Chapter 1 - Born

A man placed a hand on his wife's stomach, "Kaori, we're really having a kid. You're growing a little human in your stomach." Kaori Itadori smiled. She put her hand over her husband's. "Yes, this is quite exciting, isn't it? Here, feel him kicking," She moved his hand over to the side, and the baby kicked against her stomach. "Our little boy. He's going to be strong, isn't he, Dad?" Wasuke was an older man; he had a stern personality, and for the past year, his alarm bells had been going off whenever he saw Kaori. He was in deep thought about the whole child situation. He was snapped back to attention at the call of his name. "Dad?! Are you ok?" Wasuke blinked twice, he shook his head and glared at his son, "I'm fine. Focus on yourself, Jin." Jin was the husband of Kaori, a kind man with pink hair and poor eyesight, though he wore glasses, they clearly did nothing for his sight as he somehow never noticed or rather never questioned the stitches running across his wife's forehead. "It's just so exciting," He rubbed the back of his head. "What are we naming him?" Kaori glanced at her enlarged stomach, "His name will be..."

She screamed as the baby's head was pushed out. A nurse held her hand, "Ma'am, breathe. You, you're her husband, right? Don't just stand there, hold her hand!" Jin snapped out of his stupor and grabbed Kaori's hand. "I'm right here, just one more big push." He tried to remain calm, but his voice wavered. Kaori gripped his hand; she made it feel like she would pull it off. With a final great push, the sound of crying filled the room. A baby was placed into Kaori's arms, their baby. Jin saw the long cord still connecting the baby to his mother and nearly fainted when handed a pair of scissors. After the cut of the umbilical cord, Jin got a moment to breathe. "Jin, meet the newest member of our family. Yuji. Yuji Itadori." Jin beamed at his son. The nurse took him away for cleaning while Jin stayed to hold Kaori's hand. "How are you feeling?" She smiled weakly, "I'm fine, well as fine as one can be after pushing out a whole human." Jin nodded, he couldn't imagine the pain she must have felt, 9 months of carrying a child and then pushing him out, not only painful, but it also must feel very lonely for her. He was determined to stay by her no matter what. "Did you need anything? I'll bring it right away." Jin squeezed her hand as she deliberated. "I could go for something sweet. Just see what they have in the cafeteria." Jin nodded and stood. He told her he'd be right back and ran out of the room. He missed his father approaching the room. Wasuke took a chair from the wall and set it next to the bed. "Cut the shit. Who are you?" Wasuke wasn't stupid; no serious accident or surgery happened to her, and yet she shows up with a scar and stitches on her forehead. She also acted differently. She was attentive before, but after the stitching, it was like she was an entirely different person. Sometimes he'd catch her with a calculating smile, or writing something in a notebook that she kept locked in her drawer. Kaori smiled and twisted her head, "What do you mean, pops? It's me." Wasuke shook his head. "Don't fucking lie to me-" Jin entered the room, only to see his father shaking Kaori, and her looking distressed. He ran in and grabbed his father and pulled him away. "What are you doing?!" Jin's face showed barely contained anger; he had the two sense to call security and make sure his father was banned. "Get out!" Wasuke stepped back. He had never seen Jin so angry in all the years he'd known the boy, which was his whole life; he'd never once heard him raise his voice. "Jin, I was trying to-" Jin shouted over him, "Trying to what? Cause to me it seemed like you were assaulting my wife, who just gave birth to our precious boy!" Wasuke stepped back. The door was open, and he heard footsteps approach. Before he was escorted out, he decided to leave on his own. He stopped at the threshold and spared a look back. Jin was still staring at him, but behind him was a horrifying sight. Kaori lifted her hand to her stitches and pulled them away. She grabbed her hair and opened her head; inside was a brain with a mouth. She smiled at him before Jin slammed the door shut in his face. His face was pale, and his eyes were wide. Nurses approached, found him in this state, and brought him to sit in one of the nonemergency rooms. "Are you ok, sir?" One of the nurses asked. She was definitely young, maybe just an intern. He shook his head. He couldn't tell them; then he'd be sent to an asylum, and he wouldn't be able to protect Jin and his grandson. "I'm fine, just a bit dizzy. This old man must not be working out enough." The nurse looked skeptical, but seeing as there were no other physical ailments or anything, and his heart rate and breathing seemed fine, she let him go with a warning to take care of himself.

Yuji was back in the arms of his mother while Jin carefully stroked the baby's skin. It was smooth and loose; he was a small baby, born a few weeks premature. "I just know it, you'll grow up to be a fighter, won't you, Yuji? Just make sure to never give up." Kaori watched with a smile, her expression would be strange to any normal onlooker. She definitely was smiling, but she looked to be calculating with a knowing undertone. Jin didn't mind; he had his family, they were all happy, that is all that matters.
