairman from drawing the sword, but he hadn't expected it to be out already.

His grandfather had warned him that the blade must never be drawn from its scabbard, or a great disaster would befall them.

The Man in glasses looked at the unsheathed blade and didn't see any sign of an impending disaster.

The Chairman looked at the Tang sword with a satisfied gaze.

"After so many years, you are finally mine."

Looking at the Tang sword, the Chairman felt as if he were seeing a long-lost first love.

His gaze was gentle, satisfied, and joyful.

Seeing the Chairman so pleased with his gift, the Man in glasses couldn't help but feel delighted.

"Chairman, it's nearly noon. I've prepared fine wine and exquisite food in the private room you usually frequent."

"I invite you to join me for a meal."

The Man in glasses invited him cheerfully, unaware that in the next second, his head would be severed from his body.

"Mine, you are mine."

The Chairman spoke as if in a dream, a bloodthirsty crimson flash instantly crossing his eyes.

A line of blood streaked across, and a head flew off.

The Man in glasses felt the world spinning, then saw a headless corpse before him.

"Eh, who is this? This back looks so familiar."

Then the Man in glasses realized that it was his own body.

He was dead!

"A fine blade indeed; it truly needs blood as a sacrifice."

The Chairman's mind was manipulated by the Tang sword, and he became its Blade Slave.

Just as the Chairman was preparing to slaughter everyone in the mall so the Tang sword could drink its fill of blood...

...he discovered that he was already surrounded by eerie and terrifying monsters!

The Chairman looked at these Cursed Spirits without fear, as if they were just a ragtag bunch, not even worth a single strike.

The Chairman let out an extremely savage laugh.

"Hahahaha! With this blade, who can stop me!"

But in the next second, he was torn to pieces by swarms of Cursed Spirits.

The Cursed Spirits began to kill each other, constantly devouring, merging, and slaughtering.

Under the influence of the Tang sword, countless Cursed Spirits died, and new ones were born!

It was as if everything was being driven by the blood-red, terrifying Tang sword hovering in the air.

Soon, a brand-new cursed womb appeared in the room.

It was as large as a water buffalo, its Cursed Energy restrained; a brand-new Special Grade Cursed Spirit was gestating within!

Special Grade, has arrived!

And the root of all this was the butterfly effect brought about by Alex Moyan's arrival in this world.

Inside the massive mall, the Jujutsu High quartet was browsing the supermarket on the first basement floor.

"Excuse me, sir, please don't sit in the shopping cart."

A supermarket staff member was chasing after a white-haired boy in sunglasses with all his might; behind the white-haired boy was an embarrassed-looking black-haired boy.

At this moment, Satoru was sitting in a shopping cart, being pushed around the supermarket by Geto Suguru.

"Suguru-chan, faster, faster!"

"Hahahaha."

Satoru laughed happily, while Geto Suguru looked thoroughly embarrassed.

If Satoru hadn't been clamoring to play, he would never have done something so childish and humiliating.

"Sir, please don't do this in the supermarket. It's very dangerous."

The staff member panted, finally blocking the shopping cart containing Satoru.

Alex Moyan's voice came from nearby.

"That's right, Satoru. How can you cause trouble for the staff like that? It's not right."

Hearing Alex Moyan's serious tone...

...he would have almost believed him if he hadn't seen the other sitting on a toy shopping cart specifically made for children!

"Sir, please don't sit on the electric shopping cart. That's a toy for little kids."

The staff member sighed helplessly.

"I'm a child too!"

"Actually, I'm only eight years old!"

The staff member looked at Alex Moyan, who was three heads taller than him.

"Eight years old? Like hell!!!"

Alex Moyan: "Multiply it by two, and I'm still a minor, aren't I?"

"I really am just a child!"

"Don't take away my mount!"

Alex Moyan was promptly asked to get off the cart by the staff.

If Alex Moyan sat on it any longer, the cart would probably be crushed.

When it was over, Alex Moyan and Satoru were escorted out of the supermarket.

Shoko Ieiri, standing nearby, couldn't even bear to look and pretended she didn't know them.
