Jenny's Parents Arrive
Not long after, their parents, Meliana and Hendra, arrived.
Meliana immediately called
Jenny.
"Jen! Mama's already at the hospital! Which ICU room is she in?"
"Room 204, Ma," Jenny replied briefly, her voice heavy with exhaustion.
Finally, they met Jenny. Her face was swollen, her eyes puffy from crying. She hugged her mother and father tightly.
Jenny then led them to see her sister, who was still unconscious and weak. Her heartbeat seemed to falter, as if ready to stop.
Meliana and Hendra were deeply moved by their child's condition. They approached Jenny, worried.
"How is she now?" they asked.
Jenny sobbed, her voice hoarse.
"She's getting worse! All this is because she saw Hendrik marrying again!" Jenny growled, holding back her anger.
Meliana, equally furious, glared at Hendrik.
"Hendrik! How dare you defy us? We'll see about this!" she threatened.
The three of them went silent, their minds fixed only on Hendrik… the man who had hurt Katrina, Jenny, and their family.
Back at Hendrik's House
That night, Hendrik and Lanny completely lost themselves in the emotions they had buried—between love, revenge, and desire.
After being together repeatedly, Hendrik woke up. A pang of guilt struck him for ignoring Katrina, yet his heart felt frozen. He clenched his fists and muttered to himself:
"She wants freedom… she doesn't want to be bound by Katrina's family rules. I'm not the same as I used to be."
His eyes fell on their wedding photo on the wall. Today, he felt it was time to rebel against Katrina's family.
Hendrik grabbed a cold drink from the fridge, closing his eyes. His thirst was quenched, though not just by water. He sat in thought; the clock showed 2 a.m., and he muttered:
"She suffered for years restraining herself… restraining her relationship with her wife because of cancer."
Back in the bedroom, Hendrik looked at Lanny, sleeping soundly. With her, he rediscovered a love he had lost. He still felt pity for Katrina, but tonight he chose to follow his heart.
Morning at Hendrik's House
Suddenly, Lanny stirred. Her closed eyes opened wide.
"Dear! Why aren't you sleeping?" she asked curiously.
Hendrik replied casually, "I just went to the bathroom… and I'm thirsty."
Lanny smiled sweetly and pulled Hendrik back into bed.
"Come on, dear… sleep again, it's still early," she whispered. Hendrik nodded and lay beside her.
Yet Lanny did not sleep. She pressed against Hendrik, teasing gently, reigniting the desire between them. They lost count of how many times, as if it would never be enough.
Time passed until morning, and finally, they fell asleep.
Confrontation at Hendrik's House
Hendrik quickly stepped out after changing clothes. As the door opened, Jenny and Meliana stood glaring, furious.
Suddenly, Jenny slapped Hendrik. Her mother tried to strike him as well, but Hendrik deftly blocked it.
"Hendrik! You're so rude!" Jenny shouted, panting.
She tried to hit again, but Hendrik blocked her, causing Jenny to fall.
Hendrik restrained his anger and yelled at them:
"Jenny, you have no manners! Entering someone's house and slapping people like that!"
"If you have no further business, leave! Or I'll call security to remove you, understood?" Hendrik added, eyes sharp and commanding.
Jenny and Meliana froze, shocked by his words.
"Hendrik… you've changed! Ever since you've been with that woman!" Jenny shouted.
"Silence, Jen! She's not a homewrecker! I asked her to be my companion!" Hendrik replied firmly.
Soon, two security guards, who had been waiting because of the commotion, approached.
"Please remove them from the premises! They're causing a disturbance," Hendrik ordered.
"Sorry, Ma'am… please leave. You've already caused enough trouble!" the guards said firmly.
Before leaving, Jenny glared at Hendrik, full of threats.
"Hendrik… just wait for my revenge!" she shouted, trying to re-enter the house.
"Hey, homewrecker… get out!" Jenny screamed.
Hendrik held Jenny back; a struggle ensued until she collapsed, injured.
Meliana quickly lifted her daughter, looking at Hendrik with a mix of anger and disappointment.
"Well done, Hendrik… seems your true colors are finally showing. Katrina was foolish… to be with a man like you!"
After the Commotion
Lanny, who had been watching from the window, felt a swirl of emotions—fear, anxiety, and guilt for having caused the chaos. Her body trembled, hands tightly clenched.
Hendrik returned inside. Lanny approached, pale.
"Dear … I caused all that trouble. I feel guilty… I don't want to disrespect your wife's family!"
Hendrik gently embraced her shoulders.
"You're not at fault! I asked you to marry me. Let them make a fuss—I'll face them all!" he declared, clenching his fist tightly.
He took her hand, guiding her inside. Lanny smiled, resting her head on Hendrik's chest, heart racing yet comforted by his presence.
"My love… today, I want to take you to Singapore. Let's spend our honeymoon there. Will you come?" Hendrik asked.
Lanny nodded, holding his hand firmly. Like two people freshly in love, they returned to the bedroom to satisfy lingering desires. After bathing together, they prepared to leave, eating toast with strawberry jam.
Suddenly, the phone rang from the office. Hendrik frowned.
"Why is Yuni calling so early?"
He picked up. Yuni's panicked voice came through:
"Mr. Hendrik… this is Yuni. Our company's bank account is empty! Someone withdrew a huge sum yesterday!"
"What?! Who withdrew that much, Yuni?!" Hendrik exclaimed.
Yuni stammered:
"It… it was our major commissioner, Mr. Hendra Gunawan. He ordered his men to take the funds!"
Hendrik's eyes flared with anger. His fists clenched, blood boiling.
"So this is where the real battle begins… no one will stop me from protecting what's mine!" he muttered.
Lanny looked at Hendrik, scared yet impressed by his resolve. She held his hand tighter, determined to stand by him through the coming storm.
Hendrik picked up the business card he had just received. His eyes narrowed, full of determination. Without wasting a moment, he immediately called his former partner, Maria Ozawa, who had previously wanted to collaborate with him.
The call connected, and Maria's voice came through, calm but confident:
"Hello Hendrik… how are you?!"
"I'm fine, Maria! Regarding the collaboration, I'm willing to work with you!" Hendrik replied firmly, his voice full of authority.
Maria smiled sweetly from the other end.
"I knew you would call me. Alright, let's meet tomorrow!"
The call ended. Hendrik took a deep breath, feeling relieved. The company's finances would soon be back on track, though Hendra's threat still loomed.
He looked out the window and muttered to himself, filled with anger and defiance:
"That old fool thinks he's the only one with money!"
Blood boiling and eyes blazing, Hendrik knew that Hendra's game had just begun—and this time, he would not lose.
