Loki stared at the translucent blue screen hovering at eye level, invisible to everyone around him.

His system had finally awakened.

"Hey." A hand knocked his shoulder from the left. "You're doing the blank stare thing again. You look like a dead fish."

Loki closed the screen with a thought and turned his head.

Finn Daley was standing beside him with both hands stuffed into the pockets of his faded jean trouser.

He was a little shorter than Loki, with messy brown hair, and a permanent grin on his face even when there was nothing funny. The grin was present now but Loki knew he was incredibly nervous inside.

"What do you know? This is how SSS-rank talents stare." Loki lips curled into a smirk.

Finn glanced at him sideways. "Nervous?"

"No."

"Right." Finn exhaled slowly brushing his hand through his hair as he glanced at the massive podium before them.

"I'm nervous enough for both of us, so that balances out."

The Blood-Game Field was massive. Three football fields could fit inside of this stadium. It looked more like a gladiator battle ground than an actual stadium.

Three thousand students from all works of life queued in rows and columns that stretched all the way to the edge of the stadium.

Hundreds of conversations, whispers and laughter rumbled through the entire stadium like a tide in an ocean.

Up in the spectator's seat, lthe second-year students and some of the third year students had claimed their spots early.

They leaned against the railings in groups, some of them pointing down at specific recruits, others just watching with the curiosity.

"I heard the Walton kid already has a master," someone up in the gallery spoke up. "Pre-contracted. Before the ceremony."

"Is that even legal?"

"Instructors don't care. If the bloodline talent or potential is there, they move early."

Finn overheard it and licked his lips excitedly as he leaned toward Loki. "See, that's the dream. If we can awaken a high grade talent or bloodline, we would have master sponsor us." He then glances at Loki. "What's the dream for you?"

Loki shrugged his shoulders."Pass the entrance exam," he said finally.

Finn waited. "And?"

"That's it."

Finn stared at him with gritted teeth. . "You're itching for a beating aren't you. How's your dream just to pass. What about s rank talent, legendary class and Mythic Bloodline?"

"One thing at a time."

"You are the least exciting person I have ever been friends with," Finn slapped his forehead and sighed.

Finn and Loki had been friends for two years, they were both last and second to the last during the recruit training test.

Most of the other recruits kept their distance from Loki specifically, because of the title that followed him everywhere like a second shadow. Son of the traitor.

Finn had either not heard it yet when they first started talking, or heard it and decided it wasn't his problem. Loki had never asked which.

They had met and become friends in the medical hall after being beaten up by the bullies.

On the high table, a row of instructors sat around an old man. The old man had wrinkles allover his face but looking down from his faced revealed an extremely muscular figure like that of a greek god.

He's the vice Vice-Principal.

The Vice-Principal as well as the Instructors sat comfortably as they observed the students below them.

Loki's eyes moved to the high table and stopped.

Instructor Griselda stood third from the left.

She was in her mid-twenties with pale blonde hair pulled back tightly and an extremely beautiful face with breathtaking figure.

The horns on her head revealed she was actually a Dragonkin!

She was holding a slim datapad and making notes and typing on the holographic keyboard.

"Ugh, Loki. Come on."

"I'm not doing anything."

"You're staring at Instructor Griselda again."

"I'm looking at the instructor panel."

Finn shook his head slowly. "She hates your guts."

Loki looked away. "She's a good instructor."

"She pairs you with the strongest student in class all the time."

"That's just her being thorough."

Finn opened his mouth in disbelief. 'How down bad can a person be?"I genuinely worry about you sometimes."

Up on the platform, Vice-Principal Harrow raised one hand and the entire field turned silent so fast the air seems to have suffered whiplash.

"Six hundred and sixty-six years ago," he said, "The VR-Game, God and Devil Domain merged with our world, rewriting reality."

"Portals opened. Dungeons erupted from the earth and Dimensional zones appeared without warning. And in the span of a single night, reality changed in ways it is still not finished understanding."

Not a sound from the crowd.

"You stand here today because you are 16 years old."

"At 16, one can create a new profile in the game."

"Once registered, your in-game avatars will merge with your physical bodies. Today you will receive random talents and bloodlines selected by the system."

"Today you find out if you're a phoenix or just a bird."

His eyes scanned the crowd and he smiled.

"Don't be nervous I'm sure you all will do alright."

"Now you will called in randomly. When called, you will step forward to the Awakening Machine, Register your character, confirm your gene sequence, and receive what the Domain has decided to give you."

"Try not to embarrass yourselves."

Quiet laughter moved through the crowd. Then it settled again, and the registrar called the first name.

"Gerald Walton."

A tall boy near the front stepped forward without hesitation. He might seem nervous but he certainly didn't show it.

He walked forward to the awakening platform. At the center of the platform was a large machine with a crystal platform at the top.

He placed his palm on the pyramid platform. An holographic image popped up.

[Ding! Character Gerald Walton created. Gene confirmed.]

[Welcome to God and Devil Domain.]

A massive pillar of light suddenly descended from above and landed on Gerald body.

[Talent Awakened: Strength Enhancement — D Rank]

[Bloodline Awakened: Werewolf — Silver Rank]

[Avatar Fusion: Activated.]

Mumurs immediately erupted from the spectator's seat.

"His talent is impressive and his Bloodline even more so. "

"Obviously pre-contracted."

Gerald stepped back to his row smiling as people clapped for him.
