Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Trap

With the Doctor, this ceiling-level intelligence around, Rover finally experienced the feeling of being carried. Puzzles, hidden treasure chests, all of that was as easy for the Doctor as getting out of bed in winter.

After all, for the Doctor, these things were nothing.

She could even handcraft gold bars for you as long as you gave her enough manpower. Not to mention things like howling sound cores, murmuring sound cores, vortices, and phlogiston.

During this time, the Doctor even helped Rover find several treasure chests.

Which made Rover keep saying she was going to snatch the Doctor away from Zane.

After all, who wouldn't like a cute Doctor with top-tier intelligence, outstanding memory, a beautiful face, a sweet voice, and who could automatically find treasure chests for you?

Very quickly, after passing through a narrow bamboo forest path, the two arrived at the database of the Huanglong encyclopedia.

At the end of the bamboo forest, a door full of mechanical design opened automatically, and a path paved with silver-white tiles stretched straight toward the depths of the database.

There, a huge golden display screen full of high-tech atmosphere stood tall, with lines of golden text flowing across the screen.

Even though there was no one here, the terminal was still running.

Like a worker who doesn't get a holiday even during festivals, quietly working at an empty workstation.

Looking at the huge golden display screen in front of her, Rover widened her eyes in surprise, and her small red lips parted slightly.

"So this is the database? It feels so advanced."

Perhaps because of her lost memories, Rover at this moment didn't have any awareness of being the emperor of Jinzhou.

She was like a country girl who had just entered the city, looking around curiously, as if trying to find some treasure chests here.

Looking at the excited Rover girl, although it wasn't very appropriate, the Doctor still reminded her, "The big fish has taken the bait. Don't forget to pull in the net."

Hearing the Doctor's words, Rover stopped, raised her delicate fist, and showed off her fair bicep.

"Don't judge me like this, I'm actually very good at fighting. And haven't you heard a saying?" Rover turned around, looked at the Doctor, and revealed a slightly smug smile.

"Fishermen never return empty-handed."

As her words fell, a slow set of footsteps came from the entrance. Immediately after, that familiar teasing voice echoed in the empty hall.

"Thanks for leading the way, Rover."

Hearing this voice, the Doctor finally let out a small sigh of relief.

What fishermen fear most is coming back empty-handed.

Scar strolled in step by step, looking around with half-lidded eyes. "…This really is a good place. It has everything, nothing is missing. It makes people want to dig it out bit by bit from the inside out… and then burn it all down!"

As he spoke, Scar had already come in front of the two. Looking at their calm expressions, he showed a slight smile.

"You don't seem surprised by my appearance at all, Rover, Doctor."

The Doctor wasn't surprised at all that Scar knew her name. With the Fractsidus's tightly structured (?), rigorously organized (?), strictly disciplined (?) organization, it was impossible for them not to investigate her.

If Scar, as a overseer of the Fractsidus, truly knew nothing about her, then the Doctor could only say, 'Maybe more Soleres… no, maybe Reunion would be better.'

On the other side, Scar clearly didn't realize that he might have lowered the overall level of the Fractsidus in the Doctor's eyes. He was still proudly pleased with his plan of following Rover into the database.

"Rover, you don't really think you can beat me for sure, do you?" Scar held a playing card in one hand. For him, playing cards were his weapons.

"To be honest, I've always had a small doubt about whether you can really defeat me at full strength."

Hearing Scar's words, Rover raised her delicate brows, a hint of amusement appearing on her fair face. Even the Doctor beside her couldn't help but let out a small laugh.

Seeing that his provocation didn't anger Rover, Scar stopped wasting words and directly raised the playing card in his hand…

Only to be instantly frozen in place by ice spikes that suddenly appeared behind him. Immediately after, Scar saw Rover and the Doctor place their blades at his neck from both sides.

"So it was a trap."

Scar struggled to turn his head and look back, only to see Sanhua and another white figure walking into the database.

Only then did he realize that he was the mantis being caught. But even so, his face still carried that cruel, crazed smile, as if he wasn't worried about his situation at all.

"Interesting… but you don't really think this alone can trap me, do you?"

Along with Scar's roar, a violent gale burst out from around him, easily blowing away the ice that Sanhua had used to seal his movements.

Seeing this, Rover and the Doctor exchanged a glance and applied force at the same time, but Scar lowered his body and slipped away in a flash.

"This alone can't do anything to me." Scar laughed wildly and decisively jumped back, escaping the encirclement.

It had to be said, Scar really was Scar. Even after getting countered by four people while trying to gank, he still talked tough.

But just as his words fell, five sky-blue dragons flew out from the white figure standing at the back and rushed straight toward Scar.

But an overseer was still a overseer, not something those common small fry could compare to.

Seeing the five small dragons rushing at him, Scar gave a low shout. In the blink of an eye, five black cards flew out of his hand and collided fiercely with the blue dragon phantoms.

In an instant, clear dragon roars mixed with the crackling sounds of red lightning echoed continuously through the archive room.

"The Magistrate of Jinzhou truly lives up to her name."

Scar gritted his teeth and threw out two more playing cards, barely managing to reach a stalemate with the phantoms summoned by Jihnsi.

Standing behind Sanhua was none other than the current ruler of Jinzhou, Zane's sister... Jihnsi.

"Hmph." Clearly, Jihnsi had no interest in wasting words with Scar. Her white clothes and white hair moved without wind as she controlled the dragon and stepped through the air.

Only at this moment did Scar truly witness the power of Jinzhou's Magistrate.

Jue floated in midair, lightning flashing endlessly around it, carrying overwhelming pressure that forced Scar to treat the situation with utmost seriousness.

As the young girl who controlled both the military and political power of Jinzhou, Jihnsi was also a formidable fighter.

Rover watched Jihnsi display her overwhelming power, her eyes filled with amazement.

Unlike Zane, that straightforward close-combat brute, his senior sister was clearly a mage wrapped in the shell of a greatsword warrior.

Seeing that he couldn't win, Scar forced a smile onto his face. A dark formation appeared beneath his feet.

"I'd love to stay and play with you, but… friends, it's time to say goodbye."

As he spoke, Scar turned and stepped into the teleportation array. As long as he entered it, he would be safe.

At that moment, a loud rumbling suddenly came from above his head.

Standing inside the teleportation array, Scar's heart trembled. He instinctively looked up and saw a white figure descending from the sky.

It had to be said, the thermite charge from that certain four-character demolition game numbered six was really useful. It directly blasted a hole through the database ceiling.

If it wasn't Zane, who else could it be?

Since it was a team fight, how could it be complete without five people?

Seeing Zane jump into the teleportation array that was about to close, Rover's legs, wrapped in black stockings and black boots, suddenly burst with powerful force.

The Original Swift Blade appeared in her hand as she leapt forward, jumping in just before the array closed.
