Chapter 5 - Secret Task

After some days pass, she officially becomes Rahats spirit partner. He starts trying to understand the bond between them—how to connect with her, how to practice together, etc.

One day, the Strange Man calls him. He goes there with Prapti.

In front of the headquarters, Prapti suddenly becomes afraid and does not want to go inside. He asks her why, but she cannot explain—she just flies away without saying anything.

He enters alone. The Strange Man starts apologizing, saying he cannot find his spirit partner yet.

He says, "It's okay, I've already found her."

The Strange Man looks happy and wants to meet her.

When he tells him that she has flown away, his expression changes. He suddenly looks worried and says, "We'll talk later."

He leaves.

Shortly after, his own spirit partner appears and asks, "What happened?"

He replies, "Maybe we have a problem in our plan. So, our plan now is simple—kill him. It's not good for him to know everything so early."

She becomes excited. "Right now? Let's go!"

But he says, "Wait. No need to kill him now. We need to prepare first. Also we can go for our own goals."

Then he enters a room, where a dead body is kept inside a box glowing with dark power. He touches the face of the corpse and says, "To win the world… to conquer everything… to fulfill my dream—to achieve the goal that I am destined for, this will help me."

He laughs in an evil way. His spirit partner nods in agreement, but her expression shows she cannot understand everything.

The Strange Man understands and says, "Let me explain it."

The body carries the magic essence of the True Devil.

In ancient times, there was an event known as "The Last Wish." During this event, the God of the New World sacrificed himself and made a final wish—for the capture of the True Devil.

This wish was accepted, and the True Devil was captured.

But before being captured, he released his magic, which was absorbed by the environment. From the environment, this magic slowly spread into living beings.

Even now, this magic essence can be found within living beings—and among them, he is the one.

However, if a living being absorbs too much of this magic, they become the host of the True Devil. And once that happens, the host has only one goal:

To bring the True Devil back into this world.

In the corner of the headquarters, there is a jail-like chamber—dark, hidden, and soundproof. Inside, a girl sits quietly, clearly tortured and weakened. She has long red hair and red eyes with a faint face. But her eyes still burn with the flames of revenge.

She wants revenge.

Revenge against the Strange Man and his spirit partner.

She suddenly screams, "I want revenge!"

But no one can hear her. The walls are thick. The silence is absolute.

Her backstory:

She had once been the president of both junior high school and college. She had many moods and was often very moody, which led most people to dislike her. But there was one person who truly loved her—Rabbi.

And Rabbi… was the very dead body the Strange Man was now gazing upon.

He stood in the classroom, nervously giving his self-introduction.

"My name is Rabbi. I'm just a normal second-year student. And because I'm normal, everyone likes to tease me, punish me without any reason…"

He sighs.

"To be honest, the strongest are the ones who survive in this arena. But there's only one person who actually cares about me—Natasha, the Council President and a third-year student."

He pauses for a moment, thinking.

"Even though she is beautiful and has a charming personality… sometimes she turns wild, aggressive, and way too moody. So moody that everyone ends up disliking her. Honestly, she could probably kill someone if she really wanted to."

He gives a dry smile.

"But I… I am the only person who actually loves her. Not that it matters. I have no chance."

Suddenly, the classroom door slides open. She enters, surrounded by her all-female council team.

She stands confidently and makes an announcement:

"We will be going on a trip. But only the fittest second-year students will be allowed to come with us."

Everyone becomes excited except Rabbi because in the past, Rabbi went to the council room for discussion of upcoming festivals. Natasha was changing her clothes and Rabbi mistakenly entered the room. He saw the scene and immediately shut the door, saying sorry.

Rabbi says to himself, "So I need to make a plan how to fail every task. I'll just mess everything up. No way I'm going…"

But things do not go as planned.

After all the challenges, Natasha reveals the truth with a smirk:

"Rabbi will be going with us. Because this trip… is actually about teaching someone who can't do anything."

Rabbi's jaw drops.

"But I failed everything…!"

He is shocked, confused—yet he cannot say no anymore. He has no choice but to go with them.

During the trip, Rabbi experiences many things. He learns a lot of new skills, but none of the council girls can accept him. They mock him, ignore him, exclude him.

Except one.

Natasha always stands up to defend Rabbi. And through those small, defiant moments—they begin to understand each other just a little bit more.

After some days, Natasha asks Rabbi to come to a restaurant near the outskirts of their town. In truth, she is calling him outside of town entirely.

When he arrives, he sees she is already waiting for him.

She smiles, then takes him inside the restaurant and orders some food and drinks for both of them.

Rabbi hesitates for a few moments, but then, gathering some courage, he asks her, "Why did you tell me to come here?"

She smiles again and replies, "It is for a big reason… something I cannot let others know."

He stares at her, confused.

Suddenly, without any warning, she reaches across the table and grabs his hand.

Looking into his eyes, she says, "I know all about you. You really rejected one of the most beautiful girls… Why?"

She tightens her grip slightly.

"And you are always kind to me… Why? Tell me, please. Why do you do all these things?"

"Okay, aside from that… you know I am a demon who can kill anyone without any effort. You also saw that I effortlessly killed that guy who tortured the little girl."

Her eyes narrow slightly.

"For that, everyone started to hate me… everyone ignored me… tried to annoy me. When I was totally alone, you were the one who came beside me. To be honest… thank you so much. And the main reason I brought you here is…"

She takes a deep breath.

"I love you."

Rabbi is shocked.

She looks away. "Do you love me? I know I am not the one you love, but—"

He stops her gently and says, "No… to be honest, I love you too."

She smiles—and at that moment, their order arrives. They begin eating happily.

After the meal, they walk outside. They hug each other tightly and wave goodbye.

He seems happy as he walks away.

But as Natasha turns the other direction, her smile slowly fades. She steps into a quiet corner.

Two drops of tears roll down her cheeks.

In a slow voice, she whispers, "Am I doing the right thing?"

Some days pass after the confession, and now Natasha and Rabbi are in a good relationship.

One night, Natasha receives a message—and immediately goes to the headquarters of the Strange Man. The message is from him.

She arrives and bows her head.

The Strange Man nods and asks coldly, "What is going on with our plan to manipulate Sosuke?"

She nods.

"It is going well."

The Strange Man's eyes narrow. "Did you fall in love with him? Truly? You do know that is not part of our plan."

Natasha replies flatly, "No."

But her heart cannot accept the answer.

The Strange Man smirks. "Good. Leave for now."

She turns to leave, but her inner voice whispers:

"Don't you really love him?"

She cannot answer herself.

Tears start falling silently as she runs away from the headquarters.

After some days, nothing happens.

Suddenly, Natasha messages Rabbi: "Rabbi, if anyone says anything to you, do not listen. My one request. I just do not know, but I am feeling very bad these days."

He sees the message but cannot understand it. He goes out to meet her.

At the roadside, he searches for her.

On the other side, Natasha is there. She sees Rabbi and crosses the road.

At that time, Scynthia is carrying goods. She sees Natasha crossing and a vehicle coming toward her.

She rushes to save Natasha, but the vehicle hits both of them.

Scynthia disappears after the accident. Natasha is badly injured.

The vehicle is driven by the Strange Man.

Rabbi sees the accident and rushes to Natasha, taking her to the hospital, but she has already died.

But Natasha is not from this world. She came here with the Strange Man from a different dimension. That is why she has the power to transform her body into spirit form.

She does exactly that—leaving her human body—and searches for Rabbi but cannot find him.

Suddenly, she sees him standing alone on a bridge.

At that moment, the Strange Man appears beside him.

"Hmm… sad to hear you lost the last hope of your life. But life is not over yet."

Rabbi turns and says, "Who are you to say that? Just go. Leave me alone."

The Strange Man chuckles.

"Okay, okay… but what can I do now? More importantly, what can you do? You really cannot do anything. You did not even do anything for her."

Rabbi shouts, "Shut up!"

He breaks down and cries.

The Strange Man grins.

"Poor baby. Don't cry. Life only gives one chance… and you? You lost it."

Rabbi says, "What do you want from me? I can do anything for her!"

The Strange Man raises an eyebrow.

"If you could do anything, you would have already killed yourself and gone to her."

Before he finishes—

Rabbi jumps off the bridge.

Natasha stands frozen.

Then she screams:

"NOOOOOOO!!!"
