Chapter 12 - The Iron Contract

The silence in the secret base was heavy, like a thick fog. The red sparks from the Billionaire Boss's hologram had vanished, but the fear stayed in the air. Dante stood frozen, his eyes fixed on the spot where the image had been. Ren was sitting in his chair, his face pale, his mind racing. He could almost feel the "tracker" moving in his blood, a silent spy inside his own body.

"He was never going to let us go," Ren whispered, his voice shaking just a little. "The Diamond Tower... the explosion... it was all just a show for him. He wanted me to have that medicine so he could own me."

Dante turned around, his face a mask of cold fury. He walked over to a metal locker and pulled out a heavy tactical vest. "He doesn't own anything yet, Ren. Ali, pack the servers. We're moving."

"Moving where, Dante?" Ali asked, his hands trembling as he disconnected wires. "If he can see through Ren's eyes, nowhere is safe. He's already inside our heads."

Suddenly, every screen in the base flickered at once. The Billionaire's logo—a golden diamond—appeared on every monitor. A text box popped up, the words typing themselves out slowly.

"LET'S NOT WASTE TIME IN HIDING. I HAVE A PROPOSAL. ONE MATCH ONE DEAL. IF THE BOY WINS, I WILL GIVE YOU THE DECRYPTION KEY TO REMOVE THE BIO-TRACKER INSIDE HIS BLOOD. I WILL LEAVE YOU, THE GIANT AND THE TECH-RAT ALONE. BUT IF HE LOSES... THE BOY COMES TO ME, AND THE REST OF YOU WILL DIE IN THE ARENA. MEET ME AT THE HOLLOW PIT IN 2 HOURS."

Dante smashed his fist against the desk. "It's a trap. He wants Ren in a controlled environment where he can watch the power up close."

Ren stood up. He wasn't shaking anymore. His eyes were cold, filled with the same dark logic that had helped him survive the first fight. "Dante, we have no choice. If we run, he kills us from a distance. If I fight, we have a chance. I've felt the 'Twist' changing after the medicine. I'm faster. I'm sharper. I can do this."

Dante looked at the boy. He saw the transformation. Ren wasn't just a student anymore; he was a weapon that was starting to understand its own edge. "Fine," Dante growled. "But we go in heavy. If anything goes wrong, I'm burning that arena to the ground."

The ride to the "Hollow Pit" was silent. The Hollow Pit was an even darker version of the first arena. It was an abandoned underground water reservoir, miles beneath the city's surface. As the elevator descended, the temperature dropped. The air smelled of wet concrete and old blood.

When the doors opened, the scale of the place was terrifying. Thousands of people were already there, but they weren't screaming like the last crowd. These were the elites—men in expensive suits, women in diamonds, all wearing masks to hide their identities. This wasn't a game for the poor; it was a high-stakes gamble for the rich.

In the center of the reservoir was a raised stone platform, surrounded by a deep trench filled with jagged iron spikes. There were no ropes. There was no referee.

Dante and Ren walked through the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, the Billionaire Boss stood behind a glass balcony, looking down like a god. He raised a glass of wine toward Ren.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN," the Boss's voice boomed over the speakers. "TODAY WE WITNESS THE PEAK OF HUMAN EVOLUTION. IN THE RIGHT CORNER, THE BOY WHO TWISTS THE MIND-REN!."

Ren stepped onto the stone platform. The bright spotlights blinded him for a second. He took a deep breath, feeling the cool air in his lungs. He looked at his hands. They were steady.

"AND IN THE RIGHT CORNER... THE PEAK OF PHYSICAL PERFECTION. THE MAN WHO FEELS NO PAIN. THE JUGGERNAUT... MAGNUS!."

A massive door on the opposite side creaked open. The ground began to vibrate with every footstep. Out of the darkness stepped a man who didn't look human. Magnus was nearly seven feet tall, his body a mass of thick, corded muscle. He wasn't wearing armor, just simple leather trousers. His skin was covered in scars, and his eyes were a dull, robotic grey.

Dante leaned against the railing near the tunnel, his heart sinking. "Ren... be careful. That's not a normal man. He's been bio-engineered. His nervous system is shielded."

Ren looked at Magnus. He tried to send a small "Twist" toward the man's leg to make him stumble. Usually, Ren could feel the person's nerves like strings on a guitar. But with Magnus, it felt like trying to pull a string made of solid steel. There was no vibration. No weakness.

Magnus didn't wait for a signal. He let out a roar that shook the very walls of the reservoir and charged. He moved with a speed that shouldn't have been possible for a man of his size.

Ren's eyes widened. He dodged to the left just as Magnus's fist slammed into the stone where he had been standing. The stone cracked, sending shards flying. Ren felt the wind from the punch hit his face like a physical blow.

He's too fast, Ren thought, his mind racing at a thousand miles an hour. And my Twist isn't working on his limbs. His muscles are too dense for me to override the signals easily.

Magnus turned and swung a massive backhand. Ren ducked, but the tip of Magnus's fingers caught his shoulder. Ren spun through the air and hit the ground hard, sliding toward the edge of the spikes.

The crowd erupted into applause. The Billionaire Boss leaned forward, a satisfied smile on his face.

Ren scrambled to his feet, his shoulder screaming in pain. He realized Magnus wasn't just strong; he was a counter to Ren's power. If Ren couldn't control the body, he had to find a way into the mind. But Magnus's eyes were blank, showing no emotion, no fear, no thought.

Magnus charged again. Ren tried to "Twist" the man's inner ear to ruin his balance. For a split second, Magnus wobbled. Ren saw the opening and landed a sharp kick to Magnus's knee. It was a perfect hit, but it felt like kicking a pillar of concrete. Magnus didn't even flinch. He grabbed Ren's leg mid-air.

"Oh no," Dante whispered, his hand going for his gun.

Magnus slammed Ren onto the stone platform like a ragdoll. Ren felt the air leave his lungs. His vision turned red. Magnus lifted him up again, ready to throw him into the spikes.

Ren, hanging by his leg, looked into Magnus's eyes. He didn't see a mind. He saw a program. He's not thinking... he's reacting, Ren realized. If I can't twist the man, I have to twist the air he breathes.

As Magnus swung his arm to throw Ren, Ren didn't fight the grip. Instead, he used his power on the tiny sweat droplets on Magnus's skin and the moisture in the air around Magnus's face. He forced the liquid to "twist" into a fine mist and enter Magnus's nose and throat.

Magnus suddenly choked. For the first time, his robotic eyes showed a flash of panic. His grip loosened just enough. Ren twisted his body in mid-air, landed on his feet, and delivered a palm strike directly to Magnus's throat, using the "Twist" to vibrate the man's vocal cords.

Magnus fell back, clutching his throat, making a horrible gargling sound.

Ren stood at the edge of the platform, blood dripping from his lip, his chest heaving. He wasn't winning by strength. He was winning by being a monster of logic.

The Boss stood up in the balcony, his eyes widening. "Incredible... he's improvising."

Magnus got back up, his face turning a dark purple. The grey in his eyes began to glow red. He wasn't just a man anymore; he was a machine that had been pushed into "overdrive." The real fight was just beginning.

Ren looked at the Boss, then back at Magnus. He realized this wasn't just a fight for his life. It was a test. And he was about to give the Boss a result he would never forget.

"You want to see a 'Twist'?" Ren whispered, his eyes turning a sharp, lethal violet. "I'll show you what happens when a mind breaks the world."
