"She just left like that?"
Gwen watched Sif depart while covering her face, a trace of guilt inevitably surfacing over her countenance. She turned back to look at Peter, asking as if soliciting an opinion:
"Was I a bit too excessive just now?"
Seeing her guilt-ridden appearance, Peter couldn't help but find it somewhat amusing. He couldn't resist pulling her over and planting a gentle kiss on her cheek:
"Rest assured, this has nothing to do with you. Those Asgardians are all built like this."
Felicia also chimed in carelessly from the side:
"You don't need to concern yourself with her. She clearly received a severe stimulus. Once she returns from her special training, she might very well come back to challenge us again. Caring about her right now is purely looking for discomfort for yourself."
Hearing her say this, Gwen finally put her mind completely at ease. Thus, she permitted Peter to lead her and Felicia back into the room to prepare to enjoy dinner together.
At the dining table.
Uncle Ben sat in the master seat, looking at Gwen and Felicia who surrounded his nephew. Then, recalling that girl with long golden hair who looked matchlessly aggrieved previously, his expression was complex to the absolute point of saturation.
He harbored an intention to remind Peter, from the standpoint of an elder, to be single-minded and responsible in emotional matters. But when the words reached his lips, he swallowed them back down.
How should he say it? Say, "Peter, you are doing this incorrectly. A good man can only love one woman in a lifetime"?
This sentence was applicable to himself, but as for Peter... His nephew was no longer that little boy who required his guidance on how to be a good person. He was now the Adjudicator, the great hero who saved the Earth.
He had defeated the vampires who spanned across the multiverse, and had even relied on his solitary strength to thoroughly drag that gang of bastards in the White House down from their high horses. Right now, what was hoisted across his shoulders was the weight of an entire civilization.
After experiencing so many matters, enjoying himself... just a tiny bit, what was wrong with that?
Thinking up to here, Uncle Ben suddenly felt relieved. Meaningfully hoisting the milk glass before him, he gestured toward Peter:
"Peter, you've grown up." "Your uncle is proud of you."
Peter faintly sensed the complex emotions within Uncle Ben's words. He couldn't resist letting out a light chuckle. After opening his mouth to accept the steak fed over by Felicia, he likewise gestured with his glass toward Uncle Ben, subsequently speaking meaningfully:
"Rest assured, Uncle Ben. In the future, there will be plenty more times for you to feel proud of me."
Having sent away that "massive trouble," Sif, the remaining time naturally belonged to Peter and his two "primary wives."
Perhaps it was out of an intention to reward Peter for saving this universe, or perhaps during this past period, the two best friends had thoroughly thought things through. Tonight, neither of them returned home early.
This also caused Peter to faintly realize one thing: Yeah, it seems I truly can no longer live together with Uncle Ben and Aunt May.
Although he had long since regarded them as his biological parents, even with biological parents, it was about time to avoid suspicion at this age. In the future, returning to visit the two elders every few days would be entirely sufficient.
...
A night of tenderness and romance goes without saying.
The next morning, when the first ray of sunlight pierced through the gap in the curtains and fell onto Peter's face, he slowly opened his eyes, a satisfied smile inevitably surfacing over his face. This was everything he fought for.
He carefully climbed out of bed without disturbing anyone. After tucking them in tightly and leaving a morning kiss on their foreheads, Peter dressed and silently left the room.
He still had matters to attend to. Having settled the friction between Sif, Gwen, and Felicia, he prepared to strike while the iron was hot and thoroughly resolve his absolute final "trouble" altogether.
New York, S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters Building, Top Floor Office.
When Peter pushed open the door, Hill was inside handling official business. The workload of S.H.I.E.L.D. was quite extensive, and with this Peter fellow acting as a hands-off manager, Hill's volume of work was indisputably heavy.
Not having seen her for a period of time, two faint dark circles hung over Hill's exquisite face. Her refined and capable looks were slightly haggard because of this.
Seeing her like this, Peter felt quite unable to bear it in his heart. He couldn't resist placing his hand flat against her shoulder, activating a strand of the Horse Talisman's power.
Hill, who was busy bending over her desk, was startled by this sudden touch. Her entire being instinctively wanted to strike back in retaliation.
But in the next split second, due to the refreshing sensation brought by the quiet dissipation of her exhaustion, she couldn't resist emitting a micro-perceptible muffled groan.
This sound caused Peter, who had just been busy for an entire night, to subconsciously feel a surge of excitement. However, he rapidly adjusted his state, putting on the posture of a superior handling official business as he opened his mouth:
"Agent Maria, work can never be finished. Sometimes you must also learn to delegate unnecessary work to subordinates and properly enjoy life."
Hearing this, Hill couldn't resist rolling her beautiful eyes dramatically at him:
"If my Director were a dutiful and responsible good Director, then I truly wouldn't need to be this busy~"
After targeting Peter with a sarcastic remark, she ultimately exposed a smile, speaking in a teasing tone:
"Having the time to come over and concern yourself with an old woman like me, it would be better to go see Daisy.
That girl's resentment recently has been exceptionally massive." "The trainees of the same batch have all become her punching bags, beaten black and blue by her every single day." "If you don't come to intervene soon, the trainees might all be driven away by her."
Peter was distinctly here precisely because of this matter, yet a breeze-and-light-clouds appearance was displayed over his face as he joked:
"A woman is like fine wine; she requires the precipitation of years to display a mellow charm... Besides, I see that Agent Maria isn't old in the slightest, looking at most twenty-five or twenty-six years old."
"Cut that out!" Hill deliberately put on a serious appearance, yet the corners of her mouth subconsciously curled upward slightly. Within her heart, she couldn't resist secretly thinking: Could this Director fellow truly harbor some thoughts toward me?
Although I am a practitioner of non-marriage, if I could have such a handsome, wealthy, and borderline invincible man to relieve my pressure, it would indeed be a difficult-to-resist temptation.
Only, before she could continue thinking deeply, Peter had already drifted out of the office. This caused Hill to subconsciously pout her lips:
Humph, in the end, he's just a big flirt!
Right when Hill was complaining about Peter in her heart in this manner, Peter had already silently arrived at the Agent Training Camp.
Exactly as Hill had said, inside the training camp, Daisy was currently using the crowd of agent trainees to vent the resentment in her heart.
The pitiful young people were each integrated into a tragic state of being black and blue from the torment; seeing her was simply more horrifying than the Spider-Men seeing the Inheritors.
