Chapter 44 - Want to Meet Raphael

Michael felt this world's rules probably wouldn't be based on the body's age. If that were the case, his body most likely wouldn't count as valid anyway.

After all, on this continent, he didn't think anyone other than him was born from energy like this except for the ancient gods.

[You're not wrong. But you're still a 'weirdo' in this world, so be careful. Your identity is even stranger than Leo's.]

'Hmph, I'm not an idiot. I understand simple stuff like this.'

He never once thought he was more 'normal' than Leo. Anyway, he was a god, a whole tier above as a transmigrator.

"Ah, um… I don't think Raphael can help you with anything big. But if it's getting you food, that's not hard for him. If your appetite is like a normal person's, even I could handle it."

Leo only realized after coming to this world that his appetite was totally insane. An entire squad back in the day didn't eat as much as he does now.

Having an abnormally large appetite paired with a super strong body isn't a bad thing. As long as he doesn't eat himself into a fat useless mess like some damn nobles, Leo doesn't see a problem.

"Is his situation that bad? How bad exactly?"

Michael really didn't get what was wrong with Raphael anymore. Could there be something wrong with that final technique Elio used to attack him?

"How do I put it… Raphael's like an old drunk who's lazy all day. Of course, that's when he's awake enough to drink, but most of the time he's in this half-asleep state. I'd say at least eighty percent of each day, he just sits still on his bed like a statue."

Leo was just saying what he saw. He didn't really understand it either. He didn't know this world had so many weird things, so he couldn't make sense of it.

As for Michael, when he heard about Raphael sitting motionless, he immediately thought of when he and Rias rested. Probably healing wounds, but what kind of injury could trouble a demigod for this long?

"Well, first take me to see him. Who knows, maybe I have some way to help him get back to his peak or something?"

Leo stared at Michael like he was looking at a scammer. This 'useless' genie could actually have some way? He was sure Michael was just saying that for the sake of it and didn't actually know what to do either.

"Can you keep up with me? Or should I slow down?"

As he spoke, he glanced at Michael's somewhat healthy body that would go down with one punch. A body like this obviously couldn't compete with him in speed or endurance.

"You already know the answer, so why ask me so many questions?"

Michael rolled his eyes at Leo. Clearly with Leo's level, he should be able to judge his current strength. Was he asking like this just to make fun of him?

---

The two of them kept walking down to a lower area. The winding, treacherous mountain path made a lazy person like Michael feel like he was being tortured.

It was just a casual walk at a comfortable pace to enjoy the view, yet Michael was struggling like crazy. If it weren't for his system-made body being high quality, he would've collapsed on the road to rest ages ago.

"When are we gonna get there?"

Michael stuck out his tongue, panting, sweat drenching his whole body. The genie outfit was the breathable type too but still couldn't handle the temperature here. Probably around forty degrees Celsius.

His current body was way better than back on Earth, but still, he'd never trained before. Walking a long distance in this sweltering heat was not pleasant at all.

"Can you stop complaining? We've only walked about three miles so far. If you can't even handle walking this slow, how are you supposed to help me?"

Leo really wanted to curse, but when he felt Michael's body, he also noticed his current muscles were really like a kid's. Honestly, a kid's untrained strength doing what he's doing now isn't that bad.

"Why don't you train near home instead of coming to this godforsaken place?"

Michael really couldn't understand. The stuff Leo practices could clearly be done anywhere because this area's full of trees and big rocks everywhere.

"The fish in that stream are pretty good. Eating meat at home all the time gets a bit boring, so I go there to practice running on rough terrain and also to eat grilled fish."

Of course the training wasn't as important as eating the fish. Anyway, living with Raphael, food wasn't lacking but it was super monotonous. If possible, Leo obviously wanted some change in his meals too.

???

'Just because you want to eat fish, I have to walk this far? Damn, what's so great about eating anyway?'

Hearing the reason, Michael couldn't help cursing in his head. He was a lazy eater who saw eating as a forced survival action, so he thought this wasn't important.

He had gone to quite a few restaurants before, but the main reason was friends dragging him along. In ten years of staying holed up at home, the only thing he ever ordered was rice. He ate that irregularly, which was why his body ended up lacking all sorts of nutrients later.

"Hmph, the king of the world being such a foodie. That's seriously embarrassing. I'm ashamed for you."

"Huh???"

This time it was Leo's turn to be stunned. Eating a few grilled fish got him scolded? He wasn't living it up like those damn nobles either.

"Hey, how am I supposed to have energy to train if I don't eat? And what's wrong with me eating grilled fish? It doesn't even cost anything."

Getting scolded for no reason like this, of course he wasn't happy about it. He had to make this clear. No way he was letting Michael do whatever he wanted.

"Hmph, isn't the food Raphael gives you enough already? Someone driven by greed like you dares to dream of becoming king of this world? If you don't change, you'll definitely fail… Like this, you'll become the very nobles you hate."
