Chapter 108 - Teacher Guy is Crying in the Hallway!

"Tsk, these guys really can't take a hit."

Peter felt a pang of disappointment. He still had the basic styles of Water and Earth, not to mention the derivative forms like All-Dragon, Infinity, or Special Rush. Yet, the opposition had already folded.

It felt like finally going on a date with a beautiful, white-haired, red-eyed beast-girl, and just as you're ready to show off your moves, you find out she's so sensitive that she faints before you even start.

The emptiness!

Fortunately, while Hell's Kitchen was filled with small fry, the sheer volume of them was impressive.

He couldn't enjoy going all out, but switching styles for a "tasting menu" of destruction was enough to keep him satisfied.

Over the next hour, Peter speed-ran seven or eight major gang strongholds. He incinerated social dregs with Flame Style, planted thugs into the concrete like crops with Land Style, and turned others into ice sculptures with Water Style before shattering them into glistening red dust.

By the time he was done, hundreds of gang members had met their end. Satisfied with his elemental test drive, Peter vanished from the Kitchen.

"Next stop—the Bronx Zoo!"

As one of the world's largest zoos with the most diverse species list in New York, it was the perfect "grocery store" for DNA. Peter had a high-tech watch that was currently starving for data.

Landing lightly in the center plaza, Peter deactivated his transformation. The Wizard Driver dissolved into a streak of light, receding into his body. He raised his left wrist, looking at the emerald hourglass dial.

"Operation: Zoo Shopping Spree, start!"

Before gathering exotic samples, Peter used his Byakugan to lock onto two specific insects.

The first was a spider weaving a web in a park corner—the symbol of a Spider-Man. The second was a grasshopper (or locust) munching on a leaf—the soul of a Kamen Rider!

He pointed the Omnitrix's scanning beam at the tiny creatures.

[Scanning... DNA Sample Analysis in progress...]

[DNA Sample Collected: European Garden Spider]

[DNA Sample Collected: Red-legged Grasshopper]

Two small insect icons lit up next to the hourglass. Peter rubbed his hands together, eager to see the result. He turned the dial to the spider icon and slammed it down!

The expected transformation into a giant man-spider didn't happen. Instead, a slight vibration hummed against his skin, and a new physical dial rose from the side of the watch face.

On the dial were markings: 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.

"Huh? Mimicry percentage?"

The shop description said it was a blank prototype, but it seemed the system's "magic modification" had added a layer of nuance. Peter's curiosity piqued. He twisted the sub-dial to 25%.

Sss—!

A strange sensation rippled through his cells. For a fleeting second, Peter felt as if an ancient, cosmic gaze was briefly fixed upon him from the "Great Web," but it vanished just as quickly as his DNA stabilized.

He looked in a nearby reflective window. He looked human, but...

"My raw physical power dropped a bit to accommodate the genetic shift, but..." He raised his right hand in the iconic Spider-Man web-shooting pose.

Thwip!

A strand of white, organic webbing shot from his wrist, sticking firmly to a distant tree trunk.

"Holy—! Organic webbing like the Tobey version?!"

This was the perfect way to satisfy his lingering "Spider-Man" nostalgia without actually being bound by the fate of the spider. Using webs to swing through the city with Gwen would be a nice change of pace.

"So, 25% grants partial abilities while keeping the human form..."

He turned the dial to 50%.

This time, his back began to itch. Suddenly, four greyish-brown spider legs—sharp at the tips and covered in biological markings—burst from his back! They moved with perfect fluidity, controlled by his mind. They could be used for movement or as lethal piercing weapons.

"I've got myself an External Spirit Bone!"

He didn't stop there. He pushed it to 75%.

This time, the change was violent. His muscles bulged, his height shot up to 2.5 meters, multiple red compound eyes erupted across his face, and fangs elongated from his jaw.

It was the "Man-Spider" form—the horrific, out-of-control transformation from the '94 animated series.

"Stop, stop! Abort!"

Peter quickly dialed it back to zero, reverting to normal. Being strong is temporary, but being handsome is forever. He wasn't about to spend his life looking like a horror movie extra.

"The spider's high-concentration form is a bit gross, but that's a spider problem, not a watch problem!"

If he went to Ta Lo and scanned the DNA of the Great Protector (the dragon), a 75% transformation would be majestic, not disgusting.

He realized the Omnitrix's true value. Ben Tennyson's watch was "All or Nothing." You either stay human or you become the alien. Peter's watch allowed for genetic blending.

He could extract the burst speed of a cheetah without turning into a four-legged cat. He could grow hawk wings from his back without losing his hands.

"What Omnitrix? This is just an 'All-Purpose Zoan Devil Fruit' with the sea-weakness deleted!"

Somewhere in another universe, a certain "Green Beast" Teacher Guy would be weeping with envy at the sheer youthful potential of these transformations!
