Chapter 5 - A Quite Change

Chapter 5:

Two weeks had passed since Yuvan arrived.

In that short span of time, everything had changed. The mansion, once quiet, empty, and lifeless, now carried a gentle warmth. Laughter echoed through its halls, replacing the heavy silence that used to linger even at night.

It was morning.

Yuvan moved about the kitchen, helping the maids with ease, as though he had always belonged there. Over the past two weeks, he had made it a habit to assist the servants. At first, they had been hesitant, unwilling to let their master work alongside them. But Yuvan's soft nature soon put them at ease.

His kind words, gentle smile, and the way he spoke to them like old friends made all the difference. He made them feel seen—valued.

And just like that, they grew fond of him.

In only two weeks, Yuvan had won their hearts.

---

By noon, the food was ready and laid out in the dining hall.

Today, Yuvan had prepared a special dish—Kheer.

Soon, everyone gathered around the table. Conversations flowed easily as they began to eat, laughter filling the room.

Sebastian placed a piece of meat onto Yuvan's plate.

"You should eat more. Look how skinny you are," he said, adding another piece without waiting for a response.

"I can't eat this much. Stop putting more," Yuvan protested with a small pout.

"It's alright. Eat as much as you like. I'll finish the rest."

"…Fine."

After breakfast, May entered carrying a bowl.

Everyone's attention shifted to it at once.

"May, what's that?" Theo asked, pointing curiously.

"Ma'am made it," May replied politely as she set the bowl down.

Theo turned to Yuvan with a grin. "Yuvy bro, what's this?"

Yuvan smiled softly. "It's kheer . A dish from my homeland." Rising from his seat, he began serving it.

"Kheer? Sounds interesting," Theo remarked.

Yuvan handed out the bowls, taking one for himself.

The moment they tasted it, silence fell over the table—brief, but telling.

They were mesmerized.

"Hmm… It's so good," Sebastian murmured, already taking another spoonful.

The rest quickly followed, and soon, everyone was enjoying the kheer with clear delight.

---

Later that afternoon, Yuvan sat in the living room, quietly reading.

The calm was broken when a man entered.

Dressed in a black suit, he carried an unmistakable presence—cold, distant, and commanding. The kind of aura that instinctively made others keep their distance.

Yuvan looked up.

The man's gaze met his.

For a moment, neither spoke.

Then Yuvan closed his book and stood.

"May I know who you are?" he asked, his voice smooth and calm.

The man paused briefly before replying, his tone firm, "Who are you?"

A flicker of confusion crossed Yuvan's face. "I am Yuvan," he answered gently.

Before anything more could be said, a maid entered. The moment she saw the man, she bowed deeply.

"Welcome back, Master David," she greeted.

Yuvan tilted his head slightly, studying him with quiet curiosity.

David's eyes moved from Yuvan to the maid. "Who is this boy?" he asked.

The maid straightened and answered respectfully, "He is young Master Sebastian's wife—Yuvan Sterling."

Silence.

David's expression hardened as he repeated, "Wife?"

The maid quickly began explaining everything.

---

After listening, David remained still for a few seconds before dismissing it with a cold, indifferent, "Whatever."

Without another word, he turned and walked away.

Yuvan watched his retreating figure for a moment before turning to the maid.

"Umm… if you don't mind, may I know your name?" he asked softly.

The maid froze.

Then, in a quiet voice, she replied, "I don't have a name."

Yuvan blinked, taken aback. "What?"

She lowered her head, offering no further explanation.

After a brief pause, Yuvan spoke again, his tone gentle. "Then… may I call you Mary?"

Her face lit up almost instantly. "Of course, ma'am."

A small smile appeared on Yuvan's lips.

"So, Mary… who was that man?"

"Master David," she replied, "is the father of the two young masters."
