"DIE!"
Akainu charged. The Red Dog abandoned all restraint, pouring every single ounce of his remaining Haki, every drop of his molten Devil Fruit power, into one final, apocalyptic execution strike. He closed the distance in a blur of volcanic heat, aiming his white-hot fist directly for the Emperor's face.
Whitebeard did not raise his arms to block. He didn't brace for the incoming magma.
He knew he was done.
As the Admiral closed the final few feet, Whitebeard's golden eye widened slightly.
Suddenly.
The Emperor looked directly at Akainu.
The peaceful, accepting smile on the Emperor's face vanished, instantly replaced by a fierce, booming, blood-stained grin of pure, unadulterated amusement.
"GURARARARA!" Whitebeard laughed, the sound bubbling thickly through his ruined throat.
"KID!"
"DEATH TAKES US ALL!"
'Obviously senile at the end of his life!' Akainu internally spat at the dying old man.
"GURARA-"
SMASH!
TSSSSS-KA-BOOMM!
Akainu directly slammed his magma fist on the laughing old man's face with a devastating force.
The molten rock bored inward, completely incinerating what little remained of the Emperor's brain and violently blowing his head clean off his shoulders.
TSSSS.
Akainu directly evaporated Whitebeard's head off his massive body.
That smile, that charm, melted down to the bones.
Edward Newgate, the Strongest Man in the World, the great father of the seas, finally, truly died. Yet, impossibly, his body refused to fall. He remained standing, a towering, headless monument, his broad back proudly facing the sea.
"HA... HA..."
Akainu stood before the towering corpse, his chest heaving, his magma dripping onto the ice. The deed was done. The monster was dead.
His emotions were in a turmoil.
"WHY DON'T YOU LAUGH NOW HUH?!"
He had killed Whitebeard.
"Ha... hahaha.... hahahaha.... HAHAHAHA!"
"DEAD!"
"DEAD! THE BASTARD IS FINALLY DEAD!!"
Akainu began to pull his arm back. A dark, vicious sneer curled across his lips.
This was an opportunity.
The whole world was watching.
Akainu began.
"LISTEN WELL PIRA--" Akainu spat.
Pierce! Pshhh.
"GAH-"
A sudden, sharp, horrific pain exploded in the absolute center of his chest. It was the icy, terrifyingly precise agony of cold steel piercing his flesh.
*COUGH COUGH*
Akainu violently coughed, spitting a massive mouthful of dark blood onto the ice.
DRIP. DRIP.
He looked down.
A pitch-black, Haki-drenched saber could be seen erupting from the center of his chest.
The dark steel was perfectly centered, having pierced cleanly through his back, easily bypassing his Logia intangibility, and erupting directly through his heart.
His heart was pierced.
His magma instantly sputtered and died, his body returning to vulnerable flesh as his heart was annihilated.
The Admiral slowly, agonizingly turned his head, his neck popping, his eyes wide with shock. His clouded Observation Haki hadn't sensed a thing.
Standing directly behind him, perfectly framed by the towering corpse of Whitebeard, was Light Yagami.
The False Deity's pristine black coat was torn, but his eyes were cold, abyssal pools of absolute, calculated execution.
He held the hilt of the dark saber firmly, having perfectly timed his 20-second Future Sight and his hypersonic descent from the heavens to strike at the exact second the Admiral's emotions were in turmoil while just having killed The Emperor, Whitebeard.
Today, he, Light Yagami, had come here to kill the 'top' of Justice.
If not Sengoku, then another.
And Akainu... well.
No shame in in a sword or two from the back while the other just finished his battle and was already half-dead.
"Say."
"Sakazuki."
Light gave him a bright smile.
"We're old friends, aren't we?"
"Having been unable to chat with you today, I thought I'd take some time."
Light twisted his saber.
"GAH-!"
BLEUGH.
Blood continuously pooled the ground from Akainu's lips and heart.
Light continued, "Did you like my gift?"
He gave the saber a good swirl, it still piercing through Akainu's heart.
"Ah, this is nothing... no need for thanks."
PAT. PAT.
He patted Akainu's shoulder.
"I know you'd do the same for me, right?"
Light looked expectantly at Akainu.
Akainu's vision swam.
He shouldn't have focused on Whitebeard.
He should have killed Light first.
He shouldn't have let his emotions go in turmoil after successfully melting off Whitebeard's head.
He shouldn't have...
Useless.
It was all useless now.
The absolute hatred in his eyes warred with the terrifying realization that he had been played.
"Ya...gami...!!" Akainu whispered weakly, blood spilling rapidly over his lips.
Light looked at the dying Admiral. His expression remained entirely devoid of mercy. He simply watched, his cold eyes unblinking, as the life faded from the Navy's most lethal weapon.
"Goodbye."
